DISPATCH TO STREAM SOLD OUT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL CONCERT ON OCTOBER 5TH LIVE FROM NEW YORK CITY
BAND PLANS PRE-SHOW SERVICE PROJECTS AROUND THE COUNTRY THROUGH THEIR 'AMPLIFYING EDUCATION' CAMPAIGN
LOS ANGELES, CA - September 5, 2012 - Dispatch
today announced that fans will be able to stream their forthcoming Sold
Out concert at New York City's historic Radio City Music Hall on
Friday, October 5th. Available via The Bowery Presents Live channel on
YouTube, the concert stream will be broadcast worldwide, live in HD.
Fans around the world can tune in at http://www.youtube.com/thebowerypresents to watch the show and participate in a live chat.
Dispatch's first album in over a decade, Circles Around The Sun, was
released on August 21st via the band's own Bomber Records and debuted
at Number 24 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, marking their highest
chart entry in their 16-year career. The album also debuted as the
Number 10 Digital Album in the U.S. and earned the band career high
debuts in Germany, Canada, and Austria.
Since
the very beginning, Dispatch has been a band that has stood up and
rallied its fans behind causes that challenge the status quo. In
continuing the tradition of integrating a message with their music, the
band will participate in a variety of activities to support their Amplifying Education
campaign, which mobilizes the Dispatch community to take small actions
to address America's education crisis and make a difference in the lives
of children across the country.
While
on the road this fall, a crew of fan volunteers will join the band for
an Amplifying Education Alternative Break Tour; a unique trip for
Dispatch fans who want to create change through hands-on service and
activism. Traveling from Denver through Minneapolis (September 28th -
October 2nd), the volunteers will complete service projects at local
schools during the day, serve as concert outreach volunteers before the
shows, and then catch the band live onstage at night.
In
addition, a special service project has been planned for October 6th in
Boston, MA where members of the community will be encouraged to join
the band, Radio 92.9 (WBOS), and City Year Boston
to help improve the facilities of the Boston Arts Academy, a pilot
school charged with being a beacon for artistic and academic innovation
that is greatly in need of facility improvements. Service projects have
also been planned in Denver (9/29), Chicago (10/3), and Metro NYC
(10/5). For more information on how to get involved, visit http://amplifyingeducation.org.
Over
the last year, Amplifying Education has engaged over 600 fan volunteers
in nearly 4,000 hours of service to improve schools across North
America and Europe; collected over 10,000 book donations to support
local literacy programs through Better World Books; and raised over
$250,000 through a portion of ticket sales, benefit shows, and
fan-to-fan outreach shows to support local organizations like City Year
Denver, Teach for America, and The Waterside School. Dispatch donated
$1.00 per initial album pre-order to Amplifying Education and will
donate an additional $1.00 from all tickets sold for the upcoming Circles Around The Sun tour to the cause.
