Grammy-Award Winning Band Train Set To Perform At The 2012 MISS UNIVERSE® Competition On NBC On December 19

NEW YORK,  -- NBC, Donald J. Trump and Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, announced today that three-time Grammy-Award winning band, Train, is set to perform at the 61ST Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition. The worldwide telecast will be broadcast live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday, December 19 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.
Hailing from San Francisco, the multi-platinum selling band Train just wrapped up a sold-out headlining tour across the US in support of their current gold album CALIFORNIA 37, which features the hits "50 Ways To Say Goodbye" and "Drive By." The Grammy-winning band is also known for chart-topping singles "Drop Of Jupiter, "Hey Soul Sister" and more. The band will perform a special three-song medley during the swimsuit competition including hits "Drive By," "Mermaid" and "Shake Up Christmas."
Train joins an exciting talent line-up that already includes Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic as hosts of the telecast.
Fans from around the world can also vote their favorite contestant into the semifinals at the 2012 MISS UNIVERSE ® Competition. The fan vote is taking place now through December 18; fans can log on to www.missuniverse.com or www.telemundo.com for Spanish-speaking fans.
Throughout the MISS UNIVERSE ® competition, contestants representing nearly 90 countries will compete in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The telecast concludes with Miss Universe 2011, Leila Lopes of Angola, crowning her successor.
