SHARKS UNVEIL NEW TRACK
"SUNDAY'S HAND" FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM SELFHOOD DUE OUT ON APRIL 30TH
LOS ANGELES, CA - April 10, 2013 - The UK's Sharks today released a new track entitled "Sunday's Hand" from their much-anticipated new album Selfhood, which is due out on April 30th via Rise Records. To listen to the electrifying new track, click HERE.

Selfhood is the follow up to their striking 2012 offering No Gods, which NME called, "joyous blue-collar punk from Leamington Spa... a starry-eyed celebration of yearning on a US factory floor, as idealised by British spa town punks." The band previously released the album's single "Portland", which can be heard HERE. See below for album art, full track-listing and pre-order bundles.

Selfhood was recorded in just two weeks in Southampton, UK at The Ranch studio and produced by Lewis Johns (Gnarwolves, Bastions). The album channels influences from the likes of The Smiths, Richard Hawley and The Cribs. This new release expands on the explosive punk-meets-Brit-pop anthems on No Gods, and showcases a more mature and solid live band - a result of endless international touring in support of past releases.

"I wrote most of the lyrics in a room above a morgue in which I lived with my fiancée for about five months," said Mattock. "The place was an old Victorian building with no heat, running water, or bathroom. It wasn't even legally residential. A lot of what I was going through around this period is channeled in the lyrics. These are the most intimate and personal songs I've written - thus Selfhood is the most fitting title."

Born in 2007, Sharks is James Mattock (vocals), Andrew Bayliss (guitar), Sam Lister (drums), and Carl Murrihy (bass). They released their first independent EP, Shallow Waters, in 2008 and drummed up a serious buzz while playing with the likes of Gallows, The Wedding Present, Social Distortion, Hot Water Music, The Gaslight Anthem, Baby Shambles and more. In 2011 they released The Joys of Living 2008-2010, which BBC's Zane Lowe praised as "the sound of a band reaching that moment when they are absolutely ready." Their 2012 release No Gods introduced the band to U.S. audiences, with Alternative Press declaring that their music "bristles with a wonderful sense of rock and roll heritage that serves as a tribute to fallen heroes... something refreshing and contemporary."

Stay tuned for announcements on U.S. touring plans.

"All we desire to achieve is the connection of an emotion sincerely felt."

SHARKS UNVEIL VIDEO FOR
"LUCK"
FROM
DEBUT ALBUM NO GODS
Sharks - Luck (Official Music Video)
Sharks - Luck (Official Music Video)

Los Angeles, CA - October 18, 2012 - UK band Sharks today revealed a new music video for "Luck" from their debut  full length album, No Gods, which was released last March via Rise Records. The video was shot in Northampton and directed by Ryan Macktfall.

Said the band's James Mattock, "The video for Luck was shot in Northampton at my friend's art studio where I currently reside with my fiancée. It's an old victorian factory building, and with all the space and the taxidermy on the walls, it just made for an irresistible location to shoot a video. It also ties in with Sharks' history as Aasen Stephenson (deathhouse), who works here, did a lot of artwork for our records in the past. The concept for the video is the most simple and direct idea we've had, but the actual process of filming was extremely difficult. The studio is above a funeral home, and since we filmed through the hours of midnight to 4am, within the first or second take the police were banging down the door and were having shut the whole thing down. Subsequently, Sam had to play the drums without practically making any noise, and with having to mime along to the track and everything, he did a good job. The projections on the walls are just a couple of movies I love including 'The Man Who Laughs' and a personal favourite, 'The Penalty'. Neither of which bared any particular relevance to the song. The video was made by our good buddy, Ryan Mackfall."

Born in 2007, Sharks is James Mattock (vocals), Andrew J. Bayliss (guitar), Sam Lister (drums), and
Carl Murrihy (bass).  They released their first independent EP, Shallow Waters, in 2008 and drummed up a serious buzz while playing with the likes of Gallows, The Wedding Present, and Babyshambles. Barely old enough to drive, the group garnered critical acclaim from tastemakers such as KERRANG!, The Guardian, and NME for 2010's Show of Hands EP and incendiary performances supporting The Gaslight Anthem in the UK.  In April 2011, they released The Joys of Living 2008-2010, a 14 song collection of previously released tracks and two band new ones that garnered them instant acclaim.  Zane Lowe praised the collection as "the sound of a band reaching that moment when they are absolutely ready," while Kerrang called them "one of the best bands around."

Sharks have upcoming live dates in the UK and Australia. For a full list of dates, click HERE.

SHARKS TO RELEASE RISE RECORDS DEBUT, NO GODS, MARCH 20, 2012

BAND WILL HIT THE ROAD WITH SOCIAL DISTORTION AND FRANK TURNER STARTING JANUARY 27, 2012
UK-based punk band Sharks today announced their Rise Records debut album, No Gods, will be released on March 20, 2012. Sharks will also hit the road once again in the United States with Social Distortion and Frank Turner starting January 27, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Produced by Brian McTernan (The Explosion, Hot Water Music, Cave In), No Gods swims between the rules and regulations of the iconoclastic chaos of punk rock and British indie music. Over the course of eleven infectious anthems, Sharks sharpen timeless melodies with an explosive edge tempered by intricate riffing and hypnotic harmonies. It's pure. It's poetic. And it's powerful.

Born in 2007, Sharks is James Mattock (vocals), Andrew J. Bayliss (guitar), Sam Lister (drums), and Tony Corrales (bass). They released their first independent EP, Shallow Waters, in 2008 and drummed up a serious buzz while playing with the likes of Gallows, The Wedding Present, and Baby Shambles. Barely old enough to drive, the group garnered critical acclaim from tastemakers such as KERRANG!, The Guardian, and NME for 2010's Show of Hands EP and incendiary performances supporting The Gaslight Anthem in the UK. In April 2011, they released The Joys of Living 2008--2010, a 14 songs collection of previously released tracks and two band new ones that garnered them instant acclaim. Zane Lowe praised the collection as "the sound of a band reaching that moment when they are absolutely ready," while Kerrang called them "one of the best bands around."

Unlike many of their UK predecessors the band has toured extensively in the United States, often living in their van. In the United States they have toured with Social Distortion and just this year played the entire Vans Warped Tour and recently wrapped the 2011 Alternative Press Tour. They are currently featured in the "Most Anticipated Music of 2012" issue of Alternative Press. The magazine said their music "bristles with a wonderful sense of rock 'n' roll heritage that serves as a tribute to fallen heroes such as the Clash while simultaneously molding those influences into something refreshing and contemporary."

See them for yourself.
