The Oak Ridge Boys Receive Prestigious U.S. Military Award from Congressional Medal of Honor Society
Oak Ridge Boys

Medal of Honor Recipient and Congressional Medal of Honor Society President Harold A. Fritz (second from left) presents The Oak Ridge Boys with the society's Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After five GRAMMY Awards, nine GMA Dove Awards, an induction into The Grand Ole Opry and a forthcoming induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, The Oak Ridge Boys have been presented with yet another distinction -- the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society – recognizing their work with The American Legion. The group accepted the award on August 8 at the Nashville Salutes Gala surrounded by 25 Medal of Honor recipients.

In September 2014, The Oak Ridge Boys joined forces with The American Legion to help raise awareness and support for better detection and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder among U.S. military servicemen and women, and veterans. Through the partnership, The Oak Ridge Boys have also assisted with improving the VA benefits process, as well as the education and career opportunities that are available to veterans once they return to civilian life.

The Nashville Salutes Gala honored 25 living recipients of the Medal of Honor and served as a catalyst for the Middle Tennessee Character Development Program (CDP), whose goal is to develop the values required of every citizen among the youth of America. At the conclusion of the CDP presentation The Oak Ridge Boys took the stage and sang a heartfelt rendition of “Thank God for Kids.”

The award, named after famed entertainer Bob Hope and the work he performed to start the USO Tours, was conceived to honor entertainers who have demonstrated a commitment to the U.S. military through film, literature or music. Past recipients include Billy Ray Cyrus, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Selleck and Trace Adkins, among others.

ABOUT THE OAK RIDGE BOYS
The Oak Ridge Boys, who have sold over 41 million units worldwide, are synonymous with “America, apple pie, baseball and gospel and country music.” In addition to their awards and accolades in the country and pop music fields, they have garnered five GRAMMY® Awards and nine GMA DOVE Awards as well as the Mainstream Artist of the Year Award at the ICM Awards. Taylor Williamson
Comedian Taylor Williamson was the runner-up on the eighth season of “America’s Got Talent”. Taylor started his stand-up career at the age of 17, and has since gone to perform throughout the world, telling original jokes at shows and festivals including the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival (Montreal), with appearances on MTV’s “TRL” and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham.” Taylor was the youngest comedian to ever perform on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and was a semi-finalist on the seventh and final season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
Emily West
Emily West is a musical maverick in the masquerade of pin-up perfection.  Musically captivating and innovative, she knows she has been a hard case for the industry to define. “I'm a Jessica Rabbit/Tom Waits kinda-something. I love hearing beautiful melodies telling me horrible things. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Judy, Barbara, Patsy, Rufus Wainwright, Antony & the Johnson's. I love to interpret a song. I love to sing stories.” In 2014, she made the decision to try out for “America’s Got Talent”. “I thought maybe if I audition in front of the world, I could save time and see where it takes me. “ It was a wise decision. West excelled on the National stage and came in second in the renowned competition- a result she hopes will allow her to play to the breadth of audience she’s always wanted, and to take them with her on this exciting journey.  Emily’s debut album will be released on August 14.
The KriStef Brothers
The KriStef Brothers (Kristofer and Stefan) placed among the top 12 finalists on season 8 of “America’s Got Talent”. They have been performing acrobatics together since childhood, both coming from generations of circus families and performance talents.  Taught by various family members, they grew up learning Hand to Hand, acrobatic skills, ballet training, jazz training, and clowning skills, often in their own backyard. The KriStef Brothers began performing for audiences by the age of 10, and have continued to develop new talents and tricks, adding to their act over the years. The Brothers have performed worldwide, with major appearances including “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and “The Today Show”.
Recycled Percussion
Since Justin Spencer formed Recycled Percussion in 1995, the band has been unstoppable. Their junk rock music became a national phenomenon week after week during their smash hit performances on “America’s Got Talent” in 2009. Playing over 4,000 shows and over 400 corporate events in over 15 countries, the group has also done guest appearances on “Carson Daly”, “The Today Show”, “China’s Got Talent” and the Latin Grammy Awards. After being featured on the cover of “USA Today” and being voted National Act of the Year a record-breaking six times, the band gained world-wide recognition.
America’s Got Talent Live: The All-Stars Tour! is a Faculty production in association with FremantleMedia North America and Syco Entertainment.
“America’s Got Talent” is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Syco Entertainment. Simon Cowell, Sam Donnelly, Jason Raff, Trish Kinane and Richard Wallace are the executive producers.

Twiddle, a Vermont based quartet, spins tall tales over an intricate soundscape of hi-def shred. Their fresh multi-genre approach conjures up jazz, classical, and bluegrass, but above all, masterfully blends reggae and funk. Obliterating laws of improvisation, their complex arrangements never fail to leave crowds lusting for more. With sage songwriting and unmatched variety, Twiddle’s thrilling infancy will surely exceed all expectation.
The Werks have quickly emerged as a national powerhouse. As a result of their eclectic individual influences, The Werks produce a dance party that can be appreciated by a majority of musical tastes. Fusing the psychedelic shredding guitar and screaming organ of jam and classic rock with funk slap bass, synthesizers, and modern dance beats, The Werks create their own style of music entitled "Psychedelic Dance Rock". Their unique style of performing is affected and manipulated by the energy of the audience, guaranteeing that each show will be different and memorable.

