BRANDY CLARK’S YOUR LIFE
IS A RECORD
OUT MARCH 6 ON WARNER RECORDS
FIRST SINGLE “WHO YOU THOUGHT I WAS” OUT TODAY
TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
Grammy-nominated and CMA Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Brandy Clark will release her highly anticipated new album, Your Life is a Record, March 6 on Warner Records (pre-order). In advance of the release, the first single, “Who You Thought I Was,” is out today—listen/share HERE.
Of the song, Clark shares, “The seed of the song came from something that John Prine said a couple of years ago at the Americana Awards. He walked out onstage at the Ryman and everyone stood up and clapped for what felt like five minutes. When everyone sat down, he said with a little laugh, ‘Well, I’m John Prine, but I’d like to go back to being who you thought I was.’ Man…that hit me. The songwriter in me instantly knew it was a song and the heart in me knew it was how I had felt in my own life many times. I mean who of us hasn’t let somebody down or wanted to be the version of ourselves that someone who loved us thought we were?”
Already receiving advance notice, NPR Music’s Ann Powers proclaims, “NPR Music’s Ann Powers declares, “Breakthroughs don’t always have to come for brand new artists,” and continues, “[Your Life is a Record] sounds like an instant classic. It sounds vintage, it evokes classic ‘60s country albums, but it also sounds completely contemporary,” while Rolling Stone recently included it as one of their “70 Most Anticipated Albums of 2020.”
Produced by award winning producer Jay Joyce, the 11-track album was recorded largely as an intimate acoustic four-piece—featuring Clark, Joyce, Giles Reaves and Jedd Hughes—with subsequent Memphis strings and horns layered in with arrangements by Lester Snell. Created after the dissolution of a long-term relationship, the album features Clark’s most personal songwriting to date along with special guest appearances from Randy Newman (“Bigger Boat”) and guitarist John Osborne (“Bad Car”).
In celebration of the release, Clark will tour extensively throughout 2020 including a series of winter tour dates with Tanya Tucker on the CMT Next Women of Nashville Tour. The run features stops at Philadelphia’s World Café Live, New York’s Town Hall, Memphis’ Graceland Soundstage among many others. Additionally, beginning in March, Clark will embark on her headlining “Who You Thought I Was Tour,” which includes special album release shows at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley on March 29, Los Angeles’ Lodge Room on April 7 and Chicago’s The Space on May 8. Tickets go on-sale next Friday, January 17 at 10:00am local time. See below for complete details.

A six-time Grammy nominee and CMA Awards “Song of the Year” recipient, Clark is one of her generation’s most respected and celebrated songwriters and musicians. Her songs include Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow,” Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart,” The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two” and Hailey Whitter’s “Ten Year Town,” which was just named #2 on Rolling Stone’s “25 Best Country and Americana Songs of 2019” round up. Her two solo albums—2013’s 12 Stories and 2016’s Big Day in a Small Town—each garnered immense critical acclaim landing on “Best of the Year” lists at New York Magazine, Billboard, NPR Music Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, etc. NPR Music’s Ann Powers calls her, “a storyteller of the highest caliber,” while Rolling Stone’s Will Hermes declares, “a country visionary…the consolation of a beautiful voice delivering a well-built song, cold truth rising from it like fog off dry ice.”

Jack Klatt has announced the release of his eagerly awaited new album. IT AIN'T THE SAME arrives everywhere via Yep Roc Records on Friday, September 27.

IT AIN'T THE SAME is preceded by today's premiere of a raucous new single. . "Prove My Love" is available now for streaming and download HERE; the track is joined by an equally rockin' companion video, co-starring Minneapolis-based artist Alberta Mirais and streaming via YouTube HERE.
"'Prove My Love' is a pure and simple rock n' roll song about the push and pull of romance," says Klatt. "What better way to visually capture the joy and chaos of love then two people dancing together? We shot the video on the night of the summer solstice at a fabrication shop that I work at in North East Minneapolis when I'm not on the road. It was a hot night and many beverages were consumed while me and Alberta Mirais danced the night into day. I couldn't dream of doing something like this with anyone but her. She is most assuredly the star of the show."

