This July 4th, A CAPITOL FOURTH continues its 39-year tradition of celebrating our nation's independence on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol building.  Two-time Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer John Stamos (Netflix's YOU, FULLER HOUSE, ER) returns to host the country's longest-running live national July 4th TV tradition.  A CAPITOL FOURTH's family-friendly Independence Day celebration will commemorate our country's 243rd birthday with all-star musical performances, and remains unaffiliated with any other July 4th events around the country, and in other locations in Washington, D.C.

The 39th annual edition of A CAPITOL FOURTH will feature: Grammy Award-winning music legend Carole King with the Broadway cast of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical BEAUTIFUL starring Vanessa Carlton; multi-award winning electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling; acclaimed Tony-nominated singer-songwriter and actress Keala Settle (THE GREATEST SHOWMAN);  multi-platinum recording artist and star of television, film and the Broadway stage Vanessa Williams; double ACM winner, CMA and Grammy nominee with more than 12 million in RIAA certified sales and early member of Pandora's Billionaires Club Lee Brice; Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat with her new band Gone West; five-time Grammy Award-winning Gospel vocalist extraordinaire Yolanda Adams; 2019 AMERICAN IDOL winner Laine Hardy; singing sensation Angelica Hale (AMERICA'S GOT TALENT); and this year's winner of THE VOICE (Season 16), Maelyn Jarmon, performing the "National Anthem;" with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly. 

The concert will also feature a special treat for the entire family, with Big Bird, Abby Cadabby, Rosita, Elmo, Grover, Bert & Ernie from SESAME STREET on hand to celebrate America's birthday.  The Sesame Street Muppets will perform a musical medley of patriotic favorites and iconic songs from the groundbreaking children's television series, currently celebrating a landmark 50 years of learning and fun. 

And, the concert will pay tribute to our men and women in uniform with a special performance by the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band and John Stamos. MusiCorps is a conservatory-level music rehabilitation program, formed in response to the needs of service members injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 2007, the program has become a pioneer in the field of adaptive music and has helped countless wounded warriors in their recovery. This inspiring moment will be dedicated to our troops serving around the world, their families, and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, fighting for our freedom.  

The 39th annual broadcast of A CAPITOL FOURTH airs on PBS Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network.  The program can also be heard live in stereo over NPR member stations nationwide.  The concert will also be streaming live on Facebook, YouTube and www.pbs.org/a-capitol-fourth and available as Video on Demand for a limited time only, July 4 to July 18, 2019.

The top-rated, award-winning program will be capped off with fireworks over our nation's iconic skyline and a rousing rendition of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" complete with live cannon fire provided by the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery, an audience favorite and A CAPITOL FOURTH tradition.

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Just announced, household-name 70s dance group, KC and The Sunshine Band, will help to celebrate America's 239th birthday by performing their top-selling, multi-platinum dance hits like "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "Get Down Tonight," "That's The Way (I Like It)" and more as part of A CAPITOL FOURTH, broadcast LIVE on PBS from the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. ET.

The band will appear along with Barry Manilow, Alabama, Nicole Scherzinger, Hunter Hayes, Meghan Linsey, Lang Lang, Ronan Tynan, Robert Davi and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Celebrating the March release of their new 60s cover album, Feeling You! The 60s, The Founder of The Dance Revolution, Harry Wayne "KC" Casey, and his high-energy Sunshine Band plan to bring their ultra catchy Miami-born pop, funk and R&B sound to the celebration, backed by one of the greatest fireworks displays in the country. With sales of over 100 million records, nine GRAMMY nominations, three GRAMMY Awards and an American Music Award, the band is still known today as one of the most progressive acts of the 70s, and their music is still discovered daily by millions around the world through its continual placement in top box office movies, commercials, video games and more.

"It's a great honor for us to be a part of this birthday celebration for America," said Casey. "We're fortunate to be celebrating our 35th anniversary of our biggest hits this year, so it's rewarding to see that they have stood the test of time, and when our nation comes together to celebrate something as significant as our nation's birthday and our freedom, we can be a part of it. According to event organizers, the top-rated, award-winning extravaganza reaches an audience of hundreds of thousands, and millions more at home through the live broadcast, as well as our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network. Twenty cameras will be positioned around the city, including the U.S. Capitol, the White House and the Washington Monument for the national broadcast. A CAPITOL FOURTH can also be heard live on the radio over NPR member stations nationwide.

Rock superstar Bryan Adams, will be plugging in once again and hitting the road with a full band to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the multi-million selling album, ‘Reckless’. Adams will be performing a set that will honor not only the 30th Anniversary of 'Reckless’ – a deluxe version of which has been released via UMC/Polydor this past November, featuring exclusive expanded bonus material – but also his endless catalogue of anthemic hits.
Since its release in 1984, ‘Reckless’ has gone 5 times Platinum in the U.S. alone and has sold over 12 million worldwide. It spawned ground-breaking hits such as "Run to You", "Kids Wanna Rock", “Somebody", "Summer of '69", “One Night Love Affair" and "It's Only Love" a duet with the incomparable Tina Turner. 'Reckless' also gave Bryan is first U.S. #1 on Billboard with "Heaven" as well as a Diamond Award for over a million sold in his home country of Canada. Adams current album, Tracks of My Years, is his first studio release in six years, and features a wide range of musical styles reflective of a time when rock was played alongside pop, country and R&B.   Great Performances captures Adams in peak performance during his current world tour, performing favorites from the new album as well as his own chart-topping hits. The performance – including "Here I Am," "Summer of '69," "Heaven," and "Straight from the Heart" -- was filmed at Toronto's Elgin Theater in July 2014, and marks the singer's PBS debut.

