FLEA TO RELEASES SOLO EP, HELEN BURNS,  TO BENEFIT SILVERLAKE CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

EP AVAILABLE AT "A NAME YOUR OWN PRICE"
LOS ANGELES, CA -  - Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea announced  he is releasing a solo EP today entitled Helen Burns to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the non-profit organization he created with friends in 2001.

"Hi people who like The Red Hot Chili Peppers! I love you a lot! Mucho!  Just wanted to give you a heads up about this little record 'Helen Burns' I am putting out on the Silverlake Conservatory website," said Flea.  "Warning! It is not a Chili Pepper record. It does not have songs that are like the Chili Peppers at all. It is a mostly instrumental, weird and arty record, the music is mostly just me creating soundscapes that are very emotional for me, but certainly not for everyone!  Just me tripping out at home. I am putting it out to raise money for The Silverlake Conservatory of Music a community based non profit music school that I am an integral part of. There you have it. See you all soon I hope!"

Downloads of the EP are available at "a name your own price" HERE until August 9th when it becomes available be at all digital retailers.   Additionally, there will also be a limited edition 180-gram vinyl that Flea will personally sign andinclude a piece of one of the bass strings he used while touring.  The vinyl can also be ordered HERE.

RECORDS NEW ALBUM, ‘15TH & HOPE,’
WITH LEGENDARY PRODUCER PHIL RAMONE;

SET FOR RELEASE SEPTEMBER 25 ON ELM CITY MUSIC;

TOUR WITH STEPHEN KELLOGG AND THE SIXERS
STARTS OCTOBER 17

July 19, 2012 -- Tampa, FL band miggs will be release their fifth album, 15TH & HOPE, on September 25 via the Elm City Music label (EMI distribution).  The album’s first single, “Stars,” will be released to AAA radio stations nationwide later this month and a video for the song will be released soon.  In the meantime, a lyric video has been created for the album’s lead track, “Pretty,” which can be seen here:  http://bit.ly/MRK7p5.  A three-week tour, along with Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, will commence on October 17 in Seattle at Tractor Tavern.

When it came time to record their new album, miggs--Don Miggs (lead vocals/lead guitar), Michael Lombardo (bass), Walker Adams (drums), John Luzzi (guitar)--turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra).

As singer/guitarist Don Miggs commented, “It’s hard to speak about Phil Ramone without first reminding people what the name means:  Phil Ramone has 15 Grammy® Awards and about three dozen nominations.  He has a Lifetime Grammy award.  He is a last remaining icon in an industry quick to announce and quicker to denounce ‘genius,’ and we are the closest thing he’s done to a ‘Rock’ band since Billy Joel.  Our experience with Phil was better than I imagined it could be.  15TH & HOPE doesn’t sound anything like a ‘Phil Ramone’ record.  It sounds like a better miggs record and that’s the secret to being Phil.  He inspired me throughout the whole recording process by sharing his amazing behind-the-scenes stories about experiences with many influential artists across the span of his career.  With no pressure felt at all, he very easily managed to extract the best out of each of us.  I did things I didn't think I was capable of.  The overall feeling in the studio felt like family.  I looked forward to every session.  It all went by so quickly.  I am so honored to have worked with him.”

It was an equally memorable and cherished experience for Phil Ramone himself.  “When I stepped into the studio I was rewarded with a great musical experience,” he says.  “Don Miggs, the player, the vocalist and writer brings a lot of heart to the table.  The band matches that with energy and great attitude.  I am excited for people to experience this collection of miggs songs with thought-provoking lyrics and his subtle guitar brilliance.”

A label executive had once described miggs as “Heartland American Rock ‘n Roll in the tradition of Tom Petty, Matchbox Twenty, Greg Kihn, et al.”  So what does that mean?  As Don Miggs will tell you:

“East coast, life, Rolling Stones, guitars, girls, local shows, euphoria, four-man band, death, heartbreak, no money, school, marriage, record deal, tour, tour, tour, ten minutes of fame, no more record deal, four band members down to one, U2, West coast, car and a trunk, three band members, tour, tour, tour, record deal offers, add a guitarist, lose a drummer, divorce, no money, school, lose a drummer, work, girlfriends, tour, little bit of money, van and trailer, national tours, record deal, marriage, become a three piece, have kids, lose a drummer, bus and no trailer, national tours, play in front of 10,000 people, play in front of 10 people, find the perfect drummer, add the right guitarist, same bass player, same singer, more drive, more ambition, better at the craft, ready for our close-up, hungrier for your attention --- the list can go on and on and it does – end result – we are HERE.   Our collective experiences all led to writing and recording the best work miggs has ever produced, thanks in part to Phil F-ING Ramone and Jim Scott – we can’t get to here without where we’ve come from.  We embrace it.  We are a band on the corner of a new crossroads, 15TH AND HOPE.”

miggs’ previous album, WIDE AWAKE, spawned the Hot AC hit “Girls & Boys,” which lead to tours with Maroon 5, Ed Kowalczyk from LIVE, Plain White T’s, Thriving Ivory, Green River Ordinance and Parachute.  miggs’ music has been heard in movies, TV shows and video games such as “The O.C.,” A&E’s documentary “Kurt Cobain” and the series “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” MTV’s “Five Questions: Nick Jonas” and “Bromance with Brody Jenner,” Disney’s “Fallen,” and the Buena Vista video game “Spectrobes.”  Don even wrote the song for the Florida tourism campaign, “Share A Little Sunshine.”

Anders Osborne

Between the sheer force and potent lyricism of his guitar playing, the riveting depth of his songwriting and the straight-from-the-soul conviction of his vocals, New Orleans’ Anders Osborne is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Relix says Osborne plays “hard-hitting songs” featuring his “raging, expressive guitar and soulful singing…from scorched-earth rock to sweet, tender ballads.” OFFBEAT magazine recently named Osborne the Crescent City’s Best Guitarist for the second straight year, and also awarded him with the Best Roots Rock Artist title.

Pentatonix
Sunday, November 11
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$20 Advance $23 Day of Show
All Ages

Pentatonix has that special a cappella swag, something that most singing groups tend to lack. They can sing, dance, harmonize and put together a respectable arrangement in just minutes. Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, and Kirstie Maldonado formed a trio that during high school together in Arlington, Texas. They added the final two members, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola, the day before their audition on Season 3 of NBC's "The Sing-Off", and PTX was born. They ended up winning "The Sing-Off", and since then have been making strides in the music industry with their modern style and electronic sounds.

Thomas Wynn & The Believers
Tuesday, August 21
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$7 Cover   All Ages

Thomas Wynn & The Believers personify rugged, yet uplifting spirited rock, sprinkled with southern soul R&B. Tunes brutally honest & heartfelt, the themes go beyond years of drugs, heartbreaks & hypocrisy to deliver a message of hope. “Soulful, gritty tunes, some as sweet as honeysuckle and others ferociously jagged ...reminiscent of Levon Helm, Neil Young and the Allman Brothers, but they still boldly radiate a sound and southern charm all their own.”

ORH Concerts Presents:

THE GRANT FARM is a refreshing harvest of a band from the fertile Front Range of Colorado. This much-anticipated four-piece represents the fruition of the efforts of National Flatpicking Champion Tyler Grant, one of the hottest and best-known guitar players on the scene today. Tyler was a member of The Drew Emmitt Band and The Emmitt-Nershi Band from 2005 until 2010 when he went on his own to pursue his calling as a bandleader. In Grant Farm he is partnered with dynamic drummer Chris Misner, also of the Drew Emmitt Band and Bill Nershi’s Blue Planet. The quartet is completed by funky phenom Adrian “Ace” Engfer on bass and the prodigious Sean Foley on keyboards.

SafetySuit
w/ Taylor Berrett
Thursday, September 20
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$15 Flat  All Ages

When we last saw SafetySuit, the Nashville-based band was supporting 2008’s Life Left To Go and hit single “Stay,” which shot to No. 1 on the voter-generated VH1 Top 20 Countdown. Spotlighted by VH1 as a band “You Oughta Know,” the group toured endlessly, playing over 200 shows and selling more than 500,000 singles along the way. They’re raising the stakes with THESE TIMES (Universal Republic), a scintillating hookfest of arena-ready rock anthems, offering unequivocal proof that the group has the goods to break wide open. This hard-hitting yet life-embracing album strikingly displays SafetySuit’s singular sound and style as well as the clarity of the band’s vision. That vision was sufficiently present on the first album and the hundreds of performances that followed it to bring them a loyal, enthusiastic fanbase—one that is about to undergo exponential growth. SafetySuit is an extremely confident, distinctly American unit right on the brink of establishing itself as a band that matters.