IT AIN'T THE SAME sees Jack Klatt affirming American roots music's contemporary credence with devotion, depth, and his own distinct worldview. Produced by Klatt at Chicago's Reliable Recorders, the album evinces a more creative approach to the studio than his previous outings while still staying true to the simplicity and spirit of traditional Americana. The singer-guitarist is joined in his efforts by a skilled set of session superstars, including The Deslondes' John James Tourville on electric guitar and pedal steel, bassist Casey McDonough (NRBQ), and Alex Hall (JD McPherson, Robbie Fulks) on drums, percussion, keys and engineering, with harmony vocals from The Cactus Blossoms' Page Burkum. Songs like the supple "I'll Never Let You Down" and the coolly confident "World Shaker" offer ample evidence of Klatt's increasing prowess and power, melding his early punk influences with the vast gamut of Americana styles to craft a robust, impossible-to-categorize collection that, as its title suggests, is both brand new and something special indeed.

"In the past, my records had been recorded live in two or three days, straight to tape, with little to no overdubbing," Klatt says. "I wanted to do something different this time, take some more care and explore all the possibilities the studio has to offer. This record feels like a step forward for me, a departure from my earlier country blues-based recordings. I learned and grew musically so much through the process. I can't wait to get back in the studio and do it again."

Balladeer and bluesman, singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitar master, Jack Klatt has worked tirelessly to take the remarkable range of Americana and made it his own. Bridging early rock 'n' roll to R&B, raw soul to country folk, the Minnesota-based musician's idiosyncratic output has earned him acclaim from the likes of Saving Country Music, which praised Klatt for "authentically interpreting ageless music with a new enthusiasm to make sure the old ways of making melodies never wane."

Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Klatt dropped out of college to see the world, busking his way from San Francisco to Spain before returning home with a new focus on songcraft and fingerstyle technique. He quickly put together a backing combo and began playing out across the Midwest, lighting up barrooms, saloons, clubs, and festival stages with his signature approach towards the country blues form.

Klatt soon began reaping national attention, with No Depression hailing his most recent LP - 2016's SHADOWS IN THE SUNSET - as "a collection of straight-forward, well-told stories of travel, love, saying goodbye and new beginnings." Saving Country Music named the LP to its "Essential Albums List for 2016," applauding it as "a portal back to a simpler, and more enriching time in American music." "It's a word that often gets thrown around," wrote The Daily Country, "but there's something truly genuine here. Klatt, influenced by his years of travel, delivers his narratives without pretense, making (this) a beautifully done album of classic American music." "The expansive and gilded country record is tender, thumping, and relaxed," wrote his hometown's City Pages, "played as if Klatt was sitting by a clear river of sounds where centuries flow together. The vibes are imperceptible, restful, and everlasting."

WILL HOGE CHAMPIONS THE
"STUPID KIDS"
ADVOCATING FOR CHANGE

NEW SINGLE "STUPID KIDS" FROM THE
FORTHCOMING ALBUM
MY AMERICAN DREAM

Out October 5 on EDLO/Thirty Tigers

Playing Off Broadway in St. Louis

Nashville singer/songwriter Will Hoge recognizes the movement of young people everywhere fighting for change on his newest track, “Stupid Kids” out today. The song is featured on Hoge’s politically-charged upcoming release MY AMERICAN DREAM, out October 5.

"Stupid Kids" is directly inspired by the Parkland students and their efforts for policy change in the wake of gun violence.

"Oh stupid kids don’t listen to what the old folks say
You’re the only ones that are ever gonna make things change
Keep your feet marching
Raise up your voice don’t quit
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’
Keep being stupid kids
Stupid kids"
Listen to Will Hoge's "Stupid Kids" and Pre-order MY AMERICAN DREAM

About the new album, Hoge says, "Silence couldn't be a part of my deal anymore.” Border police. Political corruption. Anti-intellectualism. Poverty. Gun control. A broken education system. Indifference to others' suffering. Each of these things weighed on Hoge, and he confronts them all head-on in MY AMERICAN DREAM which will come with a copy of the U.S. Constitution printed with the lyrics. The result is the fiercest, angriest, and most heartfelt collection of songs he's released. Eight songs of rabble-rousing political commentary that turns a critical eye on the crisis of conscience and culture threatening to tear apart his country, the album is Hoge's impassioned portrait of what he holds dear — and what we all might risk losing.

