NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Neo-traditional country music artist and Alabama-native Shane Owens is back with an all new song called “Hard Luck Girl,” along with a concept video, premiered by Country Rebel yesterday [Click to watch]. The new song which released on Sept. 13, is the first single from a brand new album, aptly named Thankful For Country Music, due out December 6th from Amerimonte Records.

Known for being one of the few modern country artists who still pays homage to the old-school classic country sound, Owens journeyed to The Panhandle House in Denton, Texas to record his latest album. The well-equipped studio has produced recorded works from Blake SheltonDon Henley and The Eagles, to Texas music staples Eli YoungThe Josh Abbott Band and Kacey Musgraves.

Owens continues to work with Nashville-based songwriter Galen Griffin - who has penned hits for Clay WalkerCraig MorganLuke Bryan, and Joe Diffie - along with two of Owens’ recent singles “Love To Try Them On,” and “Country Never Goes Out Of Style.”

Produced by Nick “Ace” Lutz, Owens recruited some of Texas’ best studio musicians including Mitchell Smithey (Ray Price, LeeAnn Rimes) on steel guitar; Kerry Huckaba (The Hansens, White River Band) on bass guitar; Jay Brown (Canyon) on piano & background vocals; Dale Morris Jr (Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard) on fiddle; & Andrew Raley (Deryl Dodd), on drums.

The Music Row 2018 Independent Artist of the Year continues to maintain an active schedule of barroom shows and festival appearances. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2017 and has appeared at summertime events like CMA Music Festival and Jamboree In the Hills, both of which were voted as the top two American country music festivals of the year. Cracker Barrel has picked Owens' music to appear in several of the store's exclusive releases and Netflix included his song, "Country Never Goes Out of Style," in the popular series The Ranch. It's no wonder that Rolling Stone Country named Shane Owens one of the magazine's "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know!"

Shane Owens blends his rich and bold baritone voice over a mixture of contemporary and classic country music sounds that wraps the notes around the listener’s heart, with traditional southern storytelling.

