CHRIS STAPLETON LEADS NOMINEES AT 55TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS

September 9, 2021—Ten-time CMA Award winner Chris Stapleton leads nominees at the 55th Annual CMA Awards with nominations in five categoriesEntertainer of the YearMale Vocalist of the YearAlbum of the Year (Starting Over), Single of the Year (“Starting Over”) and Song of the Year (“Starting Over”), while also earning additional producer credits in both the Album of the Year and Single of the Year categories. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC from Nashville on Wednesday, November 10 at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT.
The nominations add to yet another monumental year for Stapleton, who is currently in the midst of his extensive “All-American Road Show” tour. Of recent performances, the Charlotte Observer praises, “In a live setting, Chris Stapleton is a bit of a revelation, vocally and sonically, able to produce note-perfect facsimiles of the already-astounding studio versions of his Southern rock and outlaw country and bluegrass songs,” and went on to praise him as, “the soul of the show, the deliverer of raw, powerful, beautiful lyrics by way of one of the most uniquely arresting voices in country music today,” while the Austin American-Statesman asserts, “there’s probably no better touring act in country music at present.”
Upcoming “All-American Road Show” stops include New York’s Madison Square Garden, two nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and Washington State’s Gorge Amphitheatre as well as “A Concert for Kentucky”—a special performance to be held at University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field on April 23, 2022. The concert is the first ever held at UK’s Kroger Field and will feature very special guests Willie Nelson and Family, Sheryl Crow and Yola. 100% of the concert’s net proceeds will benefit Stapleton’s newly created Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund. Established in partnership with the Blue Grass Community Foundation, the fund will specifically support local and national organizations directly impacting Kentucky, with initial grant distributions focusing on music and arts education. Tickets are on sale now at ChrisStapleton.com. See below for complete itinerary.
The tour further celebrates the release of Starting Over, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Moreover, the album’s title track recently reached #1 at country radio’s Mediabase Chart, only Stapleton’s second chart-topping single as an artist following 2018’s “Broken Halos.” Released this past fall on Mercury Records Nashville (stream/purchase here), Starting Over is an album of startling prescience, featuring fourteen tracks that examine life’s simplest joys and most serious struggles. Once again produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the record won Album of the Year at the 56th ACM Awards and landed on several “Best of 2020” lists including NPR Music, Rolling StoneBillboardEsquire, Vulture, The Tennessean and The New York Times, who declares, “Chris Stapleton’s roar isn’t designed to scare you off. It’s regal, an announcement of an alpha figure asserting his primacy…on this, his fourth album, the thrill is back.”

“It is easily one of the best records I’ve heard this year. It’s easily one of the best country records I’ve heard in a long time. And I have no doubt it’s going to be one of the best country records I’ve heard this decade once everything is said and done.”

Kentucky-born Stapleton is a 5x Grammy, 10x CMA and 9x ACM Award-winner and one of the country’s most respected and beloved musicians. Following 2015’s quintuple platinum breakthrough solo debut album Traveller, Stapleton released two #1 albums in 2017. Both From A Room: Volume 1 (certified platinum) and From A Room: Volume 2 (certified gold) take their name from legendary RCA Studio A, where they were recorded with Cobb. Released to overwhelming critical acclaim, The Tennessean praises, “Both are rich with the textures of Stapleton’s vocals that make him one of country music’s most beloved artists, classic country sounds and thoughtful articulate lyrics about love, life and pain.” He was also recently announced as the first-ever “Artist-Songwriter of the Decade” recipient by the Academy of Country Music.

Chris Stapleton won Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (From A Room: Volume 1 as both artist and producer) at last night’s 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards.
The awards continue a triumphant 2018 for Stapleton, who recently won Best Country Album (From A Room: Volume 1), Best Country Song (“Broken Halos”) and Best Country Solo Performance (“Either Way”) at the 60th GRAMMY Awards. Stapleton also joined legendary artist Emmylou Harris on the live GRAMMY broadcast for a performance of “Wildflowers” in tribute of Tom Petty. Additionally, earlier this year, Stapleton returned to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” as well as CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and made his debut on PBS’s “Austin City Limits.”

Cure on bass and Derek Mixon on drums.
Moreover, Stapleton is featured on Justin Timberlake’s new song, “Say Something.” The music video—which was filmed in a single shot at L.A.’s historic Bradbury Building—has been viewed over 161 million times. Watch here.

BRENT COBB’S “MORNIN’S GONNA COME” VIDEO DEBUTS AT RELIX
ALBUM PROVIDENCE CANYON OUT MAY 11
ON TOUR NOW, WILL JOIN “CHRIS STAPLETON’S
ALL-AMERICAN ROAD SHOW” THIS SUMMER/FALL
The official music video for Brent Cobb’s new single, “Mornin’s Gonna Come,” is premiering today at Relix, who call it, “awesome,” and further that the album, “maintains the warm, engaging spirit of its predecessor.” Watch HERE. The song is from the Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and performer’s highly anticipated new album, Providence Canyon, due May 11 on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records (pre-order).
Recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the album features eleven songs including “King of Alabama,” of which Rolling Stone proclaims “Come for the raw twang and countrified croon; stay for the Thin Lizzy guitarmonies that punctuate the bridge, proving that Cobb still isn’t unafraid to push beyond his genre’s borders.” NPR Music’s Ann Powers furthers, “Cobb, a troubadour whose classic country-rock songs are enhanced by his warm heart and keen eye, tells Mills’ story with grace and discretion, as does the charming animated video…Cobb kicks out a Keith Richards-in-Muscle Shoals riff on his acoustic guitar and it melds perfectly with the organ to form a foundation that’s pure, easy locomotion. Each verse follows another like the stretch of blacktop between exits, resolving in a chorus that’s breezy and uplifting without unsettling the song’s groove. Far from maudlin, Cobb’s tribute does exactly what Mills did: it keeps on rocking, headlights on, until the last note.” The accompanying video, which Rolling Stone asserts, “[it] adds an appropriately surreal touch to Cobb’s tale of unruffled heroism and blue-collar nobility,” can be watched/shared HERE.
Each digital pre-order comes with an immediate download of “King of Alabama” and “Mornin’s Gonna Come” as well as “Ain’t A Road Too Long,” which debuted last year.
In celebration of the album, Cobb’s “Ain’t A Road Too Long” tour is currently underway, featuring special guest Savannah Conley. Following these headline dates, Cobb will once again join Chris Stapleton on his “All-American Road Show” this summer and fall including dates at L.A.’s The Forum, Chicago’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre and New York’s Madison Square Garden. See below for full details.

The new album and tour follow a breakthrough few years for Cobb, who was nominated for Best Americana Album at the 60th GRAMMY Awards for his major label debut, Shine On Rainy Day. Released in 2016 to overwhelming acclaim, The Tennessean calls the album, “…an outstanding piece of work and a collection of true, country songs,” while WXPN World Café asserts, “…a gorgeous solo album that promises to place him in the top echelon of this century’s young troubadours…” Since the album’s release, Cobb was also nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2017 Americana Honors & Awards and made his television debut on CONAN.
Cobb was born in Americus, Georgia, about an hour east of Columbus, in the rural south-central part of the state. In addition to his work as an artist, Cobb is widely respected as a songwriter garnering cuts by Lee Ann Womack, Luke Bryan, The Oak Ridge Boys, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and more.