Rolling Stone Country has been supportive of Hoge and the two tracks that have been released thus far, “Thoughts & Prayers” and “Gilded Walls.”  The "Thoughts & Prayers" video is devastating, as it shows politicians’ hollow tweets in the wake of gun violence.  "Gilded Walls" touches on climate change, the Flint water crisis and school shootings.  In addition to writing and performing, Hoge is also an avid activist, lending his time and resources to raise awareness and money for the Believe in Service PAC, Everytown for Gun Safety and the Karl Dean for Governor campaign in TN.

Hoge's MY AMERICAN DREAM tour starts September 18th in Washington D.C. Prior to that, he will perform at the prestigious Americana Music Festival from September 11 - 15. In October he joins Social Distortion for a U.S. run. A UK tour with Lucero is planned as well. A full list of tour dates are below and at www.willhoge.com.

Hoge’s acclaimed 2001 debut Carousel established himself as a masterful songwriter, performer and critical favorite. Rolling Stone compared him to Bob Seger and John Mellencamp, while NPR praised his “sharp, smart, passionate rock ‘n’ roll that seems to exist out of time.” My American Dream is the follow-up to Hoge’s 2017 album Anchors.

CHARLEY CROCKETT FEATURED ON “WALKING THE FLOOR WITH CHRIS SHIFLETT”
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM
LONESOME AS A SHADOW OUT NOW
HEADLINE TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
Charley Crockett is featured on this week’s episode of “Walking The Floor with Chris Shiflett.” Listen to the full interview HERE. Of Crockett and the episode, Rolling Stone praises, “Charley Crockett has become the king of his own wild frontier…the conversation traces his path from the cotton fields of south Texas to the stages of theaters across the country. Along the way, Crockett and podcast host Chris Shiflett geek out over Memphis’ musical history, Texas' independent spirit and the thrill of chasing down your own unique horizon.”
The interview celebrates the release of Crockett’s critically acclaimed new album, Lonesome As A Shadow, which is out now (purchase/stream HERE). Produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Zac Brown) and recorded at Sam Phillip’s Recording in Memphis, TN, Lonesome As A Shadow is Crockett’s fourth full-length album and his first release consisting entirely of original songs.
Recent praise for Lonesome As A Shadow…
“…a rollicking mix of classic folk, soul, jazz, honky-tonk and blues…”
“It’s a more soulful side of the traditional roots-based sound that Crockett first honed as a street performer in New Orleans.”

“A soulful track that calls to mind Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions.”

“His music is rich with Southern flavor, a musical gumbo of Delta blues, honky-tonk, gospel and Cajun jazz. It’s the manifestation of a hard-lived life…”

“…Crockett's an instantly authentic Texan blessed of a voice and, on this fourth full-length, all original tunes that lope familiar, reassuring.”
“Wondrous”

 “A
captivating blend of Memphis soul, Cajun blues, and Texas country.”

“An infectious rockabilly scorcher…gets you moving; it’s so much fun to dance to this song that you’re disappointed when the music fades out.”

“He looks like a modern-day singing cowboy, writes lyrics with the conviction of a well-traveled blues picker and belts out songs with the finesse of a soul singer.”

“…Crockett is a much needed kick in the ass for country music. The cajun twist gives him an edge that would soon have him mentioned in the same breathe as Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Ryan Bingham, and Jason Isbell. The future is here, and it is Charley Crockett.”

“…Charley Crockett seems to possess everything needed for stardom.”
“Lonesome As A Shadow, is injected with a lot more southern soul…blends some newfound grooves in with the dusty country sound of Texas and his own traditional Cajun roots.”

