(St. Louis, MO – August 27, 2012) Alternative rock pioneers Smashing Pumpkins bring their Oceania Tour to Chaifetz (SHAY-fetz) Arena at Saint Louis University on Thursday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35 and $49.50 and go on sale on Friday, August 31 at 10 a.m. at MetroTix.com, the Chaifetz Arena Box Office and charge by phone at 314-534-1111.

Led by front man Billy Corgan, the Smashing Pumpkins have sold more than 30 million albums and have won multiple Grammy awards throughout their career. The Chicago-based band has produced seven studio albums, including Gish, which was their platinum debut in 1991.

As pioneers of the alternative rock movement, the Smashing Pumpkins dominated the 90s music scene. Following Gish, the band released four-time platinum album Siamese Dream in 1993 with hit singles “Cherub Rock,” “Today,” and “Disarm” and continued their success with nine-time platinum album “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” in 1995 that included “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” “1979” and “Tonight, Tonight.”

The current band includes front man Billy Corgan, who has been the Smashing Pumpkins’ lead singer and guitarist since the band’s inception, Mike Byrne, Nicole Fiorentino and Jeff Schroeder.

The Smashing Pumpkins’ current tour will support the band’s newest album Oceania which was released in June 2012. The seventh studio record is considered by the band to be “an album within an album” as part of their current work in progress Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.
