Mato Nanji’s always provided the heartbeat of the band Indigenous — along with the warm dusty voice and the soaring, spirited guitar fireworks that have earned the group from South Dakota’s Nakota Nation a place among roots rock’s elite. But with the emotionally charged and musically visceral Broken Lands, the band’s second album on Vanguard Records, Nanji makes a transformation from sparkplug to visionary. "Now Indigenous is a new band again and I feel that same excitement," he continues. "But this time — when we start touring in August — I want to take these new songs and this great sounding band all over the world."

The GrandMothers of Invention are the only Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention alumni who have been consistently performing the music of the maestro since 2003. They have performed on a very long list of classic Frank Zappa & the Mother's of Invention's albums, movies and other projects. The GrandMothers were formed in August of 2002, when four legendary former members of Frank Zappa's “The Mothers of Invention”, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Roy Estrada, Bunk Gardner, and Don Preston were invited to perform the music of Frank Zappa in Leipzig, Germany.

Marcia Ball
Thursday, October 18th
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$20 Flat
All Ages
 *on-sale Tue. 6/19 @ 5pm

Marcia Ball is a woman with a reputation. The Texas-born, Louisiana-raised pianist/vocalist/songwriter is famed worldwide for igniting a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she strolls on stage. Ball’s groove-laden New Orleans boogie and rollicking Gulf Coast blues have made her a one-of-a-kind favorite with music fans all over the world. But she’s also a master at transfixing her audience with an emotionally rich, passionately sung ballad. On her new CD, Roadside Attractions (her 15th solo recording), Ball’s songwriting is at the forefront, ranging from tales of wild parties to stories of twisted motel affairs to declarations of the enduring power of love and family. Roadside Attractions is certainly more than capable of starting a no-holds-barred bash. But more than that, it’s a tour-de-force of Marcia’s seemingly endless talent, and among the most emotionally moving recordings she has ever made.
