NASHVILLE – Winners in two of the 12 CMA Awards categories were announced live on ABC News’ “Good Morning America” this morning from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, which is the site of “The 49th Annual CMA Awards.”
The news was delivered by GMA anchor Lara Spencer and welcomed by cheers from the thousands of fans gathered on the plaza at the Bridgestone Arena waiting to see three-time CMA Awards nominee Chris Stapleton, and a performance by Country superstar Tim McGraw.
“For a decade, ‘Good Morning America’ has set the tone for Country Music’s Biggest Night by jump starting the day with superstar performances from Nashville,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “Announcing the winners in two of our categories is a great way to generate excitement and celebrate our artists and their music with fans across the country.”
Hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, “The 49th Annual CMA Awards” airs tonight (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Winning CMA Musical Event of the Year was Keith Urban and Eric Church for “Raise ‘Em Up.” This is Urban’s fourth win in the category. Previous wins include “Start A Band” with Paisley (2009); “Highway Don’t Care” with McGraw and Taylor Swift (2013); and We Were Us” with Miranda Lambert (2014). This win ties him with Vince Gill, McGraw, and Paisley for the most wins in the category. Urban is the only artist to win three years in a row.
"I've been real fortunate to get to collaborate with some great artists, but doing this song with Eric was truly magical," said Urban. "It's an incredible piece of songwriting, and we're both so grateful it's resonated the way it has! Big shout out to our fans and to Country radio and TV for all the support we've had along the way!"
One of the top nominees in 2015, this is Church’s second CMA Award – his first was for Album of the Year for Chief in 2012. His nominations include Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Single of the Year for “Talladega,” and Song of the Year for “Like A Wrecking Ball,” which he co-wrote with Casey Beathard
Winning CMA Music Video of the Year was Maddie & Tae and director TK McKamy for “Girl In A Country Song,” which generated widespread talk about gender role reversals, turning the tables on male/female lyrical stereotypes. Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye, who recently turned 20, were just 17 when they penned the song. The pair received two additional nominations in 2015 including Vocal Duo and New Artist of the Year.
“I can’t even believe this!” said Marlow. “Last year, we were just excited to be going and being on the red carpet – and now we’ve got our first CMA Award?! That’s crazy, and awesome, and wow!”
Dye added, “This video was so much fun, but it also go a lot of people talking – and it says some stuff about what makes girls matter. I’m honored people saw it as we meant it: more than a joke, but proof you can speak your mind and not be mean.”
This marked the fourth year the categories were announced on “Good Morning America.” In previous years, the winners were announced in pre-televised activities and acknowledged during the CMA Awards broadcast. Frankie Ballard will host pre-tel ceremonies tonight and will present the trophies to the winners as well as Musician of the Year. In addition, Ballard will present two special industry honors and the CMA Broadcast Awards for Personality and Radio Station of the Year. The recipients will be acknowledged during the broadcast and participate in backstage media interviews.

VINCE GILL, BRAD PAISLEY, AND KEITH URBAN PAY TRIBUTE TO GLEN CAMPBELL ON "THE 45TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS"

NASHVILLE - Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley and former CMA Entertainers of the Year Vince Gill and Keith Urban will pay tribute to Country Music Hall of Fame member and former CMA Entertainer of the Year Glen Campbell during "The 45th Annual CMA Awards." The three guitar virtuosos' performance saluting the legendary singer/musician will be a highlight of "Country Music's Biggest Night(tm)."

"The 45th Annual CMA Awards," hosted by Paisley and Carrie Underwood, airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. Previously announced performers include Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Thompson Square, Keith Urban, Chris Young, and Zac Brown Band, plus Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter singing their hit collaboration "You and Tequila;" Rascal Flatts and Natasha Bedingfield singing their current hit duet "Easy;" Lionel Richie performing a medley of hits with Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, and Darius Rucker; and co-hosts Paisley and Underwood in their first live televised-performance of their No. 1 song "Remind Me."

Campbell was named both CMA Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year in 1968, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. The legendary performer has sold more than 45 million albums and recorded such classic hits as "Wichita Lineman," "Gentle On My Mind," "Galveston," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Southern Nights," and "Rhinestone Cowboy." As a musician, Campbell was part of the much-heralded Wrecking Crew that performed on a variety of artists' albums. His guitar prowess is featured on the Beach Boys' seminal album Pet Sounds and on Frank Sinatra's megahit "Strangers in the Night," among others. He acted alongside John Wayne in the movie "True Grit," and hosted "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" on television from 1968-1972. Earlier this year, Campbell announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He is in the midst of his successful Goodbye Tour after releasing his final album, the critically-acclaimed Ghost on the Canvas.