About Shane Owens:
Named by Rolling Stone Country as one of “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” and awarded 2018 Music Row Independent Artist of the Year, Shane Owens has been building a strong following across the Southeast for more than a decade. His powerful vocal range combined with the emotional lyrical content of his songs has made him a favorite of fans, critics, and his fellow artists alike. After starting his career by opening shows for dozens of major stars in the mid-2000s, the baritone performer attracted the attention of Nashville music executives, and he soon landed a record deal. However, with all the changes in the music industry at the time, his album was shelved and never released. Just like the ‘Never Give Up’ mantra of his lyrics, Owens picked himself up and moved on, thanks to famed producer James Stroud (Tim McGraw, Aaron Lewis, Clint Black), country music legend Randy Travis, who produced his first album, Where I’m Comin’ From, and Amerimonte Records. Never one to sit still for long, Owens followed up with his most recent release It’s A Southern Thing and is currently impacting at radio with his latest single “Hard Luck Girl” from upcoming album, Thankful For Country Music (Dec. 6). JOHN PRINE CELEBRATES 20
YEARS OF
IN SPITE OF OURSELVES
SITTIN’ ON A RAINBOW EP OUT NOW
Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of John Prine’s beloved album, In Spite of Ourselves, which was originally released September 28, 1999 on Prine’s own independent label, Oh Boy Records. Prine’s first release after beating cancer, the 16-song record features a collection of duets with some of Prine’s favorite female country artists including the breakthrough title track—a duet with Iris DeMent. In the 20 years since it came out, “In Spite Of Ourselves” has become Prine’s most successful song with over 40 million streams. Watch the song’s official music video HERE.
In celebration of the anniversary, a new 2-song EP, Sittin’ On A Rainbow, featuring the remastered version of “In Spite Of Ourselves” along with “Who’s Gonna Take The Garbage Out” (featuring Iris DeMent from For Better, or Worse) is now available at all digital services (purchase/stream here). Also available today is a limited-edition, pink vinyl of In Spite of Ourselves, released as part of the “Ten Bands One Cause” vinyl campaign. Proceeds from the release benefit Gilda’s Club NYCa charity that provides support for cancer patients and their loved ones (purchase here).
Produced by Jim RooneyIn Spite of Ourselves features collaborations with DeMent along with Connie SmithLucinda WilliamsTrisha YearwoodMelba MontgomeryEmmylou HarrisDolores KeanePatty Loveless and John’s wife, Fiona Prine
Reflecting on making the record, Prine shares,
“‘In Spite of Ourselves’ was the first thing I wrote that resembled work since my cancer. I had so much radiation in my throat area, I couldn’t sing. I could talk, but I didn’t have any power in my voice. I’d been kicking around the idea of a female duets record for a while, so I made a list of two or three women per song until I had a list of about 35. I only expected one out of five would want to do it…but the first nine I called said yes.”
Rooney adds,
We started recording at Jack’s Tracks and knocked out the first duets with Iris, Melba and Connie. John had one more tour to do before the holidays, so we paused recording. When he got back, he noticed a little sore that had developed on his neck, and when he got it checked, he learned he had neck cancer. Everything came to a halt as John and Fiona left for Houston for John to get the surgery and radiation. The prognosis was good, but no one knew if he would ever be able to sing again.
It took John a while to recover, including hiring a trainer who would make him run up and down stairs and then put a guitar on and try to sing, but slowly his voice came back. During the end of his recovery, Billy Bob Thornton asked John to be a part of a film he was making, Daddy and Them. Billy Bob and Marty Stuart (who was putting together some of the music) asked John to write a song for the movie. He came up with ‘In Spite of Ourselves’ and asked Iris to sing the female part.
That December, John played the song for me in his car. I was laughing because the song was so funny, such a quirky John Prine song; I was crying because John was singing! I just looked at John and said, ‘You’re back! Your voice is back!’ and he smiled his biggest ever John Prine smile. It was one of the happiest days of my life. We soon jumped right back into the studio to finish what we had started nearly a year earlier. We had learned a big lesson in patience.”
Prine is currently in the midst of an extensive worldwide tour including an upcoming date at Hollywood’s John Anson Ford Amphitheatre as well as newly confirmed shows next summer at Louisville’s Louisville Palace (two nights) and Vienna’s Wolf Trap. Additionally, Prine’s All The Best Fest—a destination concert vacation—will take place at the all-inclusive Breathless + Now Onyx Resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic November 11-15, 2019. See below for complete details.
The landmark anniversary comes after a monumental series of years for Prine following the release of his critically acclaimed new album, The Tree of Forgivenesswhich is out now on Oh Boy Records (purchase/stream here). Produced by Grammy Award winning producer Dave Cobb, the album is Prine’s first release featuring new material in over 13 years and debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 54,000 equivalent albums sold in its first weeka career high chart position and sales week for the legendary singer, songwriter and performer. The album also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart, #2 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and #2 on Billboard’s Rock Albums chart. Adding to his remarkable year, Prine was officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this spring, received three GRAMMY nominations and received two awards at the 2019 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards: Album of the Year (The Tree of Forgiveness) and Song of the Year (“Summer’s End” written by Prine and Pat McLaughlin).

A two-time Grammy-winner, Prine is among the English language’s premier phrase-turners. Almost 50 years into a remarkable career that has drawn effusive praise from Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Roger Waters, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and others who would know, Prine is a smiling, shuffling force for good. He is a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member and a PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient whose classic debut album, simply titled John Prine, is recognized as part of the Recording Academy’s Grammy Hall of Fame and whose songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band and many others.
Following the 2015 death of his friend and business partner Al Bunetta, Prine is now President and sole owner of Oh Boy Records. He lives in Nashville, TN with his wife, Fiona, and enjoys spending time with their three sons, a daughter-in-law and his grandchildren.

RILEY GREEN DOES THINGS DIFFERENT ‘ROUND HERE WITH DEBUT ALBUM

Headline GET THAT MAN A BEER TOUR on Tap Ahead of Jon Pardi and
Jason Aldean Dates

Cover Art Courtesy of BMLG Records

JACKSONVILLE, AL (September 20, 2019) – Echoing the title of his debut album, Riley Green has a different approach. One foot planted firmly in his hometown of Jacksonville, AL and the other crisscrossing the country to fulfill his fans insatiable quest for new music has the singer/songwriter topping radio charts and becoming an in-demand live performer. His music embraces a lifestyle of simplicity and respect that may seem foreign to some, but resonates loudly with Riley and his fans. DIFFERENT 'ROUND HERE celebrates that small-town upbringing across 14 tracks, out now via BMLG Records.

