Get ready to feel “The Rush” in emerging alt-rock singer JJ Wilde’s sweltering new video. The “soul-stirring” (Ones to Watch) vocalist channels rockstar aesthetics and makes them her own in the video, where we see the long-haired rising rock badass sprawled on a bed surrounded by models, rocking out in the middle of an adoring crowd, smoking a joint, and riding a motorcycle into the night. The exciting visual, bolstered by the road tested swagger JJ Wilde has become known for, is sure to send shockwaves through your system.
After cutting her teeth on the road opening for The Struts, The Glorious Sons, Reignwolf, and Incubus (all within less than a year after she released her debut single “Wired”), she’s embarking on her first headlining U.S. tour supporting her debut EP Wilde Eyes, Steady Hands (out via BMG/Black Box) this week. JJ has been confirmed as an opener for Jimmy Eat World’s 2020 Canadian Tour, yet another co-sign from prominent alt-rockers for one of the genre’s most exciting new voices.
“The Rush” is the latest single off JJ Wilde’s Wilde Eyes, Steady Hands, crossing one million streams on Spotify. The four-song collection is a cathartic, rousing and well-varied amalgamation of pure, "fiercely unapologetic" (Atwood) rock n roll. It strikes the perfect balance between raucousness and sincerity, mixing together sweltering odes to independence with warmer self-reflective moments (like "State of Mind" which finds JJ confronting her imperfections, knowing she'll eventually learn from her mistakes). She pairs her earnest songwriting with her instantly memorable, velveteen rasp and full-throttle guitar.
Atwood Magazine said that "such an artistry is hard to come by" praising "State of Mind" and first single "Wired" as "a kind of high-octane affirmation that she’s holding nothing back from her audience" (w/ the latter track being also featured on a variety of Spotify's most important rock playlists, including widely-streamed "New Noise," "New Music Friday Canada," and "Fierce Femmes").