Gill is No. 3 on the list for the most career wins in CMA Award history, having won 18 CMA Awards thus far, including two Entertainer Awards (1993, 1994), five consecutive Male Vocalist Awards (1991-1995, tying him with George Strait for the most wins in that category), two Album Awards (1993 for I Still Believe in You and 1994 for Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles), and a record-holding four Song of the Year Awards (1991 for "When I Call Your Name," 1992 for "Look at Us," 1993 for "I Still Believe In You," and 1996 for "Go Rest High On That Mountain"). Gill served as host of the CMA Awards for 12 consecutive years (1992-2003), a record for hosts of any nationally televised Awards show. He released his new album, Guitar Slinger, last week.

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, Paisley received five nominations in 2011 for Entertainer; Male Vocalist; Album for This is Country Music; and Musical Event and Music Video of the Year for "Old Alabama," featuring Alabama. Paisley has won 14 CMA Awards to date, including three consecutive Male Vocalist Awards (2007-2009) and Album of the Year (in 2006 for Time Well Wasted). This is his fourth consecutive year to co-host the CMA Awards with Underwood.

Urban received two nominations this year: Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year. He has won four CMA Awards to date: Entertainer in 2005 and three consecutive Male Vocalist of the Year Awards (2004-2006). Urban's current album is Get Closer.

"The 45th Annual CMA Awards" is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and David Wild is the writer. The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.

Superstar Keith Urban Announces Worldwide Launch of New Men's Cologne: PHOENIX by Keith Urban

NEW YORK, Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Four-time Grammy Award Winning artist Keith Urban is set to release his first fragrance for men, PHOENIX by Keith Urban, in partnership with Boom LLC.  The fragrance, which launches worldwide in the fall, is not only reflective of his personal triumphs, but is also an expression of his spirit. The phoenix symbol resonates with Urban for its immortality and ability to renew and be reborn.
Urban says, "I grew up with a father that had great taste in music, cars and colognes.  So the idea to eventually create my own fragrance seemed natural.  I've always loved the feeling that comes from finding the right scent and the way it can say so much about a person.  We created Phoenix to express just the right blend of masculinity, mystery and sensuality."
Urban worked closely with Boom on the creative package design and fragrance development. "Keith was very hands-on with this process and we are confident that it will be well received by his fans and that his international appeal will translate into commercial success for PHOENIX," says Art DeGaetano, President & CEO at Boom LLC.
Urban envisioned PHOENIX as a modern twist on a classic, creating a leathery gourmand scent described as sexy, rich and masculine.  The fragrance is introduced with top notes of blackberries, cognac and plum; segues into the aromas of dark chocolate and crisp fir balsam with a finish of warm cashmere wood in the background.
Fans will get a sneak peek of PHOENIX during Urban's 50+ city Get Closer 2011 world tour. The promotional campaign, which features giveaways and sampling opportunities – including the distribution of scented PHOENIX tattoos at all future concert venue stops in the USA – marks the first time a cologne will be marketed in conjunction with a country music concert tour.  Fans will also have access to an exclusive online pre-sale at www.KeithUrban.net/PHOENIX.
PHOENIX will launch internationally to mass-market retailers, including CVS, Rite-Aid and Sears in the U.S., Shopper's Drug Mart in Canada and Target and David Jones in Australia, beginning in October.  The price point ranges from $24-$48.

JAKE OWEN WILL RELEASE HIS THIRD STUDIO ALBUM
BAREFOOT BLUE JEAN NIGHT ON AUGUST 30

JAKE HITS THE ROAD WITH KEITH URBAN THIS WEEKEND ON THE
GET CLOSER 2011 WORLD TOUR

Nashville, TN – RCA recording artist Jake Owen announced today that his third studio album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, will be released on August 30.

“It is kind of ironic that my new album is being released on August 30, two days after I turn 30 and this is my third record,” says Jake. “This album is a big step for me and my career and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

The forthcoming album includes 11 tracks, six produced by Joey Moi and Rodney Clawson and five tracks produced by Tony Brown.

The debut single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” is the fastest rising single of Jake’s career. It has been racing up the charts since it was released and currently holds the No. 17 position on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and is No. 16 on Country Aircheck.

“Barefoot Blue Jean Night” is currently No. 8 on the Digital Country Songs chart, selling over 44K which is up 41% from last week. To purchase the digital single, click here: http://bit.ly/dIbNWx

Jake hits the road with Keith Urban this weekend for the kick-off dates of the Get Closer 2011 World Tour, which begins on Thursday, June 16 in Biloxi, MS.

“I have always wanted to go out on the road with Keith,” says Jake. “He really inspires me as a songwriter, musician and entertainer. Keith is the real deal and one of the most amazing talents our genre has ever seen.”

“It meant the world to me that Keith called me up last week and invited me to join him on stage for a song during his set at LP Field,” reflects Jake. “Performing ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You’ with him was definitely a career highlight. To have Keith playing electric guitar and singing harmony with me on a song that I wrote was so awesome. Then, when the audience sang the words back to us at the top of their lungs, it was the coolest moment I have experienced in my career so far. It was surreal.”