"One of the best things I did was staying out of Nashville at first. While I love it there and am so grateful to have a place at the table - it was great to be able to first build a following by writing songs for the people I saw every week at home and on the road,” explains Riley. “My family and the fans really helped mold me as a songwriter. That's the cool thing about going back home and staying true to my roots. It's a way to remember how I came up with some of these songs in the first place."

Riley is helping carve Country's new path in both the lyrics and how he offers up new songs. Ahead of DIFFERENT ‘ROUND HERE, Riley has often surprised his followers with rapid releases straight from his live shows.

Of the unconventional approach, Riley says, "I play songs and if the fans like it, I'll put it out quickly. I let them be the judge because they’re the reason I get to be on these stages night after night.”

Riley wrote or co-wrote each track on DIFFERENT ‘ROUND HERE and recorded alongside producer Dann Huff and executive producer Jimmy Harnen. The full-length effort offers a perspective Rolling Stone Country describes as "Drinks-in-the-air Nineties country at an Alabama vs. Auburn tailgate” and has already produced a No. 1 hit with “
There Was This Girl.” The title track further cements Riley’s stance on doing things a little different – by staying true to who he is and where he is from while also tipping his hat to the simpler times.

With his debut he also ventures into love-song territory on the new "My First Everything" and "Hard to Leave," which he calls a "tough love song." It's yet another avenue for the artist to distinguish himself.

Sharing credits posthumously with the family patriarchs, People praised another track, “[I Wish Grandpas Never Died] might take him to a whole new stratosphere.” Honoring his late grandfathers, the song quickly amassed more than one million views when a fan posted a clip of Riley performing the heart-wrenching ballad even before he went into the studio. Reflective of the way Riley makes decisions about his music, he saw how the song resonated with audiences and immediately recorded the song. Listeners beyond that show have gravitated to Riley’s latest single and Country radio supported as most added two weeks before the official playlist impact date.

“Runnin’ With An Angel” is another track that Riley first played live and released after an overwhelming demand from fans. Penning the track several years ago after the end of a relationship he explains that as much as he missed her, she might have been better off without him. With honest lyrics steeped in acceptance Riley sings : I think what hurts the most is knowing I'm to blame // And I wish that I could change it // And it wouldn't be this painful // The truth is that the devil had no business // Runnin' with an angel.

Elsewhere on the project, WhiskeyRiff praised “Numbers On The Cars” as "the type of country song that stops you in your tracks, no pun intended. Riley can do it all – the party song, the love song, and the emotional tug-at-your-heartstrings song."
Rolling Stone Country also featured it as one of the Country Songs You Need to Hear Now and prompted Taste of Country to declare, “he's something of a triple-threat in country music right now."

Named an “Artist To Watch” by Rolling Stone Country, Taste of Country, Whiskey Riff, Sounds Like Nashville and iHeartRadio – Riley was also selected as a CMT “Listen Up Artist” and MusicRow 2019 “Next Big Things.”

After spending the summer on Brad Paisley’s 2019 WORLD TOUR, Riley is currently headlining his own GET THAT MAN A BEER TOUR. He will join Jon Pardi’s HEARTACHE MEDICATION TOUR this fall and embark on Jason Aldean’s WE BACK TOUR in 2020. For a full list of dates and more, visit

STYX
RACKING UP SHOWS FOR 2020;

REFLECTS ON A SUCCESSFUL 2019,
AS TOUR DATES CONTINUE
INCLUDING THREE PERFORMANCES OF ‘THE MISSION’ IN ITS ENTIRETY

September 23, 2019 -- Legendary and multi-Platinum rockers STYX--Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitars), James “JY” Young (vocals, guitars), Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), Todd Sucherman (drums) and Ricky Phillips (bass), along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo—are continuing on their never-ending “mission” to bring their music to their loyal fans in 2020 with new tour dates that will keep them on the road throughout the new year.

