Nashville, TN (January 15, 2015) – Music Icon GLEN CAMPBELL’S GRAMMY® nominated song “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” can now add OSCAR nominee to its growing list of accolades. It was announced this morning that the song has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in the category of Best Original Song.

The song appears in the critically praised documentary GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME, which follows Glen’s final tour and his struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Written by the legendary musician and producer Julian Raymond, the song is Glen’s final recording. Almost lumbering through the melody, Glen’s weathered tenor confesses the painful truths of what is lost, the cost – and the reality that it will all be lost to him, the man who can’t remember.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, only 20 Oscar nominations have ever been accorded to documentary features in categories other than the one designated for them (Best Documentary). GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE will now be added to that list.

The recording of “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” was captured in a heartfelt scene near the end of the film. See it here.

With a mere handful of piano chords and a swell of harmonies, the song opens into the poignant, yet clear–eyed revelation of the things Alzheimer’s steals.  Pedal steel weeps, strings bathe the melody that rises against drums and an electric guitar that mirrors the unbreakable passage of life and time.

In response to the nomination, JULIAN RAYMOND said, “thank you so much to the Academy voters. This is beyond a dream. I remember my father taking me to the movies to see True Grit as a child. I loved that song and the film featuring the amazing Glen Campbell. To think all these years later I have been able to develop a great friendship and to create new music with Glen is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Director James Keach took a giant chance allowing me to score this film (my first) and bring light to the difficult subject of Alzheimer’s. Big thanks to executive producer Scott Borchetta and his phenomenal Big Machine Label Group for their hard work, vision and courage from day one. Their support helped chart ‘I'm Not Gonna Miss You’ on the radio; the first time for Glen in more than twenty years."

Director JAMES KEACH expressed, "Glen wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and hoped that his story would shine a light on the disease as no one had done before. He had the courage to show us how to live our lives in the moment and to never give up. As Glen said ‘I ain’t done yet' and with your support he continues on his journey to change the conversation about Alzheimer’s. We are all so honored that you have recognized his contribution to raising awareness about this disease.”

With over 14 million music video views and a historic ranking on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, the song immediately struck a chord with fans and has been going strong ever since.

Big Machine Records, the label home to other 2015 GRAMMY nominees Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and The Band Perry, released Glen Campbell...I'll Be Me Soundtrack EP on September 30, 2014. Big Machine Label Group President/CEO SCOTT BORCHETTA serves as an Executive Producer for the film and the soundtrack along with Keach.

NBC News secured an exclusive interview with Glen and the Campbell family in early October sparking a fire that ignited over four million views of the music video within hours. Both NBC Nightly News and TODAY profiled Glen and the music from the film, which was quickly followed by other national press including The New York Times, NPR and The Los Angeles Times.

Praised Rolling Stone of the song, Glen Campbell has recorded his final song and the result, ‘I'm Not Gonna Miss You,’ is a poignant, confessional tune that serves as a stunningly personal coda to a career spent entertaining millions throughout the world.”

Added the Los Angeles Times, “...the heartbreaking famous last words of a real-life country-music icon as the sun sets on his mind. It seems every year, there's a song that proves transcendent. This year's has to be 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You...'"
