The Oak Ridge Boys Announce New Down Home ChristmasAlbum and 2019 Down Home Christmas Tour

The Oak Ridge Boys: Down Home Christmas
Produced By Dave Cobb, 'Down Home Christmas' Will Be Available October 25th
2019 'Down Home Christmas Tour' Kicks Off In Branson, Missouri on November 13th With Over Twenty Five Dates Announced So Far
Including River City Casino Event Center
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – GRAMMY® Award-winning and Country Music Hall of Fame members, The Oak Ridge Boys, will once again celebrate the Christmas season with their timeless hits and holiday classics on their 2019 Down Home Christmas Tour. The Oak Ridge Boys will perform over thirty-one concerts and are set to kick-off on November 13th in Branson, Missouri, playing in 28 cities and 14 states across the U.S. In conjunction with the tour, the Oaks' latest Christmas album,Down Home Christmas, produced by Dave Cobb, will be released by Lightning Rod Records/Thirty Tigers on October 25, 2019.

Each year The Oak Ridge Boys travel all over the United States spreading Christmas cheer by performing Christmas classics, new favorites and many of the hits that shaped the career of this legendary group. The Oak Ridge Boys' set list will take audiences on a hit-filled musical journey of holiday cheer from the group's seven best-selling Christmas albums, along with songs from the new Down Home Christmas Album, which includes standards such as "Amazing Grace" and "Silent Night," but also new favorites such as "Don't Go Pullin' On Santa Claus Beard" written by Americana hit-maker Anderson East and "South Alabama Christmas," written by Jamey Johnson.

"Down Home Christmas began much like the other seven Christmas albums we have recorded. But things changed. Most of the songs I had collected were put on the shelf, and we started looking for songs that addressed specific subjects related to Christmas," says The Oaks' Duane Allen. "Dave Cobb was the producer/coach/motivator for this project. He encouraged us to dig a little deeper into our souls, to capture the magic of each song. With very simple instrumentation, the four Oak Ridge Boys' voices are out front, and in your face, with the awesome, huge sound of RCA Studio A wrapped around, but not over-powering it."

"Down Home Christmas is a project that we are happy to share with the world and, rest assured, you will hear these songs on our upcoming 30th annual Christmas tour," says Joe Bonsall. "The instrumentation is sparse, yet incredibly put together, and the vocals are rich and vibrant. Many of the songs were freshly written by a stable of Nashville’s top songwriters."

Down Home Christmas marks the Oaks' 30th annual Christmas tour, eighth Christmas album, and third album collaboration with producer Dave Cobb.

The Legends of Country
w/The Oak Ridge Boys, Tanya Tucker,
Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Bothers!

WHAT:         It’s a night of classics as The Family Arena presents The Legends of Country. Don’t miss an unforgettable experience as The Oak Ridge Boys, Tanya Tucker, and Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers take the stage to perform their iconic hits.

Theirs is one of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of Country hits and a Number One Pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. Every time they step before an audience, the Oaks bring four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere. And each remains as enthusiastic about the process as they have ever been. Their string of hits includes the Country-Pop chart-topper Elvira, as well as Bobbie Sue, Dream On, Thank God For Kids, American Made, I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes, Fancy Free, Gonna Take A Lot Of River and many others. The group has scored 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album—plus one double platinum single—and had more than a dozen national Number One singles and over 30 Top Ten hits.

In 1974, Rolling Stone ran a cover story on Tanya Tucker with the headline that said “You’re Gonna Hear From Me.” Truer words have never been spoken. For four decades, her sultry voice and vivacious stage presence has helped to make her one of the most admired and respected female vocalists in the Country Music genre. Tanya’s reign includes 23 Top 40 albums and a string of 56 Top 40 singles, 10 of which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. Along the way, she has provided some of the biggest country music hits of each decade, including, Delta Dawn, Blood Red and Goin’ Down, Would you Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone), and Texas (When I Die” just to name a few. Tucker is also the recipient of numerous awards, including two CMAs, two ACMs, and three CMT awards.

Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers have been dazzling audiences for more than 60 years. By 1976, the Gatlin Brothers were in the fast lane, thanks to the chart-topping success of the Grammy Award-winning “Broken Lady.”  The hits continued throughout the rest of the decade, including their signature song, All the Gold in California, soon to be followed by Houston (Means I’m One Day Closer to You).   The number one hits continued throughout the next decade with I Don’t Wanna CryI Just Wish You Were Someone I Love, Statues Without Hearts, Love is Just a Game, and Night Time Magic.  In addition to being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1976, the trio was nominated for awards by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Music City News Awards, among others.  “We won some of ‘em too,” says Larry.

