NASHVILLE – "Si-ted" everywhere during the recent gathering of country
radio professionals in Nashville known as CRS, Uncle Si & The
Sicotics have released their humorous take on celebrity titled "As Seen
On TV" to radio stations across the U.S.
The upbeat single on Cold River Records is a sparring match between Uncle Si Robertson,
the "Duck Dynasty" patriarch and namesake of the unconventional,
unapologetic, and unabashedly fun country trio, and his two creative
antagonists his daughter-in-law Marsha Robertson and creative force of nature Bridgette Tatum.
The song, which was recorded exactly as it is told, has Uncle Si
attempting to tell a winding tale with a persistently elusive pay off
while Robertson and Tatum effectively "poke the bear" and interject with
jabs at his well-documented run as a reality TV star.
The song has proven to be one of the most talked about cuts on their debut EP on Cold River Records Uncle Si & The Sicotics, with comparisons to Ray Stevens and Jerry Reed’s "When You’re Hot You’re Hot."
"I’m not entirely sure what all this fuss is about," offered the cantankerous star. "With those two no one could get a word in edgewise. I’m just trying to sing the song and tell a story. That’s what I do!"
The collection of songs on Uncle Si & The Sicotics span
the funny side with "As Seen On TV" and "Huntin’ Somethin’" to the more
introspective "Throwback Man" and "Garrison." Tatum, who is the writer
of Jason Aldean’s two-week No. 1 "She’s Country," produced and co-wrote
the project with Robertson and Uncle Si and said the resulting songs are
based in faith, raised in family, and radiate fun.
And like the Louisiana native, Uncle Si & The Sicotics
is a tasty gumbo of country music, hip hop beats, rock ‘n’ roll, and
Southern gospel capturing Uncle Si’s wit, wisdom, and wry observations
on popular culture.
Fans are eager to experience Uncle Si &
The Sicotics in person and the trio has assembled a live show with the
same energetic, mind-blowing experience that is captured on the EP. Each
performance is a journey through their eclectic brand
of musical mayhem with straightjackets, rubber chickens, rhinestones,
and electric entertainment.
About Uncle Si:
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Uncle Si was born Silas Merritt Robertson.
He and his brother Phil Robertson were the bearded patriarchs of the
family behind the Duck Commander brand, a company specializing in the
sale of hunting gear and the companion reality series on A&E "Duck
Dynasty."
