Son Of British Singer Adele Wins Privacy Case

British singer Adele's toddler son has won a five-figure sum in damages after paparazzi photographed private family moments.
Adele’s lawyer Jenny Afia said Wednesday that the Grammy-winning performer was adamant her son Angelo must never become “public property.”
She said: “It is a matter of profound sadness that many of his milestone moments, such as his first family outing and his first trip to playgroup, were photographed and published worldwide expressly against his family’s wishes.”
Afia said Adele accepts her public profile, but the family never encourages routine photos that intrude on their privacy.

The damages from the settlement with photo agency Corbis Images UK will be held in a trust for Angelo, who turns 2 in October, and the agency agreed not to use the photos again.

Adele Garners Six Grammy® Award Nominations

Adele earns an impressive six GRAMMY ® Award Nominations for her hugely successful sophomore album 21.  Adele has been nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video.

Adele's sophomore album 21 is the biggest selling album of 2011 with over 13 million units sold worldwide.  21 spent 39 consecutive weeks in the top 5 of Billboard Top Albums chart since it's release in February, the most weeks by any artist in the chart's 55 year history.  According to Billboard, "It surpasses Michael Jackson's "Bad," which racked 38 straight frames in the top five following its bow at No. 1 on Sept. 27, 1987."  This week in New York, Adele was presented with a plaque commemorating 5 million albums and 11 million singles sold in the U.S. (See attached).
Adele's recently released DVD/CD Adele Live At The Royal Albert Hall has garnered rave reviews from the critics with Rolling Stone acknowledging her "poise of a superstar" in their 4 star review.  Adele Live At The Royal Albert Hall is available on DVD and Blu-Ray and features the full 90 minute performance, plus behind the scenes footage shot throughout that day. The package also contains an exclusive live CD of the entire show. This is the first time fans will be able to hear all of Adele's hits and best loved songs on one CD plus her stunning covers of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and The Steeldrivers "If It Hadn't Been For Love."

Adele is #1 on U.S. Charts With Over 350,000 Units Sold Debut Week

SOPHOMORE ALBUM 21 IS A GLOBAL SUCCESS

SOLD OUT NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF IN MAY

Adele's sophomore album 21 soars to the #1 position on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart with over 350,000 copies sold this week.  To date, Adele's 21 is the biggest selling album of 2011.  This amazing U.S. debut comes hot on the heels of Adele's massive international success where 21 entered charts at #1 in the U.K., Ireland, Austria, New Zealand, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.  After delivering a jaw dropping performance of her song "Someone Like You" at The Brit Awards on February 15, that live performance immediately shot to the top of the U.K. singles chart.  Also that week Adele's single "Rolling In The Deep" was at #4 with her two albums both occupying the #1 ( 21 ) and #4 ( 19 ) positions on the UK album chart.  This feat has earned Adele the distinction of being the only living artist to tie the Beatles 1964 record of having two entries in the top 5 on both U.K. singles and album charts.  Released in Europe on January 24, Adele's 21 has dominated the UK album chart in the #1 position for five weeks straight.  This week Adele occupies the #1 and #2 positions on the UK album chart with 21 and 19 respectively.

Praised for her incredible vocal ability and sincere songwriting, the critics cannot stop raving about Adele and 21 .   Associated Press declared "Adele, who is now 22, has created more than just an album with good songs: she's crafted a masterpiece."   Entertainment Weekly 's assessment of the new music affirms that "21 is that rarest pop commodity: timeless," while the Los Angeles Times suggests that Adele "is towering in the same landscape where some of her contemporaries have lost their bearings."
Adele is set to kick off a sold-out tour of North America on May 12 in Washington, DC.  Most dates sold out in minutes with venue upgrades needed in Seattle and Los Angeles as well as an additional date added in New York (see below for full list of tour dates).  The tour will route through cities like Toronto, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Atlanta and culminate with a final show in Nashville, TN on June 20.