--
"There's a common thread linking the tracks, and gospel music in general: Humans locating the hope to be transported somewhere better.”
- Jon Freeman, Rolling Stone Country

"The Oak Ridge Boys have a deep history of gospel singing, and they have no trouble picking up the habit here."
- Jeff Gage, Rolling Stone

"The set is in fact an “organic” move for the Oaks, whose deep southern gospel music roots--along with early rock ‘n’ roll/R&B energy--have always been the bedrock of their unique country sound."
– Jim Bessman, Centerline

"An album that shows that, well in their fifth decade of recording and touring together, the ‘Mighty Oaks’ still have plenty of fuel in the creative ignition."
– Chuck Dauphin, Sounds Like Nashville

"You now have the perfect reason to put down that god-forsaken phone, buy the album..."
– Clay Stevens, American Songwriter
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the release of their highly anticipated new album 17th Avenue Revival (March 16, Lightning Rod Records), The Oak Ridge Boys are hitting the Big Apple this week where the quartet will make appearances on Good Day NY, Varney & Company, Access Hollywood, PBS's METRO FOCUS, Fox & Friends, IMUS in the Morning, SiriusXM, and much more! In addition, Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban will also make appearances on The 700 Club, DoYouRemember?, Paste, Nashville Insider, RFD-TV, The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Cheddar, LifeMinute, Heartland, Jesus Calling, Southern Living, Fox News Radio, Celeb Secrets, Country Rebel, and Larry’s Country Diner with hit times coming soon!!!

17th Avenue Revival brings The Oak Ridge Boys back to their gospel roots, but with an edge. Under the direction of famed-producer Dave Cobb, the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame members touched on uncharted territory—and for a long-tenured act like The Oak Ridge Boys, that’s saying something. Somewhat retro, yet new and fresh at the same time, there was no vocal stacking and very few overdubs. For two of the songs, the Boys gathered around one microphone and let the harmonies shine, just as Dave Cobb had planned initially.

Since the start of their highly decorated career, the Oaks have achieved five GRAMMY® Awards, and multiple CMA, ACM and Dove Awards for their crossover brand of pop, country and gospel music that spans multiple generations.

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS TO PERFORM ON ‘HUCKABEE’ THIS WEEKEND ON TBN IN ADVANCE OF THE RELEASE OF THEIR NEW ALBUM, 17th AVENUE REVIVAL

Left to right: William Lee Golden, Duane Allen, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban
"Before Russia was a topic in our daily news, The Oak Ridge Boys performed as one of the first country acts in Russia on a three-week tour.  You could say 'they were in Russia before Russia was cool!'" – Chuck Dauphin

Appearances set for The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Grand Ole Opry, Larry’s Country Diner, RFD, SiriusXM, and so much more!
NASHVILLE, Tenn.Made up of members Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban, The Oak Ridge Boys are members of the Grand Ole Opry and achieved, arguably, country music’s highest honor when they were inducted into The Country Music Hall Of Fame in October 2015.

The group has given many command performances throughout their legendary career, from performing for King Gustaf of Sweden, to Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Monaco, to Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of Great Britain and five U.S. presidents: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. In 1976, they performed in Russia during the “Iron Curtain” days on a three week tour with Roy Clark – a first for ANY country music artist.

Since the start of their highly decorated career, the Oaks have achieved five GRAMMY® Awards, and multiple CMA, ACM and Dove Awards for their crossover brand of pop, country and gospel music that spans multiple generations.

In preparation for the release of their highly anticipated new album 17th Avenue Revival (March 16, Lightning Rod Records), The Oak Ridge Boys are gearing up for media rounds in Nashville and New York City where the quartet will make appearances on The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Larry’s Country Diner, The Grand Ole Opry, a sit-down one hour special on RFD, The 700 Club, SiriusXM, Jesus Calling, Southern Living, Fox News Radio, METRO Focus, Westwood One, Celeb Secrets, Heartland, Nashville Insider, Country Rebel and more.

In front of an at-capacity, standing-room-only crowd at the Country Music Hall of Fame™ and Museum CMA Theater on Monday (3/5) night, The Oak Ridge Boys electrified with hit after hit, and then introduced their the new album. In addition, and in typical Oak Ridge Boys fashion, the group set a unique precedent by presenting the Country Music Hall of Fame with a special Edison cylinder recording of "Brand New Star," the first track from their new album.

“It’s exciting to me that our manager, Jim Halsey, and Logan Rogers, President of Lightning Rod Records, were able to envision the idea of releasing the new album, all or in part, on virtually every format of commercial recording technology since the Edison cylinder — and to find people to record ‘Brand New Star’ on cylinder,” said Duane Allen.

“We thought it was a fantastic idea to include vinyl, cassette, CD and cylinder — the only format we left out was eight-track and, who knows, that might be next.” Allen said. “It’s proof that our team can cover all the bases, while coming up with a fun and provocative promotion for the new product.”

