WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Southern Rock icons, Lynyrd Skynyrd, kicked off their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour, presented by SiriusXM and produced by Live Nation, Saturday night in West Palm Beach, Florida at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre, the fourth time since the 90s the band has started a tour at the seasoned outdoor shed if you ask guitarist Rickey Medlocke (his first show reunited with the band was on this very stage in 1995). The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s, joined by friends Jamey Johnson, Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot, started their two-year farewell tour with a resounding downbeat rocking the packed crowd that extended to the furthest boundaries of the grassy lawn.

In a walk-up to the show, The Tampa Bay Times interviewed Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant and Medlocke during a recent fans-only SiriusXM show in Atlanta around their "Free Bird" Southern Rock Pop-up Channel affirming Lynyrd Skynyrd has solidified their place in history as “one of the biggest bands ever to come out of Florida.” With a 90+ minute set encompassing timeless hits like “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” and rarity “The Ballad of Curtis Lowe,” the evening wind picked up in sync with the set list’s tempo as they transitioned seamlessly into “Sweet Home Alabama” before a 13+ minute “Free Bird,” reminding the audience why Rolling Stone magazine calls them one of the 100 Greatest Bands of All Time.

The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour marks a big moment for generations of fans, as the band has been touring consistently since the 90s. After a career that has spanned more than 40 years and includes a catalog of more than 60 albums with more than 30 million units sold, the band, that USA Today called the “whiskey-soaked genre's most popular and influential crew,” is ready to rock one last time. The farewell tour will take original member Rossington joined by Van Zant, Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington, Carol Chase and special guest Jim Horn across the country over the next two years.

Stay tuned for the announcement of additional dates for the second leg of the farewell tour.

The band took a decade-long hiatus before reuniting for a tour and live album, Southern by the Grace of God. Since then, the band has toured and recorded extensively, with their most recent release being Last Of A Dyin’ Breed. The band’s current line-up includes original member Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase. "It's hard to imagine, after all these years, the band that Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins and myself started back in Jacksonville, would resonate for this long and to so many generations of fans. I’m certain they are looking down from above, amazed that the music has touched so many," said Gary Rossington, original and founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Lead vocalist, Johnny Van Zant added, "we’ve been blessed by these great songs and the messages they carry to the fans. It’s been a true honor to try and fill in my brother’s footsteps for the past 31 years, keeping the music and his spirit alive."

In addition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, numerous friends including but not limited to: Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, Bad Company, Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Blackberry Smoke and Blackfoot, will perform as special guests on the tour. The tour derives its name from their new song, "The Last of the Street Survivors" and the band’s fifth studio album Street Survivors that is certified multi-Platinum by the RIAA and includes the Platinum-certified single, “What’s Your Name.”

The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour marks a big moment for the three generation of fans, as the band has been consistently touring since it took a decade off in 1977. The iconic group is widely known for their live performances that usually include their beloved, elongated version of “Free Bird,” most often played at the end of their set, and their live albums including their multi-Platinum certified One More from the Road.

The Southern Rockers are best known for the RIAA Platinum-certified “Sweet Home Alabama” and self-proclaimed signature song, “Free Bird,” that Rolling Stone said was “easily the most requested live song in existence.” With more than 30 million units sold over their career, the band, that USA Today called the “whiskey-soaked genre's most popular and influential crew,” has become a cultural icon that has spanned five decades. With everlasting hits such as “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “You Got that Right,” and more, Rolling Stone named Lynyrd Skynyrd one of its 100 Greatest Bands of All Time.

Stay tuned for future announcements and specific tour line-ups in your markets.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD AND BAD COMPANY  ANNOUNCE THE 40 TOUR - A 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
SUMMER CO-HEADLINE TOUR OF 12 DATES

Both Bands Will Supplement This Joint Excursion With Individual Headline Dates

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company have announced The 40 Toura co-headline tour that takes the bands coast-to-coast for 12 dates.  Both bands celebrate significant 40th anniversaries in 2013, with Lynyrd Skynyrd having released their debut album on August 13, 1973 and Bad Company being formed that same year.  While the pair have shared the stage and Paul Rodgers has toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company and Skynyrd have never toured as co-headliners together.

Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd has maintained a tremendous legacy that began over 40 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and continues with the recently released Last Of A Dying Breed (Roadrunner).  The band's career was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, and then subsequently faced adversity through the losses of Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on.  With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations.  The current line-up features Gary Rossington (Guitar), Johnny Van Zant (Vocals), Rickey Medlocke (Guitar), Mark "Sparky" Matejka (Guitar), Michael Cartellone (Drums), Johnny Colt (Bass), Peter Keys (Keyboards), and Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase as The Honkettes (Backing Vocals).

