JASON ISBELL
Southeastern is not a record Jason has made before, and not simply because the glorious storm and drama of his band, the 400 Unit, is absent. They will tour together; it’s not a break-up record, not an album of dissolving, but, rather, songs of discovery. And not at all afraid, not even amid the tears.  Which is to say that he has grown up.

That it has been a dozen years since he showed up at a party and left in the Drive-By Truckers’ van with two travel days to learn their songs. And then taught them some of his songs in the bargain.
Jason Isbell’s solo career has seemed equally effortless, from Sirens of the Ditch (2007) to Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit (2009), through Here We Rest (2011) and last year’s Live From Alabama. Loud records, unrepentantly southern, resplendent with careful songwriting. Songs which inspire and intimidate other musicians, and critics.

“A heart on the run / keeps a hand on the gun / can’t trust anyone,” Jason sings just now, his words brushing gently atop an acoustic guitar figure “Cover Me Up,” the song with which he has chosen to open Southeastern. Such tenderness. An act of contrition, an affirmation of need, his voice straining not to break: “Girl leave your boots by the bed / We ain’t leaving this room / Till someone needs medical help / Or the magnolias bloom.”

He sighs into the phone, considering what he’s done, and why. “I’m really purposefully ignorant of any sort of sales consideration, or radio considerations, or anything like that,” Jason says. “Before I’d felt like, this song needs to be this length, or this song needs to be mastered in this way, or this song needs to have drums on it, or this song needs a bigger hook. I just completely did away with all those considerations for this record. And made it as if I were really just making it for me, and for people like me who listen to entire albums.”

Raw, open, and reflective. Sobriety can be like that. Jason’s made it past his first year, which is rather more than a promise and will always be far from a guarantee. Treatment programs teach that one should let go, easier said than done. Perhaps that’s why Isbell was willing to trust his songs to David Cobb. Cobb has produced Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson and the Secret Sisters, but it was a Squidbillies’ session with George Jones which finally brought his work to Jason’s attention. “The song that he did with George Jones was a minute and a half, two minutes long,” Jason says, “but the production of it was perfect because he nailed every single era of George’s career, and that really impressed me. A lot.”

Jason Isbell chooses his words carefully and speaks them softly, only the gentle lilt of south Alabama left for shading. “A lot of my favorite songwriters and recording artists are afraid,” he says. “Afraid to turn anything over to a producer, so they continue to make the same record over and over and over and over. More often than not, really. It’s really frustrating for me.”

There had been other plans for the album, as there always are, and for the first time Jason had the songs done well before production commenced. In the inevitable way of things, it all came together in a rush. They finished recording at midnight on a Thursday. Friday he and Amanda Shires went to their rehearsal dinner, got married Saturday, and had to wait until they returned from their honeymoon to approve the mastered album.

It is Amanda’s voice and violin joining with Jason on “Traveling Alone,” as evocative a song of loneliness as anyone’s written since “Running On Empty.” A promise. The songs are invested with Jason’s particular, personal truths, but they’re not about him. Or, rather, the emotional truths are probably about the songwriter, but not the stories he’s telling. “Live Oak” opens with an a cappella verse: “There’s a man who walks beside me / He is who I used to be / I wonder if she sees him / And confuses him with me?” It is the kind of question a man asks as he readies to marry a woman who met him and knew him and loved him before sobriety stuck (and a question a singer might well ask his audience under the same circumstances), though the story is about a roving criminal in either the 18th or 20th centuries.

It is not, to be clear, an acoustic album. “Flying Over Water” and “Super 8” have more than the requisite amount of guitar squawl to propel them. But it is the quite, contemplative songs that lure you in out of the rain, and those songs especially that draw one into the arc of the entire album. To the elegance of “Songs That She Sings in the Shower”: “With a stake / Held to my eye / I had to summon the confidence needed/To hear her good-bye.”

“I’ve done my part,” Jason says, his dry chuckle trailing off. “I make things and other people try to sell those things. I try not to mix the two together. I think that’s just a better way to make more quality things.” He is, of course, right.

FORTHCOMING BOOK 'DELTA LADY' WILL TURN A FASCINATING PAGE ON A LEGENDARY VOICE & CAREER THAT DEFINED HER GENERATION AND BEYOND

Music icon Rita Coolidge has signed with Harper Collins for a 2015 book release that will offer readers an intimate and fascinating journey into her personal story of survival as well as her professional emergence as an influential force amid the iconic music and musicians that built the foundation of the 60’s-70’s pop/rock universe in American culture.