“Charley Crockett is a name you’re going to be hearing more in the near future…an incredibly unique, yet traditional voice.”
Crockett will tour throughout 2018 in support of the record including headline shows at Phoenix’s The Rebel Lounge, Los Angeles’ The Mint, Dallas’ The Statler Ballroom and Seattle’s Sunset Tavern among many others. Crockett will also perform a series of shows supporting Turnpike Troubadours and Old 97’s. Tickets are on-sale now. See below for complete details.
In addition to Crockett on vocals and guitar, Lonesome As A Shadow also features his longtime touring band, “The Blue Drifters.”

The release of Lonesome As A Shadow culminates a series of breakthrough years for Crockett following the release of 2015’s A Stolen Jewel and 2016’s In The Night which received widespread critical acclaim and earned him a Dallas Observer Music Award for “Best Blues Act.” Following the releases, Rolling Stone included Crockett as one of their “10 Artists You Should Know” while Wide Open Country described him as, “A honky tonk hero for the modern era.” Most recently, in 2017, Crockett released a collection of his favorite honky tonk songs, entitled Charley Crockett presents Lil G.L.'s Honky Tonk Jubilee. The album features songs originally performed by Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker, Roy Acuff, Webb Pierce and other great heroes of honky tonk.
Inspired by the life of his ancestor Davy Crockett, the Texas native has traveled the world, spending time in Paris, Spain, Morocco and Northern Africa as well as singing on the streets across the U.S. from New Orleans’ French Quarter to New York City.

NOTE THIS' TWO DAY AWAY PLAY
CHRIS KNIGHT @ OFF  BROADWAY

Chris Knight doesn’t like to say much. Won’t chat about his worldview or engage in conversations on his creative approach. For 17 years, several acclaimed albums and a hard-nosed career that’s been hailed as “where Cormac McCarthy meets Copperhead Road”, Knight has always let his music do most of the talking. And on record – as well everywhere across America, from roadhouse taverns to major-city concert halls – his songs have had plenty to say. But with his most recent album, Little Victories (September 2012), Chris Knight has taken the discussion to a whole new level.

His first album of new material since 2008, Little Victories is a record of blunt honesty, elegiac truths and the raw rural poetry of an artist who’s come into his own and intends to stay. And for a performer who’s been compared over the years to Cash, Prine, Earle and Nebraska-era Springsteen, Knight now stands alone as a singer/songwriter that has carved his own idiosyncratic sound and sensibility out of the dirt road American dream. Little Victories not only sounds like a Chris Knight album, but the best Chris Knight album yet.

Little Victories also marked a reunion with producer Ray Kennedy, who’d engineered and mastered Knight’s seminal Enough Rope and two Trailer Tapes albums and is well known for his work with Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, John Mellencamp and Lucinda Williams. The album’s 11 songs purely rank among Knight’s finest. And if the title track not only finds Knight at his most cheerily optimistic (for Chris, at least), it also features vocals from his lifelong musical hero John Prine. “When I was 16, I got a John Prine songbook and learned about 40 of his songs,” Knight explains. “Used to play them for the kids in study hall at school every day. About 20 years later, I finally got to meet him when I opened a few shows for him. He asked me to come out and sing “Paradise” as part of his encore, and I got to play the blonde Martin guitar that was on the cover of his first album. I sent him “Little Victories” and he liked the song enough to be on it.” Chris treasures the moment when the two first listened to the playback of their distinctive twangs rasping joyfully together on the chorus. “‘Prine turned to me and said, ‘We sound pretty good together. Just like Phil and Don Everly.’”

So after 17 years, 8 albums and a still uncompromised reputation as one of the best singer/songwriters in America, what has Chris Knight learned from it all? “I’ve learned that I’m pretty lucky to do what I do and make a living at it,” he says. “I’m really proud of this record, and it’ll be fun to play these songs live. For people who like my music and maybe even for someone hearing me for the first time, I think they’ll find songs on here that mean something to them and they can hang on to. I don’t want to talk about it too much, but I think people are gonna be surprised.”

And for Chris Knight, that’s victory enough.