STYX will launch their 2020 tour in the same place they launched their 2019 tour: at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, AZ on January 10.

Earlier this year, STYX returned to the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV to perform their new album, THE MISSION, which critics have called “a masterpiece,” in its entirety for the first time ever as part of a sold-out two-act concert event. The second act featured all of STYX’s classic hits. The band will now be giving their East Coast fans the chance to witness the unforgettable concert for three shows only: Thursday, November 7 and Saturday, November 16 at the Theatre at Westbury in Westbury, NY, and Saturday, November 9 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA. VIP packages and tickets are currently on sale on the band’s official website, and tickets are available on Livenation.com.

“The show in Las Vegas was so awesome, we wanted to share it with our East Coast friends as well,” says guitarist/singer Tommy Shaw. “Now we can say, this is the day…we’ll be bringing ‘THE MISSION: Live’ to Westbury and Boston!”

STYX returned to Europe earlier this summer for two sold-out headlining shows in London, U.K. and Oslo, Norway, and they performed as part of the Sweden Rock Festival. The first show in London—which was described by the Daily Express as “majestic”--was the first time STYX headlined their own show in the U.K. since 2005 and their first performance since their co-headlining tour with Journey and Foreigner in 2011.

Their ongoing tour continues in support of their 16th studio album, THE MISSION, their first in 14 years which is the band’s most ambitious, most challenging, and most rewarding album to date. It was released June 16, 2017 on the band’s label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe. It debuted on various Billboard charts, including: #6 Top Rock Albums, #11 Physical Albums, #11 Vinyl Albums, #13 Current Albums, #14 Billboard Top Albums, #16 Retail, #17 Mass Merch/Non-Traditional, #29 Digital Albums, and #45 Billboard 200 (includes catalog and streaming). A special two-disc reissue of THE MISSION was released on July 27, 2018 via Alpha Dog 2T/UMe, which includes a CD of the original album, as well as a Blu-ray of THE MISSION mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound by singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw and producer Will Evankovich accompanied by stunning visualizations for each of the album’s 14 songs based on the album artwork. Other extras on the Blu-ray include: “The Making of The Mission Documentary” of exclusive interviews of Shaw and Evankovich, four music videos—“Gone Gone Gone” (official video), “Gone Gone Gone” (video created by NASA), “Radio Silence” (lyric video) and “Radio Silence” (live video from Syracuse, NY)—and three hi-res audio playback modes.

The award comes on the heels of Lynn serving as the leading voice and source of inspiration behind Cracker Barrel's "Five Decades, One Voice," a 50th anniversary program to celebrate iconic female country music artists and shine a spotlight on those following in their footsteps.

"For more than five decades, I've believed in taking chances where the opportunity for success is limited," said Loretta Lynn. "To receive this honor from Cracker Barrel in recognition of all those chances and the career it led me to build is incredibly meaningful to me. It comes at an important time when I see so many female artists fighting for a chance to be heard. I want to help them bring their talents to the table and programs like 'Five Decades, One Voice' do just that. And trust me; there's plenty to go around."

The Cracker Barrel Country Legend Award is an honor given to country musicians with decades in the business, past partnerships with Cracker Barrel's music program, a stated impact and influence on present day artists in the genre. Along with the award, Cracker Barrel is making a $5,000 donation to a charity of Loretta's choice, Grand Ole Opry's Opry Trust Fund, whose mission is to help those in the country music industry when they need it the most, by offering financial assistance during their time of need. The donation was presented to Grand Ole Opry's Vice President and Executive Producer Dan Rogers by Cracker Barrel's Senior Music Manager Julie Ulmer following Loretta's award presentation at her ranch.

"We're honored to present Country Legend Award to Loretta Lynn for her long list of accomplishments in the country music genre, but more importantly, the influence she's had on artists throughout her 60-year career," said Julie Ulmer. "Loretta laid the groundwork for future generations, especially emerging females in the country music industry. There is no one more deserving, and we're grateful for her continued partnership."

Loretta is the second recipient of the award following 2018 winner Randy Travis, who was presented the honor for his impact on the country music genre at large.