Collaborating with best-selling  Laurel Canyon author, Michael Walker, Delta Lady will trace Coolidge’s life from small town Tennessee, through the Memphis music scene of the late ‘60’s and finally to Los Angeles where she found fame as a singer/songwriter.  Focusing on her relationships with some of the leading stars of the era—including Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Leon Russell, her friendship with Joe Cocker and her high profile marriage to fellow superstar Kris Kristofferson, Delta Lady will be more than a well- tuned music business scrapbook/memoir of the faces and places Coolidge recalls on the well-documented career path that impacted her generation and beyond with her signature songs, definitive sound and ethereal beauty.  The book promises to expose the deep spiritual and emotional roots of Coolidge’s life that provided the bedrock of her survival through and beyond the tumultuous time or change in the social landscape of America and its music.

Based in the surfing mecca of Hossegor in Southwestern France, Rory Williams (keys, vocals), Jed Laidlaw (drums), Robin Windram (guitar), and Pete Harper (bass), morphed from full time surfers making music for fun, into a full time band within just a year's time.
The band's sound is communicated loud and clear through their first single " She Wants,” a driving song that lyrically narrates the thematic core of the EP...Girls, "lots of girls, different girls," laughs lead singer Rory.
Girls aside, the band is still very much centered on surfing, and is "still based in Hossegor,” says Rory. “That was part of the deal. We couldn’t write the songs we do living in, say, London. Hossegor is where we feel relaxed enough to write, where the magic happens. It’s our fairyland. Whatever happens with the music, nothing will stop us surfing.”

AC/DC 'Rock or Bust' Available December 2 TURNER SPORTS TO PREMIERE NEW TRACK 'PLAY BALL' AS PART OF 2014 MLB ON TBS POSTSEASON CAMPAIGN

Columbia Records proudly announces the release of 'Rock or Bust,' the highly anticipated new studio album from AC/DC, available December 2, 2014. 'Rock or Bust' is the band's first studio album in six years and features 11 new tracks.  'Rock or Bust' follows the immensely successful 'Black Ice' album, which debuted at #1 in 31 countries upon its release in 2008 and has gone on to sell nearly 8 million copies worldwide.

'Rock or Bust' was recorded in Spring 2014 at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC and finds AC/DC once again working with producer Brendan O'Brien and mixer Mike Fraser.

On September 27, Turner Sports began providing fans a sneak peek of the new track 'Play Ball' as part of the 2014 Major League Baseball Postseason campaign.  The content will run for several weeks across TBS, the exclusive home to this year's American League Postseason coverage, as well as leading media brands within the Turner portfolio.
'Rock or Bust' is the first AC/DC album in the band's 41 year history without founding member Malcolm Young on the recordings.  Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band.  AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of 'Rock or Bust' in 2015.  Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on 'Rock or Bust' and will accompany the band on tour.

Black Sabbath to record new album, embark on final tour in 2015, according to Osbourne

Black Sabbath apparently have at least one more studio album — and one more tour — left in the tank.
The trio (no word on if they will become a quartet again) will start working on a new studio album in 2015; that album will be followed by a final tour.
"The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great," Ozzy Osbourne told Metal Hammer. "We all made friends, we didn't fuck around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we're going to do one more album and a final tour.
"Once the dust settled after the last tour, we started discussing the idea, because we were getting asked about it all the time. I said to [wife/manager] Sharon, 'What's going on? Because if there's no more Sabbath, I want to get on with my own thing again,' and she came back and said, 'Let me look into it.'
"Three weeks later, I asked her about it again, and she said, 'Oh, I still have to talk to so and so...' and I said 'Sharon, I ain't fucking 21 anymore. If we're going to do it, I want to do it before I'm 70!' Time isn't on our side! So she made the call and came back and said, 'Yeah, the record company wants another album.' I believe [producer] Rick Rubin is going to do it with us again."
No new material has yet been written for the album, which will be the band's 14th, but Osbourne says sessions will begin early next year.
"It'll be sooner rather than later," he added. "Obviously a lot of it is coming down to Tony [Iommi]'s health, he's obviously got his cancer treatment, but we'll get onto it next year. I don't know if we'll be writing in England or L.A., but I'll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!"
Butler recently said the trio have a head start on a new record.
"We've still got four tracks left over from [13]. So maybe we'll fill in the other four or five tracks and put out another album — if it's right. We wouldn't do it just for the sake of it, or the money or whatever. But yeah, maybe."
13, the first Black Sabbath album since 1978 to feature Osbourne, Iommi and Butler, reached No. 1 in the U.S., the U.K. and several other countries. Drummer Bill Ward was on board for the reunion when it was announced in November 2011, but he backed out soon after due to contractual issues. We await word on whether or not Ward will be part of the festivities in 2015.

