ELECTRONIC ARTIST PRETTY LIGHTS ILLUMINATES CHAIFETZ ARENA OCTOBER 11

(July 9, 2013) – Electronic artist Pretty Lights illuminates Chaifetz Arena on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m.  A-Trak and Danny Brown are also scheduled to perform.

Tickets are $25 and $37.50 and go on sale on Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000, all Ticketmaster outlets, and the Chaifetz Arena Box Office.  Lower level tickets guarantee access to only the lower level of Chaifetz Arena and not the floor.  Floor access will be granted to lower level ticket holders only on a first come, first serve basis the night of the show.

Derek Smith, better known as Pretty Lights, is an electronic music artist hailing from Fort Collins, Colorado.  Smith has performed at festivals across the country, including Bonnaroo, Rothbury, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Ultra Music Festival.

Pretty Lights has a unique sound created from digital sampling and heavy use of synthesizers.  Often described as a cross between hip-hop, funk, and electronic music, Pretty Lights has garnered an immense following in only a few years.  His debut album “Taking Up Your Precious Time” includes the single “Finally Moving” which has since been sampled into worldwide hits by artists such as Avicii and Flo Rida. 

Pretty Lights just released his new album titled, “A Color Map of the Sun” on July 2nd, complete with two discs totaling 26 tracks which marks the first time he produced his own originally produced music in its entirety.

Canadian DJ Alain Macklovitch, using the moniker A-Trak, presents an original sound that has captured the admiration of fans and fellow musicians alike.  In his career he boasts a résumé of collaborations with hip hop artists such as Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West.  As a founding member of the record label, Fool’s Gold Records, A-Trak has discovered and signed a multitude of Billboard Top 100 artists. 

American hip hop artist Danny Brown hails from Detroit, Michigan and has been described by MTV as “"one of rap's most unique figures in recent memory."  In 2011, Brown earned Spin‘s #1 hip hop album of the year for his second studio album “XXX”.  Brown was also most notably named one of XXL’s “Top 10 Freshmen”, an annual list of the most promising acts in hip hop.  Brown is known for his outrageous style, often mixing his harsh upbringings in Detroit with humor and wit.

Nearly 20-million people attended more than 11,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year.
