Today, Marco Benevento releases "Send It On A Rocket," his self-proclaimed "end of summer anthem" and third single ahead of new album Let It Slide (out September 20th on Royal Potato Family). In between references to reefer and Topo Chico, deep pockets of bass and spaced-out synths, the cascading composition reveals that behind the bandleader who covers his piano strings in gaffers tape and enjoys walking his pet goats and peacocks through the Catskill woods, there are patches of sorrow he's now ready to contemplate more seriously than ever.

Listen to "Send It On A Rocket" HERE, which Relix already calls "a bassline-fueled tune that packs a punch with its lush, infectious chorus."

And head to Talkhouse to read Benevento's own introduction to the song, including a special thank you note to dearly departed friend Richard Swift, who was set to mix the record until his passing.

The sounds of "Send It On A Rocket" preview the new territory charted between Benevento and Let It Slide producer Leon Michels, a partnership marking the first time Benevento relinquished studio control of his own music. As evident on the new single, that surrender led to his deepest inward exploration, and spontaneous impulses like taping those piano strings.

This fall, Marco Benevento and his electrifying band bring the new music to over 30 US tour dates - find them all below, watch unreleased track "Oh Baby Can't You See" live on Adult Swim's FishCenter, and the homemade music videos for previous singles "Let It Slide" and "Say It's All The Same."

MARCO BENEVENTO UNVEILS NOVEMBER TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM LET IT SLIDE (OUT SEPT 20/ RPF)

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE “LET IT SLIDE”:

Marco Benevento has announced a run of November shows in support of his new album Let It Slide, out September 20 (RPF). Together with his summer/fall dates already announced he has 25 shows scheduled through November including a headlining show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn October 24. Marco recently announced his new album and it has already been met with praise from KCRW, Brooklyn Vegan, and a live performance on Adult Swim’s FishCenter.

Watch “Let It Slide” here, filmed on a VHS camera: https://youtu.be/joFRnBi4f3I

"Bubbling, epigrammatic, free-wheeling" - KCRW, on new single
"Benevento was bridging the gap between indie rock and jam bands way before there were thinkpieces on it" - Brooklyn Vegan
"Throughout his long and acclaimed career, piano virtuoso Marco Benevento has experimented within forms and flipped them from the inside, out" - Metro NY

Let It Slide is the result of a new partnership and fast friendship with Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) who has worked with Dr. John, Dan Auerbach, Charles Bradley, Lee Fields and Mark Ronson. Michels produced the album and recorded it at Diamond Mine Studios in Queens and Benevento’s own Fred Short studio in the Catskills.
Let It Slide features Benevento (Vocals, Piano, Synths, Bass, Percussion), Nick Movshon (Drums, Bass), Leon Michels (Organ, Percussion, Bass, Guitar, Saxophone), Karina Rykman (Vocals and official bassist in Benevento’s touring trio), Andy Borger (Drums on “Solid Gold”) and longtime musical partner Brad Barr (Guitar on “Humanz”).
Benevento has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall and Newport Jazz to Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, and worked in the studio and on the road with the likes of Richard Swift (The Shins, The Arcs), Jon Brion (Spoon, Aimee Mann), A.C. Newman (The New Pornographers), and Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Lumineers). He also plays keyboards in Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. "It’s safe to say that no one sees the keyboard quite like Marco Benevento's genre-blind mashup of indie rock, jazz and skewed improvisation," the LA Times has raved, while NPR said he combines "the thrust of rock, the questing of jazz and the experimental ecstasy of jam.”

It’s impossible not to hear freedom and excitement coursing through the veins of Marco Benevento’s new studio album, ‘Let It Slide.’ Produced by Leon Michels (The Arcs, Lee Fields), the record introduces a gritty, soulful edge to Benevento’s brand of high-octane keyboard wizardry—an uptempo, uplifting sound he playfully describes as “hot dance piano rock.” For all Benevento’s virtuosity on the keys though, the songs here are driven primarily by intoxicating grooves, with spare drums and minimalist bass lines underpinning infectious, intentionally lo-fi vocal hooks. The resulting vibe is a timeless one, filtering elements of vintage R&B and soul through modern indie rock and pop sensibilities and peppering it with the kind of adventurous improvisation that Benevento’s come to be celebrated for worldwide. Dubbed "one of the most talented keys players of our time" by CBS Radio, Benevento’s released six critically acclaimed solo albums over the last decade, performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall and Newport Jazz to Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, and worked in the studio and on the road with the likes of Richard Swift (The Shins, The Arcs), Jon Brion (Spoon, Aimee Mann), A.C. Newman (The New Pornographers), and Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Lumineers) among others. "It’s safe to say that no one sees the keyboard quite like Marco Benevento's genre-blind mashup of indie rock, jazz and skewed improvisation," the LA Times raved, while NPR said he combines "the thrust of rock, the questing of jazz and the experimental ecstasy of jam," and Rolling Stone praised "the textures and colors available in his keyboards and arsenal of manipulated pedals and effects," along with his "deceptively rich, catchy melodies and straight-ahead grooves."