The Fixx
Wednesday, August 22
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$30 General Admission
$50 VIP (includes Meet & Greet)
All Ages

Not sixty seconds into Beautiful Friction and it is clear; the haunting guitar of Jamie West-Oram, expressive synth of Rupert Greenall, pounding bass of Dan K. Brown, steady beat of Adam Woods and unforgettable vocals of Cy Curnin add up to the undeniable sound that could only be The Fixx. Apart, you couldn’t refute their talent, yet it’s together that they shine. Together, The Fixx has an incredibly strong voice, strong legacy and strong future. The early to mid 80’s was marked by several Top Ten Billboard hits, such as “One Things Leads to Another,” “Red Skies,” “Saved By Zero” and “Stand or Fall”. Beautiful Friction, the band’s tenth album studio album, finds The Fixx sharper than ever. Never at a loss for what to say, Cy Curnin and company have the same thought-provoking intensity fueling their lyrics and performances as they ever have. Fired up and as hopeful as ever, the band continues to take us on a journey which started in 1982 with the release of Shuttered Room.

Pearl & The Beard

Pearl and The Beard is three voices, one cello, one guitar, one glockenspiel, one melodica, several drums, ninety-six teeth, and one soul. Former strangers Jocelyn Mackenzie, Emily Hope Price and Jeremy Styles were united in the great city of New York. Each had migrated there from a far corner of the nation with naught but food in their pockets and money in their bellies. Each had the same true love. Since then, the three have nested, and their unique brand of brightly melodic song craft continues to blossom of its own accord.

These both go on-sale Fri. 7/27 @ 5pm. Hope you have a great Tuesday!

DEBUTS ON CENTRIC JULY 24th
SINGLE IS #16 ON URBAN AC CHART AND CLIMBING
New Album, Rich Girl, Due September 25th
Fairfax, VA --- Angie Stone’s new video for her hit single, “Do What U Gotta Do,” made its debut on Centric on July 24th.  It is the first single from her upcoming album, Rich Girl, due out September 25th on SRR Records.  “Do What U Gotta Do” was the #1 most-added new song in the Urban AC radio format when it was released earlier this summer and in a rare feat was most-added again this week. It is currently at #16 on the Urban AC chart and still climbing.
Filmed in Atlanta last month, the video features a clever twist with Angie performing in front of her band and – through the magic of film editing - as her own trio of backup singers, sometimes even upstaging herself.
Angie Stone has been nominated for three Grammy Award nominations, two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, and four Top 10 R&B albums (with her The Art of Love & War going all the way to number one).  Her newest album, Rich Girl, will be released on September 25th on SRR Records.

NATIONAL MUSIC COUNCIL APPOINTS THE OAK RIDGE BOYS
AS OFFICIAL NATIONAL ANTHEM SINGERS

PROCLAMATION ANNOUNCED DURING GRAND OLE OPRY
BY WSM’S EDDIE STUBBS

Nashville, Tenn. (July 18, 2012) The prestigious National Music Council has appointed The Oak Ridge Boys as the official leading singers of America’s National Anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.” The proclamation recognizes the iconic group’s contribution to the preservation of patriotic American music, their longstanding advancement of musical culture and their commitment to celebrating the global diversity of music traditions. It’s also in celebration of the Oaks’ continued service as ambassadors of American culture. Last night, WSM’s Eddie Stubbs made the announcement while introducing the group at the world renowned Grand Ole Opry.

“The Oak Ridge Boys have been global ambassadors of American music and culture for decades,” states NMC Director Dr. David Sanders. “Cultural diplomacy is more important now than ever before, and this designation is a way for us to highlight the role that musicians, creators, and artists play in bettering our nation’s relationship with the world. The singing of the Star Spangled Banner is emblematic not only of the pride we all take in our own country, but also of the appreciation and respect we have for other cultures and musical genres that have played such an important role in shaping America's own, distinctive musical voice."

Oak Ridge Boys member Duane Allen describes the appointment as a reflection of the group’s patriotic pride. “Just reading the proclamation gives me chills.  The National Music Council represents all of the major music organizations in America. The Oak Ridge Boys enjoy the privilege of leading in the singing of our National Anthem. We love to hear an entire football stadium singing it with gusto with us. Being designated is a huge honor, and we are humbled to be selected by the NMC.”