Bad Company were dubbed a super-group upon the  band's formation due to the union of Free's Paul Rodgers (Vocals / Multi-Instrumentalist) with Mott The Hoople's Mick Ralphs (Guitar) plus King Crimson's Boz Burrell (Bass) and Free's Simon Kirke (Drums).  Over the next nine years, the band released a string of six albums, yielding international hits "Can't Get Enough," "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love," and many others penned by the main songwriters Paul Rodgers and Mick Ralphs. Original members Rodgers, Ralphs, and Kirke will be joined by guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning (from Paul Rodgers solo band).  Original bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006.

Bad Company has inspired many of today's musicians.  Most notably, Metal band Five Finger Death Punch who scored a #1 Active Rock hit with a cover of the song "Bad Company". Since 2001, the band has only played 11 isolated performances, and has not staged a tour of The United States until now.  In front of the run, Rodgers shares, "When Mick and I formed the band in the 70's we were amazed at the instant success.  It didn't hurt to have Led Zeppelin behind us, and we wrote some decent songs that still resonate.  This one is for fans."

Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant offers, "Every member of Skynyrd has been fans of Bad Company from the get go.  Personally, Paul is one of my favorite rock singers.  We have a deep appreciation for Bad Company’s music and look forward to being on the road with them and sharing the stage.”  Paul Rodgers reveals, "The Skynyrds and I go back to the 70's and the days and nights at the Hyatt House on Sunset in LA aka the Riot House.  In the 90's the band introduced me to my wife Cynthia, and that's why I am so damned happy and healthy these years."

Special guests and Kentucky-bred hard rockers, Black Stone Cherry, will be kicking things off on The 40 Tour.  Their music has been described as Southern-fried hard rock about everything from being proud of where you come from and true to who you are.

The co-headline tour will stage performances at the following venues:

The deluxe collection will include a CD featuring 14 of the band’s greatest hits, featuring “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Saturday Night Special,” “That Smell” and a live “Free Bird”; a seven-track DVD-Video from a live performance on BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test, and a 10-song DVD-Audio/Video boasting 10 classic songs newly mixed in 5.1 surround sound by Grammy-winning producer Elliott Scheiner.

The BBC DVD features live performances of “Double Trouble,” “I Ain’t The One,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “I Got The Same Old Blues,” “Every Mother’s Son,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird” from a performance originally broadcasted on November 11, 1975.

There are also some rare gems, including an acoustic version of “All I Can Do Is Write About It” on Disc 1 and a scintillating take on J. J. Cale’s “I Got The Same Old Blues” from the Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC DVD disc.

On August 21, Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records will release the band's new studio album, Last of a Dyin' Breed. The release marks the legendary Southern rockers' first release of new material since Sept. 2009's God & Guns, which debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard album sales chart, their highest bow since 1977.

Led by core members, guitarist Gary Rossington, vocalist Johnny Van Zant and guitarist Rickey Medlock, Lynyrd Skynyrd's legacy began over 35 years ago in Jacksonville, FL.  After the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, it took more than a decade for the band to regroup. Joining Lynyrd Skynyrd for the new album is bass player Johnny Colt, an original member of The Black Crowes.  The rest of the group features guitarist Mark "Sparky" Matejka, drummer Michael Cartellone, keyboardist Peter Keys and the Honkettes, backing vocalists Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase.

With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" having over two million downloaded ringtones, Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations.

The band is currently touring North America and will be on the road throughout 2012 in support of Last Of A Dyin' Breed.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Last Of A Dying Breed To Be Released August 21, 2012; Lynyrd Skynyrd's First Studio Album Since God & Guns

BASSIST JOHNNY COLT, ORIGINAL MEMBER OF THE BLACK CROWES, JOINS LYNYRD SKYNYRD

NEW YORK, May 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records announced today the release of Last Of A Dying Breed from Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band's first studio album since the September 29, 2009 release of God & Guns which debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 20 and gave the band their highest debut since 1977.  Last Of A Dying Breed reunites the band with producer Bob Marlette who produced God & Guns
"It was great to get back in the studio with Bob for this new album," said Gary Rossington "we kind of went back old school this time.   All of us playing together in the studio as a band, tracking songs and creating licks.  We had a lot of fun and the music really flowed for us, so that's when you know you are on to something good.  We can't wait to let the fans hear these songs and play 'em live."
Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone , Lynyrd Skynyrd have recorded an album that continues the tremendous legacy that began over 35 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, a legacy that was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band tragically lost Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on.
Joining Lynyrd Skynyrd will be bass player Johnny Colt , an original member of the Black Crowes who has also played with Train and Rockstar Supernova.  When asked about receiving a phone call from Rickey Medlocke on behalf of Lynyrd Skynyrd to join the band, Johnny said, "What else do you say to Medlocke, Rossington and Van Zant? We're talking southern rock royalty.  We're talking Lynyrd Skynyrd. The only thing out of my mouth was when and where!"
With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations.
