Only Nashville, Tennessee could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans –each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town’s commercial community – who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls’ reward. In doing so, they are braiding their bluegrass roots with new threads of their own design, bringing together country, soul, and other contemporary influences to create an unapologetic hybrid that is old as the hills but fresh as the morning dew. This is new music with the old feeling. SteelDrivers fan Vince Gill describes the band’s fusion as simply "an incredible combination."

Turkuaz is a 9-piece “Powerfunk” army hailing from Brooklyn, NY, whose modern twist on the classic sound has placed them at the forefront of a new funk evolution. With the obvious influences—Parliament, Sly & The Family Stone, Rick James and Zapp and Roger—as the basis for a recipe, Turkuaz adds healthy doses of Talking Heads inspired jittery, world-pop-dance grooves and a passion for The Beatles, Motown and R&B into the mix, resulting in a refreshing update to the funk idiom. A universally appealing dance band at its core, Turkuaz’s tightly arranged songs are built on thick grooves, driven by a powerhouse rhythm section and interlaced with swirling guitar lines and synthy keyboard riffs.

Dweezil Zappy bringing dad's music to The Ready Room, presented by Old Rock House

ORH Concerts Presents:
Zappa Plays Zappa
at The Ready Room
Monday, April 20th
Doors 7pm  Show 8pm
$25 Advance $30 Day of Show
All Ages
Tickets: http://www.thereadyroom.com/event/765447-zappa-plays-zappa-st-louis/

Growing up in the Zappa family home, Dweezil Zappa marveled at his father's virtuoso skills as a composer and guitarist. After his father's passing he was inspired to do something to honor his father. Feeling as though there was a generational gap and a fair amount of public confusion as to what his father's music really was, Dweezil set about creating an opportunity for music fans to make a new discovery. Not satisfied with the generic journalistic descriptions that had been applied over the years or the accidental default association of "novelty act" he earned by way of the casual radio exposure of songs like "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" and "Valley Girl," Dweezil Zappa decided it was time for a change. He wanted to expose core fans as well as a potential new generation of fans to his father's compositions in a way that would give them a balanced perspective of the totality of Frank Zappa's work. He wanted to play the music as it was written on the page without deviation except for the obvious improv sections. He also worked diligently to match the textures and timbres of the instrumentation in each song, especially the guitar tones, Evoking the character of each era of the catalog. He set out to have the music speak for itself. If Zappa Plays Zappa was to become a conduit for a new generation of people discovering Frank Zappa's music then Dweezil wanted to do his best so that very little could be lost in translation.

“Virginia natives Carbon Leaf weave their signature indie-rock blend of Celtic, Appalachian, folk, and country into a rousing new brand of music best described as ‘ether-electrified porch music’. The five-man band's steadfast arrangement of guitar, bass, drums, and mandolin is rounded out with more exotic instruments, like the bouzouki, fiddle, accordion and penny whistle, all tied together by lead singer Barry Privett's bold, straightforward baritone.

UPON A BURNING BODY is currently wrapping up a tour in the UK! Check out a great new show review by Metal Hammer here: http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/reviews/2014-11-24/upon-a-burning-body-live-in-london

“Many may still bemoan UPON A BURNING BODY’s infamous and poorly executed PR stunt, but judging by the crowd in the Underworld tonight – which is impressively busy given a) the backlash that greeted that aforementioned stunt and b) Crossfaith are playing just down the road – people are still willing to let the music do the talking. There’s a sense of excitement in the air that has been sorely lacking across much of the more, for want of a better term, ‘mainstream metal’ scene as of late. Despite their setbacks and however many of those may have been self-inflicted, however, this is still a band very much on the brink of going somewhere big.”

Remaining UK Headliner dates:
11/25 - Roadhouse @ Manchester
11/26 - Academy @ Birmingham

UPON A BURNING BODY’s debut offering, The World Is Ours, caught the metal scene by storm with its crushing Pantera-esque grooves and dynamic riffing and captivating hooks. Then with the success of their sophomore album, Red.White. Green., they continued to march the path of great metal taking the band to new, higher levels. Their live performance is unmatched, which quickly had their name being spread by the masses throughout the scene.

Their highly acclaimed new offering The World Is My Enemy Now was tracked, mixed and mastered with renowned producer Will Putney (For Today, Body Count) at The Machine Shop in NJ. The record debuted at #39 on the Billboard Top 200 in its first week, solidifying the band as a new force to be reckoned with in heavy metal.

