LAUNCHING TONIGHT

HILL, WHO WAS FEATURED IN 20 FEET FROM STARDOM,
SIGNS WITH SONY MUSIC

Judith Hill has been tapped by multi-platinum-selling singer, songwriter and actor Josh Groban as support for his fall "In The Round" tour, which kicks off tonight at Taco Bell Arena in Boise, ID. In addition to opening the show, Hill will join Groban during his set for two songs: "The Prayer" and "Remember When It Rains." Judith, who contributed backing vocals to three tracks on Groban's latest album, All That Echoes, will also be playing a series of headline dates this fall. See below for itinerary.

Praised by Rolling Stone for her "stellar powerhouse vocals," Hill has signed with Sony Music. In addition to penning and performing her own material, Judith - who wrote her first song at the age of four - has backed such artists as the late Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. Hers is one of the stories told in director Morgan Neville's acclaimed 20 Feet From Stardom, a film that shines the spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. Hill, who was also featured on the film's soundtrack, was a contestant on season four of "The Voice."

Hill is also finishing up her debut record, which will be released in early 2014.

HANK3 Releases New Country DOUBLE ALBUM, “Brothers Of The 4x4” & New Punk Album, 3’s “A Fiendish Threat” TODAY – Streaming Now via CraveOnline.com

On Tour NOW in the United States

Hank3albums

HANK3, the most famous hellbilly rock n’ roll outlaw of all time, is dropping his two new albums, double country disc Brothers of the 4x4 and single punk disc A Fiendish Threat (by his new project “3”) today via HANK3 Records.

Besides living the songs’ subject matter first, HANK3 sang and played both guitar and drums on both. As if pulling triple duty wasn't enough, he engineered, produced, mixed and mastered all the tunes as well. Recording in his own home and releasing music on his own label, the Megaforce distributed HANK3 Records, allowed Williams complete creative control during the four month period it took to make both records.

A Fiendish Threat is a rippingly fast blast of sounds reminiscent of The Misfits, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, The Ramones and other punk rock greats that are as much a part of HANK3's musical identity as his country roots. Brothers of the 4x4 is straight country, and the realness of it shines throughout the record like moonlight hitting a mason jar of corn liquor- it ain't always the smoothest, and it doesn't come wrapped in a fancy package, but it's 100% pure whoop-ass in a bottle that gets the job done quicker and better and reminds you of where you originally came from once you figure out what just hit you.

HANK3 recently announced the second leg of this tour, hitting major south western cities this month. When HANK3 hits the road, he hits it much harder than most. HANK3 shows are legendary for their length and intensity, averaging three hours a night, starting with a country set and ending with whatever his latest musical experiment happens to be. The man goes full throttle all the time, every time, as anyone who has ever been to one of his innumerable shows will attest.

See below for all currently confirmed tour dates.

