Nashville, TN (November 6, 2012) – GRAMMY-nominated Republic Nashville trio The Band Perry has already laid a strong foundation for their new single, “Better Dig Two,” among fans and critics alike. Immediately following their knockout performance at last Thursday's (11/1) CMA Awards, the edgy tune began trending nationwide on Twitter's Top 10. "Better Dig Two" quickly catapulted into the iTunes Country Singles Chart Top 10 before nailing the #1 spot and locking in the #3 position on the Overall Top Singles Chart with sales soaring to over 82,000 copies sold in the first week. "Better Dig Two" was the most added at Country radio according to both Country Aircheck/Mediabase and Billboard with a total of 93 monitored stations on by add date. The sibling trio's latest offering will be featured on their forthcoming sophomore album on Republic Nashville, slated for release in April 2013.
Preceding the awards, TBP delivered the single to Country radio and met with several stations on location in Nashville. Kimberly, Reid and Neil spoke to on-air personalities about "Better Dig Two," calling it "the ultimate love song … the kind of love not even death can separate.” Operations Manager Clear Channel Minneapolis / KEEY Program Director Gregg Swedberg said, "on a sophomore album, you either play it safe and do the same old thing or you kick it up a notch. This song proves that TBP are here to be taken seriously. Gorgeous song, huge smash and exactly the kind of song that takes them to the next level. I've been a fan of TBP since the very beginning. And this song proves to me that my trust in them as an artist has not been misplaced."
The Band Perry has earned a plethora of positive reviews since launching the new single.
The New York Times described their CMA performance of "Better Dig Two" as "dangerously impressive, a morbid, furious stomp that showcased the frontwoman Kimberly Perry’s dark ideas and rich voice."
Entertainment Weekly raved that "BD2" is "…a sly, banjo-plucked confession of love (read: obsession) that’s amped up by a gigantic dose of crazy. Kimberly Perry drawls with a newfound edge in her voice…"
According to Rolling Stone, "the family country band shifts from subdued hand claps and banjo finger-picking to explosive choruses flush with huge guitar crashes and Kimberly Perry's searing hot siren calls."
Additionally, Taste of Country noted, "the arrangement is clever and Kimberly Perry’s voice soars over top like a raven circling its prey…"
TBP will soon release the "Better Dig Two" video, which they shot just outside of Nashville on Friday with director Declan Whitebloom. They rounded out the weekend back in front of the camera, taping the “CMA Country Christmas” special, which will air on ABC on December 20 and 22. The Perry's will head to Europe this week for shows in Sweden, Norway, Ireland and the UK.
The band has three nominations at next month's American Country Awards, including Artist of the Year: Group and in early 2013, they will hit the road with Rascal Flatts' CHANGED TOUR.