With a clear vision for their identity and an immeasurable level of determination, UPON A BURNING BODY are touring full-time throughout the world spreading their message of dedication, self-belief and relentless competitive greatness. Sumerian founder Ash Avildsen commented, “UPON A BURNING BODY frontman Danny Leal has one of the most distinguishable and decipherable voices I have heard in years. With the perfect soundtrack of riffs and beats backing him and an explosive live show, there is no question what the very near future will hold for this band.”

ORH Concerts Presents & The Point Welcomes
WALK THE MOON
at The Ready Room
Tickets will be on-sale Fri. 9/12 at 10am! Wednesday, October 22nd
Doors 7pm, Show 8pm
$20 Flat  All Ages

This past June, Seattle news and culture blog Seattlest.com posted a review of a show by Walk The Moon. It read like this: “Walk The Moon hit the stage with so much energy that the crowd immediately pushed forward and started dancing. It's refreshing to see a band that's having as much, or more, fun than the people there to see them. They took us back to the days of basement dance parties on hot summer nights, where everyone's just happy to be alive and among friends.”

That review pretty much sums up this young Cincinnati band’s mission statement: “We want our music to be the most fun thing you've ever listened to in your entire life,” says bassist Kevin Ray. “We want it to not just affect you emotionally, but also physically in that it makes you want to dance.”

London-based singer/songwriter Charli XCX (aka Charlotte Aitchison) celebrates the success of two growing ‘song of the summer’ contenders – “Boom Clap” and Iggy Azalea “Fancy” (Ft. Charli XCX) – announcing her upcoming North American headline fall tour. Dates get underway September 26th at The Social in Orlando, Florida and then travel through late October (see attached itinerary) and presale tickets – as well as an exclusive signed 7’’ single from Neon Gold – are available now to fans by logging on: http://bit.ly/1nZPIdi.
“Boom Clap” – which was performed live last night on Late Night w/ Seth Meyers (www.nbc.com/late-night-with-seth-meyers/video/charli-xcx-boom-clap/2796838) along with a performing this morning on NBC’s TODAY SHOW – has rocketed into the top 40 on Billboard’s “Hot 100,” marking Charli XCX’s top 40 debut as a lead artist. The first single from “THE FAULT IN OUR STARS – MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE” is also proving a sensation, earning over 3 million views and counting: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOPMlIIg_38.
If that’s not all, the Neon Gold/Atlantic recording artist premiered a new remix for “Boom Clap” from NYC pop duo ASTR, which premiered yesterday on the New York Times T Magazines, and can be streamed and shared via: https://soundcloud.com/charlixcx/boom-clap-astr-remix
Recently honored as SESAC’s 2014 “Songwriter of the Year,” for penning last year’s 2x RIAA platinum certified, “I Love It (Ft. Charli XCX),” recorded with Icona Pop – Charli XCX achieves #1 chartbuster with co-written “Fancy (Ft. Charli XCX)” with Iggy Azalea.
Now in its sixth consecutive week atop Billboard’s “Hot 100,” “Fancy (Feat. Charli XCX)” is an undeniable phenomenon. Celebrating the song’s overwhelming popularity, Charli XCX has joined Iggy Azalea on a wide array of high profile live performances, including the mtvU Woodie Awards 2014, the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, and ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the highly rated season finale of Dancing With The Stars.
Charli XCX has quickly proven an unqualified global superstar. She made her first splash with 2011’s “Nuclear Seasons” and quickly unleashed an indelible string of singles, mixtapes, and videos, including “You’re The One” and “You (Ha Ha Ha).” “TRUE ROMANCE” – Charli’s IAMSOUND/Atlantic debut album– earned some of last year’s most rapturous reviews, with Stereogum naming it as its “Album of the Week,” stating “Charli seems to skip right across ideas and words and genre boundaries because she’s never known a world where those things get in the way.” Rolling Stone tagged Charli XCX as an “Artist to Watch,” proclaiming, “Her rhymes – all street swagger and steamy gothic heartache – flash like low-rent neon. The effect can be breathtaking.” “Her collage of pop dreams, electro flash, and diary-rage lyrics could very well create a new generation of pop stars,” wrote SPIN, while Pitchfork praised Charli XCX with their “Best New Music” stamp, “TRUE ROMANCE’ suggests she'll be worth following for a while. On Tumblr, Instagram, and whatever comes next, sure, but musically most of all.”
The upcoming tour sees Charli XCX continuing on her non-stop schedule, having already spent much of the past two years knocking out audiences both here and abroad with headline tours, support slots, and show-stealing festival appearances. Critical applause has also rained down, with The New York Times praising Charli’s “furious, catchy, electronic dance-pop songs about being a woman scorned” and Idolator hailing her as “freakishly energetic” and “unique.” Perhaps Urban Outfitters summed it up best: “Charli XCX is badass.”