Sheryl Crow Crosses the Country Divide

By Bob Doerschuk
© 2013 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
Sheryl Crow didn’t get off the Greyhound in Nashville, with guitar case in hand and a heartful of dreams.
Actually, though, in a way, she did. She didn’t arrive by bus, but otherwise she could relate to the excitement and apprehensions that many new arrivals feel as they first set foot in Music City.
Of course, Crow had certain advantages, having already achieved worldwide superstardom and earned nine Grammy Awards and six Platinum albums, including two that have reached triple and one, Tuesday Night Music Club, that’s seven-times Platinum.
Still, when she bought a place outside of Nashville about five years ago, she felt like an outsider, albeit a well-connected one. Drawn to Middle Tennessee by the lifestyle as much as its musical opportunities, Crow began reaching out to some of the folks she knew in town.
“I got to know several people through Kimberly Paisley,” she said. “She had a girls’ dinner and introduced me around. I started to make friends. Nashville is much like a small town. People don’t show up with casseroles, but they make sure that you’re finding your way.”
Kimberly’s husband, Brad, invited her to a writing session with Chris DuBois. “Talk about a crash course in songwriting!” Crow remembered. “Brad and Chris work over a long period of time to make sure their songs are right. And you can tell. Some of Brad’s songs are so beautifully crafted that it’s intimidating.”
Amusingly, DuBois has a mirror image of that first session. “It was very intimidating to write with someone like her,” he admitted. “Brad and I have always been big fans of hers, so just the thought of sitting down in a room with her was nerve-wracking.”
Everyone soon calmed down enough to write a haunting tune, “Waterproof Mascara,” about a mother’s sadness at not being all she should be for her young daughter. That was the start of a series of songs written by Crow with DuBois and other Nashville stalwarts, 12 of which wound up on Feels Like Home, her newest release on Warner Bros. and, by her own description, her first true Country album.
“There are songs from my old catalog that are ‘too Country for Country,’” she said. “‘All I Wanna Do’ has that feel from the intro to the outro. It’s the same with ‘If It Makes You Happy,’ ‘Strong Enough to Be My Man’ and ‘Can’t Cry Anymore.’ But there’s also a lot of stuff on the new record that doesn’t sound like Country. One of them is ‘Waterproof Mascara’; another is ‘Crazy Ain’t Original These Days’ (written by Crow, Al Anderson and Leslie Satcher). And that’s OK too, because the Country format now encompasses a lot of things.
“When I first started, every label in L.A. said, ‘We don’t know what to do with you. You’re too Country. You’re too blue-eyed soul,’” she recalled. “I feel like I’ve always been like a suburb of Country Music — and now Country Music has grown and engulfed my suburb.”
Crow revels in the freedom she now feels. “A lot of the songs I had written in the name of rock ‘n’ roll were devoid of range,” she observed. “I can sing range; I just haven’t had the opportunity, because I haven’t been able to write those songs. People ask me, ‘Who are your favorite Country singers?’ Well, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly (Parton) and Emmy (Emmylou Harris), who are all big-range singers. Tammy (Wynette) was a big-range singer. So is Connie Smith. So it’s such a treat to go out and play ‘Give It To Me’ (Crow and Jeff Trott) and ‘Waterproof Mascara,’ songs that have a big range, and pull an audience into a song they’d never heard before.”
No stranger to writing with others, Crow had to adjust to methods that are unique to Nashville. “People here write in threes,” she said. “I’d never experienced that before. I think it’s probably because the objective is to get the song finished in order to up the percentage of getting cuts — not in a bad way, but obviously you’re going to get a better chance to get it recorded if it’s finished.”
Crow insists that Country has allowed her to put more of her true self into her music. Some of that has to do with how the format mixes the lead vocal. Crow’s co-producer, Justin Niebank, realized the best thing he could do for her on Feels Like Home is let her hear herself as clearly as possible.
“I’d gotten so used to producing myself that the last thing I would concentrate on was being a vocalist,” Crow said. “But Justin gave me the freedom to just walk up to the mic and sing. I never actually heard myself sound so good in my headphones. Who could expect that I’d feel so inspired at a job I’ve been doing for 20 years?”
“As simple as it is, the headphone mix is one of the great missing links in making records,” Niebank said. “When people put on headphones, it should sound like a record. Putting up microphones and running them through mic pres ain’t the gig; it’s getting the headphones so when people put them on, they’re blown away.”
Crow’s embrace of the Country lyric tradition makes Feels Like Home a career milestone. “In my early days, I masked almost any true emotions in a narrative,” she said. “I would create a character and hide behind her. Now I’m older and I love writing from the first person. It doesn’t put me in fear. I feel differently about my art. My life informs my art in different ways than it ever has before. So now, I like making people feel prickly with an emotion.”

The original score from METALOCALYPSE: the DOOMSTAR REQUIEM A KLOK OPERA will be released as a full-length album on October 29, 2013. And this isn’t just your average metal record— this is full blown musical featuring a fifty-piece orchestra. This full-length album features the bonus DETHKLOK single ‘Blazing Star’ and orchestral movements (produced by Brendon Small and Emmy winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica/Walking Dead). Also included with the album will be a bonus "making of" featurette with Executive Producer/creator/writer/musician Brendon Small and cast/musicians.

Legendary powerhouse metal drummer Gene Hoglan returns to join Brendon and DETHKLOK. Other musicians include bassist Bryan Beller (DETHKLOK/THE ARISTOCRATS/ JOE SATRIANI), and Mike Keneally (DETHKLOK, FRANK ZAPPA, JOE SATRIANI).

Creator Brendon Small states, “This is not like anything we've ever done. This is a full blown musical- metal combined with symphonic passages, classic musical theatre, high stakes drama, emotional moments, and yes totally ridiculous comedy. I drew from all of my influences to make this the most unique project I could dream of. This is easily the best thing we've ever done with the show and the music. I can't wait for you to hear it.”

Composer Bear McCreary states, “I have been a fan of Metalocalypse for many years, and I am fortunate to call Brendon Small my friend. METALOCALYPSE: the DOOMSTAR REQUIEM A KLOK OPERA provided us the opportunity to collaborate that we'd always been looking for. I had a blast helping Brendon realize his vision for a fully-produced orchestral score to accompany his drop-tuned guitars and pounding double kicks.  This opera takes his catchy songwriting to a whole new level, and I was thrilled to help out.”