Music Icon Frankie Valli Set To Celebrate Nation's Birthday, Performing Live From The U.S. Capitol, On PBS's "A CAPITOL FOURTH" 

 

WASHINGTON, May 19, 2014/-- PBS's A CAPITOL FOURTH is thrilled to announce that legendary singer Frankie Valli will perform at the live concert event celebrating the nation's 238^th birthday on July 4. America's National Independence Day celebration, broadcast from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, puts viewers front and center for an all-star salute topped off by the greatest fireworks display anywhere in the nation.
With his signature falsetto voice and countless hits, Frankie Valli is an American icon who transcends generations.  Thanks to the success of the Tony-winning musical, Jersey Boys, which chronicles the life and times of Valli and his legendary group, such classic songs as "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Sherry," and "My Eyes Adored You," are the rage all over again. The musical has taken Broadway by storm and currently six companies perform Jersey Boys nightly from Las Vegas to London and is entering its 9^th year and is the 13^th longest running show in Broadway history. In the meantime, the real Frankie Valli is packing venues around the world.
Valli has been successfully touring and making music for more than fifty years now, both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of The Four Seasons. Valli's first taste of national exposure came in 1962 when he and The Four Seasons performed their single "Sherry" on American Bandstand. The performance took the nation by storm propelling the group to their first #1 record and making them a household name. The hit train continued to roll for The Four Seasons in 1963 and 1964 as they went on to produce several more #1 hits.
After much success with The Four Seasons in the first half of the '60s, Valli released his first solo effort in 1967, Frankie Valli: Solo. The album contained the mega hit "Grease." He would go on to produce nine Top 40 hits and two #1 singles.
Valli has even dipped into the acting pool having appeared on the iconic HBO series The Sopranos as mobster Rusty Millio and more recently in the Rob Reiner film, And So It Goes, set for release this July. The highly-anticipated film adaptation of the musical Jersey Boys, is also set to be released on June 20, and is directed by Clint Eastwood.
Frankie and the Four Seasons have influenced many other great recording artists. The group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and to date have sold over 100 million records.  Valli continues to perform before sell-out crowds and from all the recent success including his first studio album in 15 years, Romancing the '60s, Frankie Valli is as big as he was in 1962 and not looking to hang up the microphone anytime soon.

UNDER THE STREETLAMP AND GENTLEMAN’S RULE

March 3, 2014 -- With their unique style and modern “Rat Pack” persona, UNDER THE STREETLAMP brings the American Radio Songbook to a whole new level in their second television special for PBS.  With the mantra “Retro never sounded so now,” these four extremely talented and charismatic former cast members of the Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical “Jersey Boys” provide an electrifying concert produced at the renowned Chicagoland’s Star Plaza Theater.  “UNDER THE STREETLAMP: Let The Good Times Roll” is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations throughout the month.  The first batch of airings started to air Saturday, March 1 (check local listings).  

 

To celebrate the premiere of both specials, UNDER THE STREETLAMP and GENTLEMAN'S RULE will launch a 50-city U.S. concert tour on April 17 in Bloomington, IN at the IU Auditorium.  It concludes June 26 in Newark, NJ at the NJPAC.  More shows will be added in the coming weeks.  Fans should check the group’s websites for updated show and ticket info.

 

Backed by an outstanding ten-piece band, singers Michael Ingersoll, Shonn Wiley, Michael Cunio and Christopher Kale Jones bring these classic hits back to the millions of fans who fell in love with this music in the first place.  The show includes classic hits of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s with the perfect balance of tender ballads and uptempo classics, all done with the same signature harmonies and slick dance moves that have made them irresistible. The title of this program--“Let The Good Times Roll”--says it all. Of course no STREETLAMP show would be complete without a musical tribute to “Jersey Boy” Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

 

The next generation of a cappella entertainment, GENTLEMAN’S RULE, takes this unique style of music to a whole new level in their first television special for PBS.  From the creator of Straight No Chaser and the producer and manager of UNDER THE STREETLAMP, GENTLEMAN’S RULE exudes youth, energy and incredible harmonies in a concert performance that brought down the house at Chicagoland’s prestigious Star Plaza Theatre.

 

GENTLEMAN’S RULE blends their youthful style and outstanding vocals with timeless classics and contemporary hits. Their diverse music selections include songs by the legendary Manhattans, Bill Withers, the Rolling Stones, Rascal Flatts and the Spencer Davis Band, just to name a few. Whether the music is classic ‘60s, ‘70s, or contemporary hits, GENTLEMAN’S RULE applies their unique harmonies to create a “wow” factor unlike any other a cappella group.

 

The eight versatile and individually talented vocalists in GENTLEMAN’S RULE are Will Lockhart, Brent Mann, Luke Mechlin, Holland Nightenhelser, Jasper Smith, Jesse Townes, Andrew Morstein and TJ Breen.  Based out of Chicago, the group is signed to Arena Child Records and released their first album, ACT ACCORDINGLY, in 2012.  The release coincided with a two-week run at Chicago’s acclaimed Royal George Theater, followed by a national tour supporting UNDER THE STREETLAMP.
