 Star Wars continues to top movie attendance chart

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27, 2015  -- Rentrak (NASDAQ: RENT), the leader in precisely measuring movies and TV everywhere, today announced the official worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of Dec. 27, 2015, as compiled by the company's theatrical measurement services.

Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Like the Millennium Falcon shifting into hyper-drive, Disney's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' demolishes more records as it hits the $1 billion mark in just 12 days, faster in than any other film in box office history and also became the fastest film to hit $500 million in North America in a record 10 days. China is well-represented with two titles in the second and third spots respectively with the debut of 'Devil and Angel (E Gun Tian Shi)' followed by 'Mojin: The Lost Legend' in its second weekend."
