ANNOUNCES THIRD YEAR OF PARTIES OF NOTE

First Opportunity to Purchase Reservations at Pick a Party! Party
Tuesday, June 28, 6-8pm
Interior Design Center of St. Louis

(St. Louis – May 24, 2011)- The St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association (SVA) launches its third season of Parties of Note. These imaginative themed events have grown to become the second largest fundraiser of the SVA and benefit the Symphony’s education and community programs. Several Symphony musicians are donating their time and talents for these events. The first opportunity to purchase reservations will be at the festive Pick a Party! Party, held at the Interior Design Center of St. Louis, 11660 Page Service Drive, St. Louis, MO, on June 28.

Hosted in various locations throughout the region, from spas to vineyards to luxurious private homes, these events include:

·         It’s in the Cards—a friendly poker game with Symphony musicians at the home of Carolyn and Kevin Fancell
·         It’s a String Thing—a lesson about string instruments followed by a performance by Wendy Plank Rosen, at the home of Eileen Edelman
·         Sound Bites—chamber music with Scott Andrews, Melissa Brooks and Nina Ferrigno, along with delicious desserts at a historic Compton Heights home
·         Chamber Music Potluck—bring your own instrument and jam with Symphony musicians Rebecca Boyer Hall, Asako Kuboki, Chris Woehr, and Alvin McCall

A portion of each party may be tax-deductible. Prices range from $20 to $300 per person. Many parties have limited availability. All parties are donated by the hosts, with proceeds benefiting the Symphony.

Tickets may be purchased and the Parties of Note Catalog may be viewed at stlsymphony.org/pon. Tickets may also be purchased through the St. Louis Symphony Box Office at 314-534-1700.

St. Louis Symphony
Founded in 1880, the St. Louis Symphony is the second-oldest orchestra in the country and is widely considered one of the world’s finest. In September 2005, internationally acclaimed conductor David Robertson became the 12th Music Director and second American-born conductor in the Orchestra’s history. In its 131st season, the STL Symphony continues to strive for artistic excellence, fiscal responsibility and community connection. In addition to its regular concert performances at Powell Hall, the STL Symphony is an integral part of the St. Louis community, presenting more than 250 free education and community partnership programs each year. In June 2008, the STL Symphony launched Building Our Business, which takes a proactive, two-pronged approach: build audiences and re-invigorate the STL Symphony brand making the STL Symphony and Powell Hall the place to be; and build the donor base for enhanced institutional commitment and donations. This is all part of a larger strategic plan adopted in May 2009 that includes new core ideology and a 10-year strategic vision focusing on artistic and institutional excellence, doubling the existing audience, and revenue growth across all key operating areas.
