Roster McCabe likes to stay one step ahead. Musically, people know
they love it, but they can't fully describe it. The bands coined phrase
“Funky Reggae Dance Rock” gives a good hint of what you can expect from
the 5 piece rock band, but speaks nothing to the depth and sincerity of
the music. Professionally, the band is leading the way in the
independent music world. Giving away all of their music for free, Roster
McCabe has built a large, loyal following eager to share their music
and bring friends to the live shows.

Brendan Benson is a genuine American voice. A co-founding member of
The Raconteurs, Benson has released critically-acclaimed albums
throughout the past decade. The songs come rough-hewn but charged with
hooks and wit on 1996's One Mississippi. 2002's Lapalco brought perfect
pop ripeness. On The Alternative to Love in 2005, there was something
quite brilliant, quite burnished about his songwriting. This year's
offering, My Old, Familiar Friend, gathers all of these influences --
the Americanness, the Anglophile twist, the geography, the rock and the
pop -- and creates something truly exceptional.

“Really good, really unexpected, and really different” is how Village
Voice describes Girlyman’s lyric driven folk-pop. But that can also
describe the year that inspired their fifth studio album Supernova,
available June 19th. “A supernova is a dying star,” explains Girlyman
member Doris Muramatsu, who was diagnosed with leukemia in late 2010.
The three founding members of Girlyman (Muramatsu, Nate Borofsky, and
Tylan Greenstein) had spent ten years playing and singing harmony
together, from early days in tiny coffeehouses, through long opening
runs with the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams, all the way to festival
main stages and the country’s premier acoustic venues. The band, now a
quartet with the addition of former Po’ Girl drummer JJ Jones in 2009,
suddenly feared for its future.

Steve Forbert is a romantic. The same wry, funny, anecdotal Steve
Forbert that we’ve enjoyed over the years is also the songwriter who
penned the poignant line “meet me in the middle of the night, let me
hear you say everything’s alright, let me smell the moon in your
perfume” in his 1981 hit single “Romeo’s Tune.” And even though these
types of songs have lived somewhat in the shadow of his other material,
Steve has now written a collection of tender, mature songs about love
and relationships.
