FOZZY have raised the bar and are ready to usher in a new era in rock and roll!"

Over the years, Fozzy has shared the stage with such music luminaries as Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Steel Panther, Shinedown, and many others. Three new shows from Old Rock House-- on sale tomorrow....

John D Hale Band
Saturday, August 30th
Doors 7pm, Show 8pm
$8 Advance $10 Day of Show
All Ages
http://youtu.be/6k4W5Y-qy6w

If you were to ask the John D. Hale Band to classify their sound, they’d respond by simply saying “its country.” Charming as this response is, it has the potential to be misleading. Blending together their favorite parts of country, Americana , southern rock, and even bluegrass, the John D. Hale Band have crafted their own edgy and raucous sound.

Monophonics
Sunday, September 14th
Doors 7pm, Show 8pm
$13 Advance $15 Day of Show
All Ages

Over the past seven years, Monophonics have staked their claim as one of the west coast’s premier bands. Raised amid the rich musical culture of San Francisco, Monophonics has proudly carried on the tradition of music native to their hometown, which flourished during the birth of Funk music and Psychedelic Soul. Monophonics were formed in 2005 was originally an instrumental ensemble, but in the last 2 years their sound has evolved to encompass incredible, vocally driven songs. The result is a psychedelic soul & heavy funk sound, which harks back to the styling of the late 60’s and early 70’s, all while keeping its feet planted firmly in the present.

Janiva Magness
Wednesday, September 17th
Doors 7pm, Show 8pm
$13 Advance $15 Day of Show
All Ages

Janiva Magness’ new album Original stretches the artistic boundaries of roots, rock and soul music. Its 11 songs seamlessly weave all three genres into a highly original approach defined by nakedly honest storytelling and the live-wire emotionalism of Magness’ two-and-a-half octave range, buoyed by arrangements that effortlessly blend traditional sounds with edgy experimentation.

GERARD WAY TO RELEASE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM, HESITANT ALIEN, ON SEPTEMBER 30TH ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS

FORMER MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE FRONTMAN TO PERFORM FIRST SOLO SHOWS AT READING AND LEEDS FESTIVALS IN ENGLAND IN AUGUST

Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way will release his debut solo album, entitled Hesitant Alien, on September 30th via Warner Bros. Records. The new album will be available for pre-order at all digital retailers beginning Tuesday, August 19th. Exclusive album bundles will also be available for pre-order on GerardWay.com on the same date. Fans who pre-order the album will receive the track "No Shows" instantly as a free download. The music video for "No Shows" will also be released on August 19th. Please see below for the full track-listing.

Working with producer Doug McKean, Way knew immediately what he wanted Hesitant Alien to sound like. "I wanted to make the small things sound big," he says. "My intention was to make 100 percent uncompromised art, using the currently least radio-friendly instrument, the guitar. I knew there would be lots of fuzz pedals. I knew I would play Fender instruments. I knew I would look at who my guitar heroes were in art school, Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein, and I drew a lot of influence from shoe-gaze and Britpop. I want the record to sonically galvanize people."   Hesitant Alien was mixed by Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys).

Lyrically, Way wrote about what he knew at the time, "which was struggle, beginnings, finding a newness in the mundane and the abstract," he says. "I looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon every day life. I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black's work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms."

Fans will get their first listen to some of the songs on Hesitant Alien when Way performs his first solo shows at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England. He will perform at Reading on August 22nd and at Leeds on August 23rd.

Garth Brooks World Tour Will Next Stop in Atlanta

After putting 10 shows in Chicago on sale last week, Garth Brooks announced today that he and his wife Trisha Yearwood will next bring their world tour to Atlanta.
The concert will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., and mark Brooks’ first time performing in the Southern city in 18 years.
The arena has plenty of room for extra shows, too — other than Brooks' show, the venue's website doesn't list any other bookings between Sept. 13, the date of his last Chicago show, and Oct. 1.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Like the Chicago shows, all tickets will be sold at a single price, in this case $71.50 including tax and service charges.
“I want to thank God and everyone who is giving me a second chance to look at a second career,” Brooks told journalists during a press conference earlier this month. “I don’t know too many artists who get this chance.”

Brooks is also expected to release a brand-new single to radio soon — a song he claimed “might be one of the greatest statements ever.” During that same press conference he also said a new studio album would hit stores later this year, and that digital versions of all his previous albums would be available soon as well.

Linda Ronstadt Honored with National Medal of Arts

By
Linda Ronstadt

Linda Ronstadt got the answer to that question she's been asking for decades: "When Will I Be Loved?"
The answer was Monday at the White House, by President Barack Obama, who hung a National Medal of Arts around her neck and revealed, "I had a little crush on her back in the day."

The honor was a particularly special moment for Ronstadt, who didn't make it to her induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April since Parkinson's disease limits her ability to travel. A military aide brought her into the East Room by wheelchair, but she walked to the stage to receive her award as a citation was read honoring her "one-of-a-kind voice" that paved the way for generations of women artists.

Eleven other recipients were awarded the 2013 National Medal of Arts, as the nation's highest award given to artists and their patrons, including DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg and Dominican-American writer Julia Alvarez, author of "In the Time of the Butterflies." Ten were awarded the National Humanities Medal, which honors those in fields including history, literature, languages and philosophy.

The Listening Room Series
Tuesday, October 21st
Doors 7pm, Show 8pm
$22 Reserved $15 General Admission
All Ages
(on-sale 7/30 @ 5pm)

The seed for this album was planted during a one-off show back in 2012. Bazan was invited to play a show in Tacoma WA with the Passenger String Quartet. PSQ leader Andrew Joslyn put together string arrangements for 4 songs and it was an enjoyable evening for all. They immediately began talking about doing it again and eventually started talking about making proper studio recordings of these songs. But it took nearly two years for everyone’s schedules to line up again. In February 2014, they were able to spend a week at Avast! studio in Seattle tracking a collection of 10 songs pulled from Pedro The Lion, Headphones and Bazan solo albums. Long time friend and Bazan collaborator Chris Colbert recorded, mixed and mastered the album. Chris’s no nonsense approach and years of friendship helped focus the effort and they were able to record the entire album in just a few days.
