Justin Bieber's PURPOSE Explodes To #1 With Biggest Debut Of 2015, Amassing 649,000 First Week Units

PURPOSE SHATTERS GLOBAL SPOTIFY RECORD FOR MOST ALBUM STREAMS IN ONE WEEK WITH OVER 200 MILLION; HITS #1 iTUNES IN OVER 100 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE
"PURPOSE WORLD TOUR 2016" OPENS MARCH 9th, 2016

Global superstar Justin Bieber's brand new studio album PURPOSE (released November 13th), propelled by back-to-back smash hit singles "What Do You Mean" and "Sorry," has officially become the biggest debut of 2015, entering the Billboard 200 album chart at #1 on first week adjusted sales of 649,000 copies, it was announced today by Steve Bartels, CEO, Def Jam Recordings.
PURPOSE is Justin's sixth album to debut at #1, and the highest one-week sales tally of his career.
"This truly historic opening is a testament to the incredible depth of PURPOSE and all of Justin's hard work and creativity," said Steve Bartels. "When you have incredible artistry, culture-defining hit music that can travel the globe, and an unparalleled synergy of delivery and execution between Def Jam and the SB Projects Team, you can set goals and surpass them. Congratulations to Justin Bieber on this massive accomplishment; this one will go down in history as not only a great team win, but a true artistic achievement and the first step in the next chapter of Justin's incredible journey."
The album shattered the global Spotify record for most album streams in one week, with over 200 million plays. Around the world, PURPOSE hit #1 on iTunes over 100 countries, as "What Do You Mean," "Love Yourself" and "Sorry" hold strong inside the U.S. iTunes Top 10.  Bieber stormed the UK singles charts on Friday with three singles in the top five, a feat no other artist has managed since John Lennon, posthumously, in 1981. "Sorry", "Love yourself" and "What do you mean" took first, third and fifth place.
The new album's success is underscored by the announcement of the North American leg of Justin's "PURPOSE World Tour 2016," opening March 9th at KeyArena in Seattle.  The 50+ city, 58-date tour, promoted by AEG Live, will bring Bieber's dynamic live show to U.S. cities including Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston and Miami, as well as throughout Eastern and Western Canada.  There will be two-night runs at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Staples Center in Los Angeles, Chicago's Allstate Arena, and Toronto's Air Canada Centre.  The North American leg of the Purpose World Tour will conclude on July 18, 2016, at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden.
Anticipation for the arrival of PURPOSE reached fever pitch during "Bieber Week" on NBC Universal's Ellen, culminating in Justin's release-day outdoor concert in front of 5,000 fans.  Justin also performed on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and on The Today Show's Citi Concert Series, and took a drive with James Corden on the CBS Late Late Show "Carpool Karaoke" feature.
PURPOSE was launched with "An Evening With Justin Bieber," sold-out events that started on album-release-day with three presentations at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, then continued during the week at Allstate Arena in Chicago, and Toyota Center in Houston.  In addition to screening the 45-minute dance film "PURPOSE: The Movement," each event was highlighted by special guest appearances and a live Q&A session with Justin.
Last Saturday, following the Friday release of PURPOSE, VEVO began an hourly schedule of premiering each brand new video that was produced for each song on the album.  Shown in sequence (with live links to view each video), they are: "Mark My Words," "I'll Show You," "What Do You Mean," "Love Yourself," "Company," "No Pressure" featuring Big Sean, "No Sense," "The Feeling" featuring Halsey, "Life Is Worth Living," "Where Are Ãœ Now" (with Skrillex & Diplo), "Children," and "Purpose."
Back-to-back worldwide smash hit singles "What Do You Mean" and "Sorry" continue to dominate radio airplay and video with the arrival of PURPOSE"What Do You Mean" became Justin's first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 the first week of release, and his first #1 on the Top 40 radio-based Pop Songs airplay chart.  The song hit #1 in his native Canada, and became his first #1 UK national chart hit as well.
"Sorry," Justin's new Skrillex & Blood-produced single, followed its predecessor to the top of the charts at #1 and #2 in more than a dozen territories around the world.  "Sorry" is accompanied by a dance video directed and choreographed by Parris Goebel

Joe Cocker's Legacy Celebrated With Two-CD 'The Life Of A Man: The Ultimate Hits 1968-2013,' Alongside CD Reissues of 2007's 'Hymn for My Soul' and First-Ever U.S. Release of His Final Album, 'Fire It Up' "

"Joe Cocker's voice is an irresistible force that combines a love of American soul music with an undeniable depth of feeling." - Rolling Stone

"I just need to communicate everything through my voice. I think that's one of the reasons why my fans have stayed loyal to me over all the years. Through my voice - I express emotions - that's all I do." -Joe Cocker

It's almost one year ago since Joe Cocker died at his home, Mad Dog Ranch, on the 22nd December, 2014, aged 70. The iconic British rock star has been much missed. He was undoubtedly one of the pre-eminent rock musicians of his generation, releasing 22 studio albums, 10 live albums, 68 singles, and numerous compilations during his lifetime.

