Nashville, TN (September 9, 2014) – C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. proudly invites hit singer/songwriter THOMAS RHETT into their prestigious Martin Ambassador Program today, which honors musicians for their understanding and appreciation of the guitar’s history and craftsmanship. The CMA New Artist of the Year nominee had the unique opportunity to visit their factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, last week before a tour stop to meet Martin’s craftsmen and women, marketing team and Martin’s Chief Product Officer, Fred Greene, to begin discussions on his Custom guitar. He joins a roster of artists across multiple genres, including Ed Sheeran, The Avett Brothers, Colbie Caillat, Jason Isbell, Hunter Hayes, Dierks Bentley, Del McCoury, The Milk Carton Kids, James Valentine of Maroon 5, to name a few.

“Choosing artists to join the Martin Ambassador roster is a responsibility that we take very seriously. A lot of research and consideration goes into the process because, for us, the artists will be a part of a family that is over 181 years old, and we can’t just let anyone join our family,” said Amani Duncan, VP, Brand Marketing, Martin Guitar. “Thomas Rhett is a natural fit and we are so pleased to be able to say ‘Welcome home!’”

Initially earning recognition as a talented songwriter, penning hits for Florida Georgia Line (“Round Here”), Jason Aldean (“1994”), and Lee Brice (“Parking Lot Party”), this latest honor adds to an already stellar year for Thomas Rhett, augmenting the success of his debut album, IT GOES LIKE THIS (The Valory Music Co.), which produced back-to-back #1 singles – Platinum-certified “It Goes Like This” and Gold-certified “Get Me Some of That.” Showcasing electric and acoustic guitar artistry, the project also features the Top 15 hits “Beer with Jesus” and “Something To Do With My Hands” as well as his latest offering, “Make Me Wanna.” The Valdosta, GA native grew up immersed in music, watching father Rhett Akins' success with songs like "That Ain't My Truck" and “Don’t Get Me Started” in addition to penning both of Thomas Rhett's chart-toppers.

"As a kid I always looked up to my dad, who usually had a guitar in his hand, so when I started playing, I knew I'd need a quality guitar," said Thomas Rhett. "It's such an honor for Martin to be so supportive of my career and ask me to be one of their Ambassadors."

Thomas Rhett has long been a part of the Martin Guitar family, playing the handcrafted guitars at his shows and festivals, including the packed crowd at the 2014 CMA Music Festival's Martin Jam Tent. The legendary guitar company chose an ideal ambassador, who is known to “grab his ol’ guitar and play.” He alternates between his D-28, HD-16R Adirondack and Custom Shop Koa HD-16R Martin guitars while on the road with Miranda Lambert’s PLATINUM TOUR.
