TED NUGENT NAMED DETROIT’S GREATEST 

GUITAR PLAYER OF ALL TIME

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A poll initiated by MLive! in Michigan has ordained rock 'n’ roll legend Ted Nugent -- a.k.a. "Motor City Madman"-- as Detroit’s greatest guitar player in history. Nugent won by a landslide, with 428 votes, or over 51 percent of the total vote, proving that fans in his hometown are proud of his five decades of multi-platinum hits and sold-out worldwide tours.

 

Out on the road with REO Speedwagon and Styx, his current tour titled the Midwest Rock ‘n’ Roll Express Tour was named one of the Rolling Stone’s Ten Hottest Summer Package Tours of 2012.

 

A recent review in the Arizona Central of Nugent’s show on May 4 at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix noted, "Backed by guitaristDerek St. Holmes and bassist Rob Grange, the lineup from classic '70s era Nugent releases such as ‘Free-for-All’ and ‘Cat Scratch Fever,’ Nugent started the night with the hard rocking ‘Gonzo,’ sending the crowd into a frenzy that never died down," and added, "Nugent let his guitar do most of the talking, and his big riff of ‘Motor City Madhouse' earned the kind of cheers reserved only for the classics."
