SHOW-OPENING PERFORMANCE OF “WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER” LAUDED AS “SMASHING”

TAYLOR SPENDS 4TH WEEK AT #1 WITH “I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE.”

 

NASHVILLE,TN (February 11, 2013) -- Taylor Swift won her 7th career GRAMMY award at  the 55thAnnual GRAMMY Awards, bringing home GRAMMY gold last night for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games. Taylor shares the award with collaborators T Bone Burnett and The Civil Wars. Taylor previously won GRAMMY awards for Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year (in 2010), and Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance (in 2012 and 2010). “Safe & Sound” is a critical and fan favorite that Rolling Stone praised as “Swift’s prettiest ballad.”

Taylor opened the GRAMMY telecast with what The New York Times heralded as a “festive…extravagant, circus-themed production,” a show-stopping theatrical performance of her worldwide chart-topping smash “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” from her 5+ million-selling current album RED. The Los Angeles Times wrote that “the performance demanded your attention” and Entertainment Weekly praised Taylor’s “reckless abandon” and the “literal heat” and “big reveal” she brought to the GRAMMY stage. USA Today listed the performance among the night’s “top musical moments,” calling Taylor “smashing.”

Taylor is currently in her 4th consecutive week at #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart with “I Knew You Were Trouble.”, her second global chart-topper from RED. “Trouble” reached #1 this month in the UK, where RED was just certified Platinum. “Trouble” has also reached #1 on the radio airplay charts in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Denmark, and is Top 10 in countries spanning four continents. “Trouble” has been certified 4X Platinum in New Zealand, 3X Platinum in the U.S. and Canada, and is Platinum or Gold in South Africa, the UK, Norway and Ireland. Released on Big Machine Records, RED has been certified 4X Platinum in the U.S. for sales in excess of 4 million albums, was just certified Platinum in Japan, and has worldwide sales topping 5.4 million. “Trouble” is also at #3* and climbing Billboard’s Hot AC Chart. “Begin Again,” also fromRED, is at #6* and climbing the Billboard Country radio chart, with more than 28.5 million audience impressions this week.

Next week, Taylor will perform on the BRIT Awards in London. Taylor, who is on the cover of the March issue of ELLE, is the only female artist in music history (and just the fourth artist ever) to twice have an album hit the 1 million first-week sales figure.
