Willie is America’s music hero. It’s hard to put into words what he means to singers, songwriters, musicians, and people all over the world. Through life’s ups and downs, heartbreaks and rewards, Willie and his songs have been a dear and constant friend to all of us. He’s a trusted father figure to millions of Americans by lifting them up through FARM AID and his annual JULY 4th PICNIC. He’s the clear inspiration for dozens of today’s biggest music stars from all genres of music.

About Willie Nelson:
With a six-decade career and 200 plus albums, this iconic Texan is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of Crazy, Red Headed Stranger, and Stardust. Willie Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician and amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor, and activist. He continues to thrive as a relevant and progressive musical and cultural force. In recent years, he has delivered more than a dozen new album releases, released a Top 10New York Times’ bestsellers book, again headlined Farm Aid, an event he co-founded in 1985, received his 5th degree black belt in Gong Kwon Yu Sul, headlined the annual Luck Reunion food and music festival at his ranch in Luck, TX during SXSW, launched his cannabis companies Willie’s Reserve and Willie’s Remedy, and graced the covers of Rolling Stone and AARP The Magazine. In 2015, Nelson published “It’s A Long Story: My Life,” the unvarnished and complete story of his life that landed him on the New York Times’ bestsellers list. He also released a new studio album with Merle Haggard titled Django And Jimmie, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country album chart and #7 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart. In November 2015, the Library of Congress honored him with their Gershwin Prize for Popular Song for his contributions to popular music. He is the first country artist to receive the distinguished award. The following year began with the release of Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin, a collection of 11 newly recorded Gershwin classics. The album debuted at #1 on both the Top Current Jazz chart and the Top Traditional Jazz chart, as well as earned him a Grammy Award for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. In September 2016, came For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price, an album of newly recorded interpretations of 12 Ray Price songs. In 2017, he released two albums of newly recorded performances: God’s Problem Child, with 13 new songs that debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country album chart and #10 on the Billboard 200, and Willie Nelson and The Boys (Willie’s Stash, Vol. 2), that includes 11 country classics and one brand-new song performed by Nelson and his sons Lukas and Micah. For 2018, he released Last Man Standing in April to celebrate his 85th birthday. It is comprised entirely of songs newly-penned by Nelson (and longtime collaborator and producer Buddy Cannon). In September he released My Way, a collection of newly recorded standards and classic originally made famous by Nelson’s close friend and musical colleague Frank Sinatra. Not a month later, Nelson debuted his new song “Vote ‘Em Out,” an urgent exhortation to citizens everywhere to participate in democracy. He sings “the biggest gun we’ve got; is called the ballot box; so if you don’t like who’s in there; Vote ‘em out…” These new songs and performances add to his classic catalog, and finds Willie Nelson rolling at a creative peak, writing and singing and playing with the seasoned wit and wisdom that comes from the road, which he still travels along performing for fans.

Legendary songwriter, recording artist and performer Paul Simon, will embark on his farewell concert tour on May 16 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Rogers Arena. Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour will encompass shows across North America, the United Kingdom and Europe, with Simon and his band bringing to the stage a stunning, career-spanning repertoire of timeless hits and classic songs which have permeated and influenced popular culture for generations.
Tickets for Paul Simon’s Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour will go on sale beginning February 8 at 9 a.m. in Europe and February 9 at 10 a.m. in North America and the UK. The complete tour itinerary is listed below. Go to PaulSimon.com for ticketing information as it becomes available.
According to Simon, the Homeward Bound tour is a fitting culmination of a performing career that began in the early 1960s and has coincided with his artistic journey as a songwriter and recording artist until the present day.
He said of this farewell tour, “I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end. Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”
Having created a distinctive and beloved body of work that includes 13 studio albums, plus five studio albums as half of Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon is the recipient of 16 Grammy Awards, three of which—Bridge over Troubled Water, Still Crazy after All These Years, and Graceland—were Album of the Year honorees. In 2003, he received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in Simon & Garfunkel, and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
During his unparalleled career, Simon has achieved 29 Top 40 singles in the U.S. alone, with 14 of those reaching the Top 10 or higher, including “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” (which reached #1), “Kodachrome,” “Loves Me Like A Rock,” “Mother and Child Reunion,” “Late In The Evening,” “You Can Call Me Al” and many others. With Simon & Garfunkel, he wrote and performed the #1 singles, “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and numerous other timeless hits.
Paul Simon is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, both as a member of Simon & Garfunkel and as a solo artist. Simon was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2002 and was named one of Time magazine’s “100 People Who Shape Our World” in 2006. In 2007, Simon was awarded the inaugural Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, which recognizes the profound and positive effect of popular music on the world’s culture. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2011. And in 2012, he was named the recipient of the prestigious Polar Music Prize along with classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Simon’s philanthropic work includes the co-founding of the Children’s Health Fund (CHF), which donates and staffs 53 mobile medical units that bring health care to low-income children and their families in urban and rural locations around the United States. Since its inception in 1987, CHF has provided more than 3 million doctor/patient visits.
Throughout his career, Simon has also raised millions of dollars for worthy causes as varied as Autism Speaks, The Nature Conservancy, CURE, Tibet House and the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation’s Half-Earth Project, which is committed to stopping the species extinction crisis by conserving half the planet’s lands and oceans.

Charlie Daniels "Volunteer Jam" Set for August 12th at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena to Support The Journey Home Project
The Journey Home Project Inaugural Event at The Palm Sells Out

Charlie Daniels announces the legendary “Volunteer Jam,” which began in 1974 at War Memorial Auditorium when Daniels and his friends recorded a live version of “Fire On The Mountain,” will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 12, 2015, to raise awareness and funds for The Journey Home Project. Tickets for Charlie’s Volunteer Jam will be available online at charliedaniels.com, thejourneyhomeproject.org, or through Ticketmaster starting Spring 2015.

“We are extremely excited that Charlie will be bringing the Volunteer Jam back to Nashville. Everyone can only guess who his surprise guests are going to be,” says The Journey Home Project board member Ed Hardy. “Charlie is a big man with a big heart. His love and passion for our troops and veterans is unparalleled. We definitely could not do this without him.”

The announcement comes on the heels of the inaugural Journey Home Project fundraising event, which took place at The Palm on Tuesday, September 9, to a sold out audience. Guests were treated to music by Rodney Atkins, Mandy Barnett, Ryan Weaver and Daniels, but the big surprise of the night was the interaction with troops in Afghanistan through a special uplink coordinated by David Corlew and the Special Operations community.

“It was a very special moment, there was not a dry eye in the room” says The Journey Home Project board member David Corlew. “I have been very fortunate traveling to Afghanistan where I visited our troops and have built a personal relationship with many of them.  Being able to connect our supporters with those that we are raising money for was something nobody expected, and that was special.”

The Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes Fund, which is part of the Yellow Ribbon Education Program at Lipscomb University, was created by Daniels and Corlew to raise money to allow our military heroes to receive an excellent education. Those efforts will continue through The Journey Home Project, which was established to cultivate and bring all fundraising efforts under one umbrella.

The Journey Home Project mission is to help connect people who might not come into contact with soldiers on a daily basis, but who care. The organization will also assist other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit Veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

REMINDER: The Charlie Daniels Band will be in concert at the River City Casino Events Center on Friday, November 21... Visit River City Casino website for details...
