Morris is currently on the first leg of her GIRL: The World Tour with upcoming stops in Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, New York and beyond this spring before heading to Europe and Australia. The Tennessean praises her live show as “a pocket-sized arena spectacle,” while CMT furthers that her performances are “a night of true joy, sass, harmony and all the female empowerment you could ever want.” Visit marenmorris.com for full tour details, with more dates to be added soon.
GIRL, out now via Columbia Nashville, has shattered the record for the largest ever debut streaming week for a country album by a woman with 23.96 million streams in its first week. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and continues to receive rave reviews. The album also features history-making title track “GIRL” which had the highest debut on Billboard’s Country Streaming Songs chart by a female artist and the highest weekly streams by a female country artist ever.
To further support the release, Morris performs her track “The Bones” on “Ellen” this Friday,April 5, following recent appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Today Show,” and “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
Additionally, Morris is nominated for Female Artist of the Year at the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards this weekend, and she will perform with Brothers Osborne on the ACMs stage.
GIRL comes three years after Morris’ breakout debut album Hero and explores how her life has changed since then—a skyrocketing career, falling in love, becoming engaged and then married—and the highs and lows in between.
The singer, songwriter and performer is fresh off the heels of five Grammy nominations at this year’s awards including Record of the Year and Pop Duo/Group performance for her massively acclaimed hit “The Middle” with Zedd and Grey which also broke the record for most weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, making Morris the first country artist to top that chart. Her Grammy nominations also included Country Solo Performance for her Elton John cover “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters” and Country Duo/Group Performance and Country Song for her Vince Gill collaboration “Dear Hate.”
Morris won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards, was named New Artist of the Year at the 50th Annual CMA Awards, Top Country Female Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards and New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. She was also the most played female artist on country radio in 2017 and 2018.
The 28 year-old singer-songwriter from Arlington, Texas got her start playing in bars around her hometown and quickly made a name for herself with her Gold certified debut album Hero and its Platinum-selling “My Church,” Gold-selling “80s Mercedes” and “I Could Use A Love Song.” Hero and its singles topped charts nationwide, set Country radio records, and were some of the most critically acclaimed works of 2016.
Recent critical praise for GIRL:
“Maren Morris is the future of country music.”—TIME
“A Texas songwriter with a sharp eye, a velvet voice and a mean streak…‘GIRL’ sets the bar high right away. It’s the most ambitious and eccentric song she’s done yet, an emotional powerhouse driven by jagged rock guitar.”—Rolling Stone
“Maren Morris is a little bit Springsteen, a little bit Teenage Dream”—Stereogum
“Morris is one of music’s most curious young artists currently working…GIRL is a 14-song collection showcasing [her] at her prime, swerving lanes between genres while maintaining her deep and respectful country roots. It’s both nostalgic…and forward-thinking…It sounds warm and homey and expensive all at once, an album you play front to back to savor and unpack in your own time.”—GQ
“GIRL is terrifyingly good. Across 14 songs, all of which bear Morris’s name in the credits,
she offers a masterclass in hell-raising country rock (‘All My Favorite People,’
which features Brothers Osborne), super-sized pop (‘GIRL’),
and pulsating soul (‘Make Out With Me’).”—Esquire

“On Maren Morris’s New Album GIRL, the Country Star-Turned-Pop Phenom Does Something All Her Own”—Vanity Fair