Grammy Award-winning Country Music Hall of Famers celebrate Christmas with timeless hits and holiday favorites

Oaks’ lead singer, Duane Allen, says, “Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the positive things about the season.... the joy, happiness, giving, sharing, time with family, and gifts. The beautiful lights and decorations. Christmas music. Special food. And most of all the true meaning, which, of course, is celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Oak Ridge Boys Receive Prestigious U.S. Military Award from Congressional Medal of Honor Society
Oak Ridge Boys

Medal of Honor Recipient and Congressional Medal of Honor Society President Harold A. Fritz (second from left) presents The Oak Ridge Boys with the society's Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After five GRAMMY Awards, nine GMA Dove Awards, an induction into The Grand Ole Opry and a forthcoming induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, The Oak Ridge Boys have been presented with yet another distinction -- the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society – recognizing their work with The American Legion. The group accepted the award on August 8 at the Nashville Salutes Gala surrounded by 25 Medal of Honor recipients.

In September 2014, The Oak Ridge Boys joined forces with The American Legion to help raise awareness and support for better detection and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder among U.S. military servicemen and women, and veterans. Through the partnership, The Oak Ridge Boys have also assisted with improving the VA benefits process, as well as the education and career opportunities that are available to veterans once they return to civilian life.

The Nashville Salutes Gala honored 25 living recipients of the Medal of Honor and served as a catalyst for the Middle Tennessee Character Development Program (CDP), whose goal is to develop the values required of every citizen among the youth of America. At the conclusion of the CDP presentation The Oak Ridge Boys took the stage and sang a heartfelt rendition of “Thank God for Kids.”

The award, named after famed entertainer Bob Hope and the work he performed to start the USO Tours, was conceived to honor entertainers who have demonstrated a commitment to the U.S. military through film, literature or music. “Like everyone else in the group,” adds bass singer extraordinaire, Richard Sterban, “I was a fan of the Oaks before I became a member. I’m still a fan of the group today. Being in The Oak Ridge Boys is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.”

The two, along with tenor Joe Bonsall and baritone William Lee Golden, comprise one of Country's truly legendary acts. Their string of hits includes the Country-Pop chart-topper "Elvira", as well as "Bobbie Sue," "Y'All Come Back Saloon," "Thank God For Kids," "American Made," "You're The One," "Fancy Free," "Love Song" and many others.

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS TEAM WITH COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL
FOR 2013 CHRISTMAS TIME'S A COMIN' TOUR

Legendary award-winning, hit-making group
celebrate 24th Anniversary of Christmas Tour

NASHVILLE,  – Grammy Award-winning music legends The Oak Ridge Boys are set to celebrate the 24th Anniversary of their annual Christmas Tour in 2013 with a festive show featuring live performances of holiday classics and their biggest hits.  Additionally, while Richard Sterban, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Joe Bonsall are celebrating their 40th Anniversary of The Oak Ridge Boys, they have teamed with Compassion International as the official sponsor of the “Christmas Time’s a Comin’” Tour.

“Over the course of our career we have worked with many children's relief organizations, but never have we seen a more positive response from our fans than we are seeing with Compassion International,” says Oak Ridge Boy Joe Bonsall.  “I believe that folks are moved by Compassion International’s Christ-centered approach to feeding and educating needy kids around the world—and their amazing success rate, which is impressive! When folks sign up to help a hungry child there is a huge chance that THAT child will rise out of poverty and make a difference in the world. This is why we are excited and blessed to be working with this stellar organization.”

The Oak Ridge Boys came together in 1973, beginning as gospel singers, became a top act in country music and then crossed over to pop with the monster hit “Elvira” in 1981.  The song became their fourth No. 1 country hit, reached No. 5 on the pop charts, won the group a Grammy® award and went on to become one of only a handful of singles released out of Nashville ever to go double platinum.  The Oak Ridge Boys recently became members of the Grand Ole Opry®.

“Compassion International will be traveling with us on our Christmas Time’s a Comin’ Tour so folks can meet them first hand and join with us as we try to do some positive things for children. The song “Thank God For Kids” has inspired us for decades to give back and to be a special blessing to needy children. Our partnership with Compassion International enables us to fulfill those visions, and together we can make a huge difference through Christmas and beyond!” adds Bonsall.

The Oak Ridge Boys are known for creating a show atmosphere of holiday cheer with their Christmas tour, which consistently receives rave reviews and has become a holiday tradition in its own right since its start 24 years ago.  The masterful blends of new and traditional yuletide tunes are enhanced by the powerhouse group’s renowned four-part harmonies.

The Oak Ridge Boys will be filling the holiday season with the celebrated sounds of their Christmas Time’s A Coming CD (Gaither Gospel Series). The album was released to retail outlets in 2012, with an exclusive version of the CD available at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®, featuring two heartwarming bonus tracks that capture the meaning of the season.