About Metallica
Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, Metallica have become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide and playing to millions of fans the world over. They have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991's "Metallica" (commonly referred to as "The Black Album"), which is the best selling album in the history of Soundscan, scanning 16 million albums in the United States alone. Their latest studio album, Death Magnetic, was certified platinum just six weeks after it debuted atop the Billboard Top 200 Album chart in October 2008. "Death Magnetic" charted at #1 in 32 countries and sold five million copies worldwide. Metallica have also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.  The band celebrated its 30th-Anniversary in 2011 with a week's worth of fan club concerts at the Fillmore Theater in San Francisco, CA. In 2012, Metallica unveiled a brand new stage in Mexico City that featured iconic elements that spanned its 30-year career and is featured in the film Metallica Through the Never. They played eight shows to nearly 180,000 fans at the Sports Arena in Mexico City.  Picturehouse released Metallica Through the Never in North America on September 27, 2013. The music-driven, 3D motion picture film immerses audiences in a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience with spectacular live performance footage of Metallica's most iconic songs -- created exclusively for film -- combined with a bold, narrative story featuring imagery drawn from the band's trailblazing iconography.  In December 2013, Metallica performed a rare concert in Antarctica where all attendees listened to the performance through headphones to protect the environment. With that show, the band made history by becoming the first act to ever play all seven continents (all within a year), earning themselves a spot in the 60th Anniversary Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.  Metallica performed "One" with Chinese Pianist and Grammy Ambassador Lang Lang on the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on January 26th and two days later Metallica Through the Never was released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

A Musical Dream Come True For Barry Manilow

New Album, MY DREAM DUETS, Set for Release on October 27th

MY DREAM DUETS Features Duets with Iconic Artists Whitney Houston, John Denver, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong and More

Modern technology has given GRAMMY®, TONY®, and EMMY® Award-winning musician and pop legend Barry Manilow the opportunity to record his "dream" duets with his own musical heroes on his latest album, MY DREAM DUETS.  From cherished idols like Judy Garland and Louis Armstrong to contemporary icons like Whitney Houston and John Denver, they have all joined Barry in his "virtual recording studio."  MY DREAM DUETS is set for release on October 27, 2014.
Through the miracle of modern technology, the original vocal tracks for each guest artist on MY DREAM DUETS have been extracted from their original source recordings, allowing Manilow to re-orchestrate the arrangements, record new musical tracks, and then transport the guest vocals into vibrant new settings. In this way, he not only pays homage to his duet partners but, he also brings them into the modern era by transforming them into recordings that are instantly familiar yet refreshingly new.
"The songs have all new arrangements and sound as if they were recorded yesterday," said Manilow.  "The album is a miracle. It's been a huge undertaking, musically and technically," he added.
Manilow's joy standing shoulder-to-shoulder next to these musical giants is evident on each track.
Manilow added, "Having the opportunity to record these legendary standards with artists whom I admire so much was really a dream come true."
Manilow recently signed to Universal Music's VERVE MUSIC label headed by GRAMMY® award-winner and hit-maker David Foster.
"In addition to being one of the world's most successful singers, songwriters, performers and recording artists, Barry is an absolutely brilliant arranger and musician," said David Foster, Record Producer and Chairman of the Verve Music Group.  "The way he has taken the classic solo performances of the many iconic artists on MY DREAM DUETS, transforming them into songs arranged for two voices, is an incredible artistic accomplishment.  This album is really a crowning achievement in an unprecedented career spanning many decades. I couldn't be more proud to welcome Barry to the Verve family," Foster continued.

This powerful portrait of the life and career of great American music icon Glen Campbell reveals to the viewer the world of the singular talent who created hits like Rhinestone Cowboy, Wichita Lineman, Southern Nights and Gentle on My Mind.  Winner of the Grammy for Lifetime Achievement and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Glen was the first country music star to cross over to the pop charts, opening a new realm of opportunity for generations of country musicians.  In 2011, when Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life.  Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world.  The Campbell family then embarked on a short "Goodbye Tour," but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.  This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.  GLEN CAMPBELL…I'LL BE ME is the true tale of how America's greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.

After the resounding underground success of their 2010 release Monument, MISS MAY I took a step beyond the metalcore world they had grown up in with the release of their album At Heart in 2012. The record, produced by renowned record producer Machine (Lamb Of God), proved to be one of the strongest and most surprising metal records of the last few years, spawning huge singles in the songs ‘Hey Mister’ and ‘Day By Day’. Entering the Billboard Top 200 charts in its first week at #32, At Heart saw the band embrace a more mainstream metal approach to their music. During their 2012 Vans Warped Tour main stage onslaught, the At Heart campaign made massive leaps, seeing MISS MAY I nominated for ‘Best New Talent’ award at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, as well as headlining the Alternative Press 2012 Tour, and picking up support at Active Rock Radio for the first time. On the live side, the band was hand-picked for tours with the likes of Five Finger Death PunchKillswitch Engage and Bullet For My Valentine.