Hollywood Vampires Announce Rare Live Performances

ROXY SHOWS AND ROCK IN RIO

DUFF MCKAGAN AND MATT SORUM WILL JOIN TOURING BAND

PARTNERSHIP WITH STARKEY HEARING FOUNDATION

In 1972, on the Sunset Strip at a club called the Rainbow Bar & Grill, the Hollywood Vampires were born in the upstairs bar.  It was a gathering place for rock stars living in or passing through L.A.  "To join the club, one simply had to out drink all of the members," says Alice Cooper, a founding member of the Vampires.  "I would walk in on a typical night," Alice says, "and John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon—who would usually be in a costume like a maid or a chauffeur—Bernie Taupin, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz would be there. The next week might be Bernie Taupin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz." Now, returning to where it once began, the Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry) have announced today two shows at the notorious Sunset Strip music venue, The Roxy.  This will mark the Hollywood Vampires' only U.S. appearances on September 16 and 17, and will surely be the most sought after ticket in town. Joining the Hollywood Vampires live will be Matt Sorum on drums, Duff McKagan on bass, Tommy Henriksen on guitar, and Bruce Witkin on piano and guitar. Tickets are on sale on August 14 for the September 16 show at http://ticketf.ly/1EdJvSI and September 17 show at http://ticketf.ly/1W5TvIT
Additionally on September 24, in what will be their only international appearance, the band will head to Brazil for "Rock in Rio." Before that show, the band will partner with Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization that has provided more than 1.8 million free hearing aids to people in need in more than 100 countries, to offer and fit hearing aids to more than 150 people in need.  After the hearing aid fittings, the Hollywood Vampires and Starkey Hearing Foundation will bring a number of individuals to the show so they can hear music for the first time in their lives.
"Hearing connects us to life, our families and to the world around us," said Bill Austin, founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation. "It's a precious gift, and we are excited to work with the Hollywood Vampires to introduce so many to the world of sound and help them hear music for the first time."
Three years ago, Alice and good friend Johnny Depp got together and decided the spirit of the Hollywood Vampires should live again (minus the drinking).  An environment for great artists to hang, laugh and play together. The Hollywood Vampires live again with the release of the Hollywood Vampires new album.  Alice and Johnny were joined by Joe Perry, who is an old friend of both of them, and with producer Bob Ezrin, the recording began: a tribute to the original Hollywood Vampires.  The new album is set to be released on September 11 and all artist proceeds will be donated to MusiCares.
About Starkey Hearing Foundation
Starkey Hearing Foundation uses hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world. Disabling hearing loss affects more than 360 million people, including 32 million children, worldwide, yet many do not have access to the hearing devices that can help them. As a member of Clinton Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to provide more than one million hearing aids to people in need this decade and currently gives more than 175,000 hearing aids annually. In addition to giving the gift of hearing through worldwide hearing missions, Starkey Hearing Foundation promotes hearing health awareness and education through the Listen Carefully campaign and provides hearing instruments to low-income Americans through the Hear Now program. Chris Cornell is a modern icon who transcends genre.  He was the chief architect of the 90s grunge movement and remains one of the most iconic rock voices of all time.   Achieving multi-platinum success with three legendary bands - selling over 30 million records worldwide - he has forged his own unique identity over three decades as a Grammy award-winning, Golden Globe nominated singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer and lyricist.  His career began with Seattle trailblazers Soundgarden, whose wild soundscapes combined visceral punk attitude with artistic depth. Powerfully original, they were the first of their generation of Seattle bands to sign to a major label in 1989 and their work continued to evolve over the course of seven groundbreaking albums. Soundgarden made a historic return to the live stage in 2010 and have since toured the world, releasing the all-new studio album, KING ANIMALto widespread acclaim.

Cornell has continually redefined his sound and vision.  In 1990, side project Temple of the Dog saw him experiment with a more soulful style alongside the future members of Pearl Jam. Later in the decade, his critically acclaimed solo album EUPHORIA MORNING combined lush melody and instrumentation with lyrics which spoke of alienation and despair. And as the millennium turned, he joined with three other musical pioneers from Rage Against the Machine to create supergroup Audioslave. The multi-platinum band released three albums and toured stadiums around the world, becoming the first American rock group to perform a massive free concert in Castro's Cuba.  Cornell has also collaborated with many different artists, most recently the Zac Brown Band on their single "Heavy Is The Head", which peaked at #1 on rock radio in the US.

His soundtrack work has spanned both big budget and independent cinema. He was the first male American artist to write and perform the theme song for a James Bond movie ("You Know My Name" for Casino Royale).  With Soundgarden, he wrote the end title song "Live To Rise" for The Avengers, the 3rd highest grossing film of all time.  He duetted with Joy Williams on his song "Misery Chain" which appeared on the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave and his song "The Keeper" from Marc Forster's Machine Gun Preacher was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2012.

Cornell's recent solo acoustic 'Songbook' tour attracted sellout crowds and critical acclaim worldwide.  Jim Farber of the New York Daily News observed, "sometimes you don't recognize the full power of a voice until you strip everything away from it."  The tour's reinterpretations of classic Cornell songs are featured on his 2011 live album of the same name.

Cornell will reissue his first solo album Euphoria Mourning (with original title) on August 14th. The album will be remastered and re-released for vinyl for the first time.

Cornell has also become involved in philanthropy, using music to support causes that help foster change.  The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation is currently raising funds and partnering with charitable organizations to mobilize support for children facing problems including homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect.