Universal Music Enterprises is honoring the memory of Joe Cocker with the release of the two-CD collection, The Life Of A Man: The Ultimate Hits 1968-2013, a 36-track compilation which comes out December 11. The Life Of A Man: The Ultimate Hits 1968-2013 is the first comprehensive double album with all the hits and highlights of his career, the definitive 'Best Of' of all time, encapsulating Cocker's entire musical history, delivered in his signature husky blues voice. The Life Of A Man: The Ultimate Hits 1968-2013 offers a career retrospective, with tracks from his 1969 A&M Records debut, With a Little Help From My Friends, which included the title song – a UK No. 1 in 1968 – his first single  "Marjorine," which Joe penned, and his cover of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright"; his self-titled sophomore album (featuring his covers of the Beatles' "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window," George Harrison's "Something," Leon Russell's "Delta Lady" and the Lovin' Spoonful's "Darling Be Home Soon") and, of course, "Up Where We Belong," his hit with Jennifer Warnes, to the title track of his final studio album, Fire It Up, and a live version of "You Are So Beautiful," recorded in Cologne, Germany, in February, 2013, with both never available in the U.S.
Two additional Joe Cocker titles have also been made available on CD including two of his final three album releases. Hymn For My Soul, his 20th studio album was first released in 2007. Produced by Ethan Johns, who plays several instruments on the album, the songs include his signature covers of George Harrison's "Beware of Darkness," Bob Dylan's "Ring Them Bells," John Fogerty's "Long As I Can See The Light," The Meters' "Love Is For Me," Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'" and a Cocker favorite, Percy Mayfield's "River's Invitation." Guest musicians on the album include Benmont Tench from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, guitar legend Albert Lee, drum icons Jim Keltner and James Gadson, and horn players Greg Adams (Tower of Power) and Tom Scott. The disc's spiritual theme put the record in the top 10 of the Christian Album chart.
Fire It Up was Cocker's 22nd and final studio album. A hit across Europe when first issued in 2012, reaching the Top 5 in several countries, going platinum in Germany, the album is now receiving its first-ever U.S. release. Produced by Matt Serletic, known for his work with Matchbox Twenty and many other artists, the album features songs by Keith Urban, Joss Stone, Marc Cohen and Marc Broussard, and includes three bonus tracks including Serletic's "The Last Road," Marc Cohn's "Walk Through the World With Me" and "Let Love Decide."
Cocker always gave his carefully curated songs his unmistakable trademark regardless of genre from Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer In The City" to Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers To Cross," with his own signature stamp, an incomparable interpretation, often and publically endorsed by the original writers. Paul McCartney was quoted:  "He was a lovely northern lad who I loved a lot and like many people, I loved his singing. I was especially pleased when he decided to cover 'With A Little Help From My Friends' and I remember him and Denny Cordell coming round to the studio in Savile Row and playing me what they'd recorded and it was just mind blowing, totally turned the song into a soul anthem and I was forever grateful to him for doing that."
Joe Cocker was born in Sheffield on 20th May, 1944 to Harold and Madge, into a working-class background. Cocker crafted his performance in inner city pubs and clubs, even supporting The Rolling Stones in November, 1963 at Sheffield City Home under the name Vance Arnold And The Avengers.  But Cocker finally came to the forefront of the musical landscape when he delivered a historic performance at Woodstock on Sunday 17th August, 1969. That iconic moment led to The Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour in 1970, and he remained relevant through five decades, constantly delivering music and emotions to audiences around the world.
Cocker's final and official posthumous album The Life Of A Man: The Ultimate Hits 1968-2013 is a collection of outstanding songs over two CDs; an essential album for every music collection, the final curtain call for an artist loved and missed. These three releases offer a fitting retrospective on one of the most remarkable musical careers in rock history.

Broadway's Critically-Acclaimed Musical A Night with Janis Joplin To Embark on 70-Show North American Tour

Tour Begins February 9, 2016 at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto, filters through St Louis for a Peabody Opera House date

Features Tony Award-nominated actress Mary Bridget Davies as Janis Joplin

Iconic Entertainment Studios and T&D Productions announced today that Broadway's A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN will take the stage, touring 34 cities across the U.S. and Canada for a total of 70 shows, kicking off February 9th in Toronto. Conceived, written, and directed by Randy Johnson, the rock musical features choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Tyler Evans.
The show is a musical journey celebrating Janis Joplin and her biggest musical influences – trailblazers like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith, all of whom inspired Joplin to become one of Rock 'n' Roll's greatest legends. Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. Her unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made Joplin a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock. Audiences will enjoy Joplin's favorites, including "Piece of My Heart," "Cry Baby," and "Me and Bobby McGee," among many others.
The New York Times raved that A Night With Janis Joplin "rocks the house" and Variety called it "electrifying." New York 1 cheered, "This will rock your socks off!"
A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN features Mary Bridget Davies in the starring role. Upon gaining local acclaim for her work in various rock bands, Cleveland native Davies was asked to sit in with Big Brother & The Holding Company (Joplin's original band, with whom she would later tour), as well as legendary blues guitarist Robert Lockwood Jr. Davies received a Tony® nomination for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical" when A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN debuted on Broadway in 2013.
A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN's 2016 North American Tour is presented by Iconic Entertainment Studios in association with Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich. A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN is presented in further association with The Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeffrey Jampol of JAM, Inc.