REUNITED BEN FOLDS FIVE DELIVERING The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind, FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 13 YEARS

Grassroots Direct-To-Fans Initiative Kicks Off Worldwide Release on ImaVeePee Records / Sony Music Entertainment September 18

NEW YORK -- Ben Folds Five, the groundbreaking pop trio who changed the course of indie rock in the mid-1990s, is releasing The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind, the group's first album of new music in 13 years.  The music's genesis took place via a successful grassroots direct-to-fans campaign on PledgeMusic, where artists and fans work together with charities to create albums and other projects.
The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind will be released worldwide on ImaVeePee Records/Sony Music Entertainment on September 18.  Fans who've participated in the PledgeMusic campaign will receive an exclusive early delivery of the album.
The new Ben Folds Five tracks premiering on The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind include: "Erase Me"; "Michael Praytor, Five Years Later"; "Sky High"; "The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind"; "On Being Frank"; "Draw A Crowd"; "Do It Anyway"; "Hold That Thought"; "Away When You Were Here"; and "Thank You For Breaking My Heart".
A portion of the funds generated by album sales, and other BFF items ordered by fans through PledgeMusic, will be used to support Music Education and Music Therapy, a charity personally chosen by Ben Folds Five.  PledgeMusic builds a charitable component into each of the campaigns running under its auspices.
Ben Folds Five--Ben Folds (piano), Robert Sledge (bass) and Darren Jessee (drums)--launched in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1994.  The trio's high energy gigs garnering an intensely loyal fanbase, BFF signed first with an indie before a move to the majors wrought 1997's watershed Whatever And Ever Amen.  A slice of pure pop perfection, the album introduced the ballad "Brick," broke the band commercially and sold more than two million copies worldwide.  BFF recorded its last album, 1999's The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, which included the single "Army," before disbanding in 2000.  (The trio reunited for a one-off live performance of The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner on MySpace in 2008).
In 2011, the original three members of Ben Folds Five came together to record three new studio tracks for The Best Imitation Of Myself: A Retrospective, a career-spanning Ben Folds anthology. The band's magic rekindled in the new tracks, BFF gave its first concert in more than a decade to a spellbound audience at New York's Mountain Jam Festival on June 2, 2012. In the wake of the group's triumphal return at Mountain Jam, the group performed a short run of key US summer festival dates including Bonnaroo, Milwaukee Summerfest, and Old St. Patrick's Church Block Party in Chicago.
BFF will return to the road this fall with a major North American tour, including a gig at New York's Central Park on September 14, with dates in the UK, Ireland and Australia to follow.  More dates in the Ben Folds Five 2012-2013 tour itinerary TBA.

(NEW YORK, NY) - SAVING ABEL is streaming their entire record via AOL MUSIC today in anticipation of their new record, "Bringing Down The Giant" which comes out tomorrow. Click the cover above or HERE to listen!

The band recently shot a music video for the title track in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. In this unique example of total community participation, both the town and band came together to make this video.
They stood together to make a statement against the bullying epidemic in America and hope the video serves as a call for others to do the same. Still shots from the shoot can be seen above. Click HERE to watch the video for "Bringing Down The Giant"!
The band will release its brand new record "Bringing Down The Giant" tomorrow, July 17th, 2012.
"I'm so excited and proud to announce that we have signed to eOne. Thanks to them the world will get a chance to hear this amazing collection of songs," says frontman Jared Weeks. "Bringing Down The Giant" is the bands follow up release to "Miss America," released in 2010. The band has been hard at work since then and want fans to know they are back. Weeks continues, "We have taken the last year to write and record the best songs of our career."
Saving Abel combined meat and potatoes rock with their eponymous Gold-selling 2008 debut, which topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The record spawned the platinum single "Addicted" and the followup barn-burners, "Drowning (Face Down)" and the emotional "18 Days." Their second album, "Miss America," topped the Hard Rock chart and imprinted the hearts and minds of radio listeners with the title cut, "Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood)" and another Top 10 single, "The Sex is Good."
After blazing their own path with two full lengths, six top ten singles with two of them reaching number one, SAVING ABEL is ready to break new ground with "Bringing Down The Giant."
