Nashville, Tennessee is a nexus – a point where tradition and innovation intersect, where commerce collides with art. It may be the only town around where salaried songwriters and full-time session musicians are as common as accountants and schoolteachers. Music is the product, and the factories line the street, from the swank Music Row mini-high-rises to the low-slung Sylvan Park bungalows. And only Nashville could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans – each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town’s commercial community – who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls’ reward. In doing so, they are braiding their bluegrass roots with new threads of their own design, bringing together country, soul, and other contemporary influences to create an unapologetic hybrid that is old as the hills but fresh as the morning dew. This is new music with the old feeling. SteelDrivers fan Vince Gill describes the band’s fusion as simply “an incredible combination.”

Talib Kweli
In support of his new album, Prisoner of Conciousness, Talib is taking over Old Rock House alongside his live band and local fav Tef Poe. The new album boasts features from Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, Curren$y, Busta Rhymes and RZA.

According to Talib said "that Prisoner of Consciousness will convey a shift in the way that he approaches writing. "Maybe experimenting might have been the wrong word for me to use, but just a different direction. Songs that are more focused on life and what people are going through, and dealing with the social conditions in that way as opposed to speaking directly to the social conditions. That’s what I’m really trying to do with this album."'

It's safe to say you can expect to hear some of your old favs and future classics.

ZZ Ward And Delta Rae Announce 2013 'Fire And Shine' Co-Headline Tour With Special Guest Martin Harley

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaimed blues-hop singer ZZ Ward and Delta Rae have announced a co-headlining tour to kick off in Denver, CO on January 29, 2013.   Opening the show will be British slide guitar prodigy, Martin Harley.
Ward's unique blend of swampy blues and hip-hop has been drawing critical praise since the release of her Eleven Roses mixtape and continues with her debut, full-length album, Til The Casket Drops, which showcases her songwriting prowess as well as her remarkable voice which Rolling Stone called "chill-inducing." Ward's unique smoky rasp embodies the blues greats who have inspired her, but it's the hip-hop flavor that adds a bold freshness to her musical artistry. "Her unapologetic blend of hip-hop, blues and pop paired with smoky vocals could make this singer a star," exclaimed  USA Today .  After a recent performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno , her foot-stomping single "Put The Gun Down" shot up the alternative charts at iTunes and Amazon.  Currently in the middle of her first headlining tour, including sold-out dates in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Denver and Nashville, Ward's gritty blues-soaked, hip-hop inspired repertoire explodes live as her dynamic vocals captivate with a force prompting the Chicago Tribune to declare, "So what are you waiting for? Go hear her."
It's been a wild couple months for six piece rock band Delta Rae. Their debut album, Carry The Fire, came out this past June (iTunes) and to celebrate, Delta Rae performed their single "Bottom Of The River" on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno. The show liked them so much, they invited them back for round two last night. In between Leno trips, the band performed on Conan, were featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" and selected by Rolling Stone as an "Artist To Watch" for their Women Who Rock campaign. RS flatteringly compared Delta Rae to their favorite band of all time, claiming "If Fleetwood Mac came up in North Carolina, they might resemble Delta Rae." They've been championed by VH1, who selected them as their "You Oughta Know" Artist for October, USA Today, who premiered their new video for "Dance In The Graveyards," KCRW, Billboard, Forbes and ELLE among others. Live is where Delta Rae truly flourish. The band recently sold out headlining gigs at Bowery Ballroom in NYC, The Independent in San Francisco, The Troubadour in LA and in their hometown of Durham, NC at the 1,000 capacity Carolina Theatre. The band tours relentlessly and will be traversing across the country for the foreseeable future.
Opener Martin Harley is an internationally acclaimed slide guitar player and songwriter with a deeply important and respected voice in the evolution of popular blues music. Martin is marking his U.S. debut with the release of his brand new solo album Mojo Fix on 60/20 Records, now available at iTunes. The album comes on the heels of celebrating a #1 album on the iTunes UK blues chart last year with his UK-based acoustic trio, the Martin Harley Band, for Drumrolls for Somersaults. Martin recently released his single of the same name, "Mojo Fix," to radio, which has garnered him an impressive amount of Adds and excitement and is already approaching the top 40 on the national Triple A Radio chart.
The combination of these uniquely dynamic artists will create a live musical experience not to be missed.

NOVEMBER 27, 2012 - LOS ANGELES, CA - Producer, composer, director, and DJ Sam Spiegel today announced the launch of his new project, Maximum Hedrum and the release date of the group's forthcoming self-titled debut album, due out on March 5th 2013 via Spectrophonic Sound. Maximum Hedrum's unique electronic-funk hybrid features Sam Spiegel, the vocals of Derrick Green from the seminal heavy metal band Sepultura, and renowned German musician and producer Harold Faltermeyer, and examines the way our lives are changing through advancements in technology and the Internet. The album's first singles "Keep In Touch" (featuring funk legend George Clinton) and "Synthesize" are available for purchase on iTunes ("Keep In Touch", "Synthesize") and for free download for a limited time via SoundCloud (see below).

Aside from his work producing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Grammy®nominated sophomore album Show Your Bones and scoring countless films, documentaries and commercials, in 2009 Spiegel founded N.A.S.A (North America South America) whose landmark globetrotting debut LP, The Spirit of Apollo featured jaw-dropping collaborations from the likes of Kanye West, George Clinton, M.I.A., Tom Waits, RZA, David Byrne.

The Maximum Hedrum project was instigated by Spiegel's feelings on the advancements of technology and the resulting impact on our lives. "It was a feeling I had to express," he said. "I really wanted to examine the interconnectedness and isolation this shift has brought... and the desperation that fills the Internet."

After numerous experimental late night studio sessions with longtime friend and Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green in Sao Paolo, Brazil the project was officially born. "Derrick has only ever screamed on metal and hardcore albums before, but on this album he's crooning with his bass baritone voice like Isaac Hayes, and also signing crazy falsetto like Prince. It's really a departure from anything that either of us has ever done in the past," said Sam Spiegel.

"I always imagined and desired to use my voice in as many ways unimaginable," said vocalist Derrick Green. "The combination of working together with Sam Spiegel has open many possibility to expand the boundaries of music. The idea of Maximum Hedrum is to break down all concepts and barriers of the mind and explore the unknown fearlessly. The journey is just beginning with so many endless possibilities with Maximum Hedrum."

Heavily rooted in danceable electro-funk with classic synth textures, the album's single "Keep In Touch" is a thumping psychedelic offering that features additional vocals from George Clinton. The song will also be featured in the upcoming Girl Skateboards film Pretty Sweet (see teaser clip below). The massive R&B influenced "Robosexual" incorporates additional percussion from guest collaborator Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, while the dreamy track "PHD" trance pulses with classic hip hop inspired beats. From start to finish, the album is a genuine genre-melding ride.

Maximum Hedrum will kick off 2013 with a live residency at Los Globos in Los Angeles, performing on January 14th, 21st, and 28th. The band will also appear at Austin's South By Southwest in March. Stay tuned for additional live date to be announced as well as an array of music videos, special mixtapes, remixes, and more.
