NASHVILLE, TN Friday marked a major milestone for Drake White with the release of his debut album SPARK (Dot Records), available now.
The project has already soared to #1 on the iTunes Top Country Albums
chart and sits in the Top 5 All Genre. “He was fire then. He is fire
now,” said CMT.com of the Alabama native’s new project that has been in the works for over two years.
“I have poured my heart and soul into this album and though it has been a long time in the making, I can’t believe the day is finally here,” said Drake. “Every detail, including personal images incorporated into the cover, represent a small part of my life that I am so excited to finally share with everyone.”
Penning 11 of the 12 tracks, Drake organically drew inspiration from his laid back lifestyle and traditional values that were a direct result of messages found within his grandfather’s sermons he heard growing up. Highlights include the “hickory-smoked rocker’s” (Entertainment Weekly) “I Need Real” and his empowering current single that helped him define "a bluesy, soulful sound that is all his own" (The Boot).
On August 23, Drake will take the stage on ABC’s Good Morning America performing the Top-30-and-rising single “Livin’ the Dream” (Tom Douglas, The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston, Luke Laird). He will also preview a seductively sweet tribute to his wife, Alex, on the standout track “Making Me Look Good Again” for their website.
The evening before Good Morning America (8/22), Drake will take the stage at the “Housing Works Songwriter Night” in New York City hosted by Shane McAnally also featuring Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen & Brad Tursi with Walker Hayes. The group will play some of their most well-known tunes to benefit Housing Works, Inc.'s efforts to end AIDS and homelessness in NYC through advocacy, health care, housing, job training, and other services. The show will begin promptly at 7:15PM ET and tickets are still available here – http://www.housingworks.org/events/detail/live-from-home-songwriters-night/.
With his continued spirit of generosity, Drake will be taking a coast-to-coast “Flight to Light the Spark” on Wednesday, August 24. On this cross-country adventure, he’ll be stopping in each time zone giving back to local communities and igniting the spark of change across the country. Those impacted by this day of philanthropy include Friends of Firefighters (New York, NY), Musician’s on Call (Denver, CO), North Texas Foodbank in partnership with the Ford Community Fund (Dallas, TX), The Boys & Girls Club (Wichita, KS) and the Western Surfing Association in partnership with Salt Life (Los Angeles). Hailed as "one of country's most energizing performers" (Rolling Stone Country), the foot-stomping entertainer is set to perform on two impressive stages this weekend, opening for Zac Brown Band’s BLACK OUT THE SUN TOUR. Drake will first stop at Citi Field in New York City tonight before heading to Boston August 20 and 21 to play back-to-back shows at the famed Fenway Park.
