"Soul Man" Sam Moore Headed to Georgia Music Hall of Fame
ATLANTA, GA (July 30, 2015) – In honor of a career spanning more than 60 years, rock-and-soul great Sam Moore will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The voice behind such hits as “I Thank You” and “Hold On I'm Coming" joins singer/songwriter Gregg Allman, composer John Barbe and his wife, Jane, producer John Huie, and numerous others to be inducted in a ceremony Sept. 26 in Atlanta.

Moore catapulted to international fame as the lead voice of the 1960s duo “Sam and Dave,” a musical collaboration with long-time partner and fellow Georgia native Dave Prater. As Sam and Dave, the duo recorded and performed together for 20 years and produced a string of hit albums. But it was a tune written, arranged, and produced by Isaac Hayes that cemented Moore’s place in music history. In 1967, Moore and Hayes wrote “Soul Man,” which Sam and Dave would record later that year. The song became responsible for a resurgence in Moore’s popularity, when Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi assumed the characters of Elwood and Jake Blues, hopped into the Bluesmobile, and took up a career singing the blues as the Blues Brothers. The song the brothers chose as their signature: “Soul Man.”

After a storied career with Prater, Moore went on to enjoy a long solo career, as well, recording with some of the biggest names in numerous genres of music, including Conway Twitty, with whom he recorded the hit song “Rainy Night in Georgia.” In 1992, Moore was inducted, along with the deceased Prater, into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, arguably music’s highest honor, capping a career that included a Grammy, honors from the Vocal Music Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. Sam was the recipient of the first ever MOBO Living Legends Honor, and he received the AFTRA AMEE Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 and a NARAS Hero Award in 2003.

These days, Moore is still making music. In 2006, he joined Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello and The Edge to close out the Grammy telecast with a tribute to longtime friend and fellow Atlantic Records recording artist Wilson Pickett. His most recent album, Overnight Sensational, again found him on the receiving end of critical praise, and the single “You Are So Beautiful” was nominated for a Grammy. Moore closed out 2014 with a standing ovation for his performance at the Kennedy Center Honors.

Born in Macon County, Georgia, Moore celebrates his 80th birthday this October.

Sam Moore found musical fame as one half of the ’60’s powerhouse duo Sam & Dave. With 1967’s hit “Soul Man,” the duo found lasting fame, defined a genre, and altered the course of music history. Their signature sound influenced a diverse array of musical talents, including Al Green, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Chicago’s Phil Collins, Elvis Costello, and Billy Joel. Their music helped to inspire the film Blues Brothers, and has appeared on the soundtracks of more than a dozen films. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1992, Rolling Stone named Moore one of the 100 greatest singers of the rock era. Moore, 79, continues to perform regularly both in solo shows and as a guest performer for his dozens of musical friends.

Kelly Lang Records "Last Date" with Late Show's Paul Shaffer
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – When Kelly Lang's long-time friend Paul Shaffer visited Nashville for vacation recently, they did what most musicians do. They made music, recording a track for her upcoming album in their first studio session together.

Lang's performance with the former musical director of Late Show With David Letterman is one of several star-studded cuts from her upcoming album, which is set for release later this year. The singer-songwriter was excited to get to record with Shaffer, especially considering the musical magic that they created in their first performance together.

“I've known Paul forever, but we'd never had the chance to perform together,” said Lang. “He came down on vacation to see me, check out Nashville, and do a show. After that, we decided, 'Why not record this for the record'?”

Shaffer had originally come to town to visit Lang and to play a July 4th show as Lang's special guest. Lang is a regular performer in the annual Remembering Conway Twitty show at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. This year, she performed “Goodbye Darling,” a song she wrote about Twitty. For her second song, she chose “Last Date,” a song Twitty fans know for the moving lyrics he wrote to the Floyd Cramer tune.

It was the magic of "Last Date" Shaffer and Lang decided to capture when they made it into the studio. "It's just such a magical song, and Paul brings so much to it, so much feeling and passion," Lang said. "You can hear it all on the record when it comes out. And there's a lot of surprises, too."

Lang is playing it close to the vest about the songs she’s including on the album. And, while she won't reveal the full song list or popular names that might find their way into the credits, she does say people will be surprised and pleased with the collection, which she likens to her last album of classic songs, Shades of K, which drew critical praise from Billboard. "I've been so blessed in my life to have people like Paul, so many incredibly gifted, talented musicians," she said. "I'm just as blessed to have so many great songs to include on this record."

Growing up in the music business, Lang’s father was Twitty’s longtime tour manager. She turned first to performing, with her first Billboard single “Lady, Lady” at the age of 15. Over the years, she’s toured extensively, and she is a talented and sought-after songwriter, as well. She is set to appear July 18 at the Grand Ole Opry with husband TG Sheppard, with whom she frequently performs duets in live shows. The couple released Iconic Duets, an album of celebrated love songs, in 2013.

NASHVILLE, TN  — Country female vocalist Cassadee Pope makes it all look so easy: She has a vocal range that stands out among her peers.  A debut single, “Wasting All These Tears,” that sold over a million copies  – a  feat that ranked her as one of the select few solo female artists to garner platinum certification with a first release. A chart-topping album debut with FRAME BY FRAME. Opening slots on tours with superstars Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts. And not to mention she won the biggest show on television, The Voice.

But Cassadee’s success has not come without hardships and is the result of patience, belief in her dream and a loyal fan army.

Cassadee said the first time she heard the song it hit her right in the heart. “I was thinking of all the things I have gone through over the last few years that could have very well influenced me to step away from making music. At the same time, I was reminded of how proud I should be of myself for sticking to my true passion. I have my fans to thank for that with their encouragement, support and really cheering me on at a time of uncertainty. Thinking about all of those emotions really takes this song to another level when I’m performing it and I hope ‘I Am Invincible’ gives others their confidence too."

“I Am Invincible” will be available on iTunes and across all digital retailers on July 24, the same day the single is shipped to Country radio stations. The official radio impact date is September 8.

After seeing Cassadee preview the song at a recent LIVE show, Rolling Stone Country said “she sings on the soaring hook, her voice buttressed by heavy power chords.”