Hank Williams Jr. to Headline Fifth Annual
New Year’s Eve 'Bash on Broadway'

Nashville, Tenn.  – Grammy award-winning country singer/songwriter Hank Williams Jr. will headline the fifth annual Music City New Year’s Eve ‘Bash on Broadway’ event in downtown Nashville, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (NCVC) announced today. A city that knows how to throw a good party, Music City will once again offer one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the country with multiple days of free live music and Nashville’s own midnight “Music Note Drop®.”

“Football, football and Hank! All our rowdy friends are staying over this year,” said Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the NCVC. “This may be the best end-of-year “mash-up” we have ever had with the Titans, the SEC and Hank ringing in the New Year. Are you ready?”

“This year is going to be very special on New Year’s Eve,” says Hank Williams Jr. “December 31st will mark the 60th anniversary of daddy’s death. For years, I have not performed on New Year’s Eve in honor of my father, but this year is a monumental year in the history of Hank Williams. If daddy would have lived, he would have been 90 years old this year. I hope Music City is ready to boogie woogie, because Bocephus is going bring the party to Nashville.”

Sponsors of this year’s New Year’s Eve ‘Bash on Broadway’ include Miller Lite, Coors Light, Jack Daniel’s, Advance Financial 24/7 and McDonald’s.

Announcement of additional artists will be forthcoming. For the latest details about talent and events, visit www.visitmusiccity.com/newyearseve.

Hank Williams Jr.
Though he began his career in the shadow of his legendary father, Hank Williams Jr. emerged as a formidable Country singer-songwriter in his own right with 1960s hits such as “It’s All Over But The Crying” and “Cajun Baby.” But things changed with the 1979 release of “Family Tradition,” where he broke the Nashville mainstream by adopting a rebel image and writing/recording in a style incorporating his Blues and Southern Rock influences. The results were staggering as  42 Top-10 hits followed, two CMA Entertainer of the Year honors, three ACM Entertainer of the Year honors, multiple Grammy nominations and a Grammy award for “There’s a Tear in My Beer”, a duet with his father using electronic merging technology.

As groundbreaking as Hank Williams Jr. became, it wasn’t just his performance that people took note about, but rather his songwriting that became so notable. The driven musician penned hits songs year after year scoring 20 BMI Awards. One of the arguably most-heard Country song of modern times, the four-time Emmy award-winning “Are You Ready For Some Football?,” which was heard nationally as the theme song of ABC and ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecasts, was aired for 21 years.

As the accolades kept coming, Williams sold over 55 million albums, achieving gold, platinum, and multi-platinum status along with 13 of those albums hitting the no. 1 spot on the Billboard chart. In 2008, Williams was honored with the BMI Icon award at the 56th annual BMI Country Awards, joining an elite group of past honorees including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton.

NASHVILLE, TN (October 1, 2013) – Earlier today (10/1), Florida Georgia Linerounded up some of their "party people" for an exclusive sneak peek at their first major headline tour – HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES TOUR 2013. Hundreds of fans and members of the music industry community gathered at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to watch the breakout duo's final rehearsal before they embark on the 32-city tour, which kicks off this Thursday (10/3) in Brookings, SD. The CMA nominees began the concert preview with the exciting news that HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES…THIS IS HOW WE ROLL, a deluxe version of their chart-topping debut album is slated for 11/25 release on Republic Nashville.

The hot newcomers were surprised with a special presentation commemorating several recent career milestones. FGL scored three plaques for the PLATINUM certification of their aptly titled debut album HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES; GOLD certification for “Round Here,” and breaking the record for longest #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart with "Cruise."

The multiple ACM and CMT Music Award winners exploded to the top of the charts with their MULTI-PLATINUM debut single “Cruise,” which has sold over 5.8 million copies in the US alone and has become the second best-selling Country single ever, according to Soundscan. They followed with PLATINUM “Get Your Shine On” and GOLD “Round Here,” solidifying FGL as the only artist in history to join Brooks & Dunn in having their first three singles hit #1 for multiple weeks each. To date, more than 10 million tracks worldwide have been sold from FGL’s Republic Nashville debut album, HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES, which has been certified PLATINUM in the US and GOLD in Canada.

Currently, FGL is nominated for their first-ever CMA Awards for Vocal Duo of the Year; New Artist of the Year; Single of the Year for “Cruise;” and Musical Event of the Yearwith Nelly for the remix of “Cruise.” The show will air LIVE on November 6 at 8P ET/PT on ABC.
