JASON ALDEAN'S "DIRT ROAD ANTHEM" DRIVES ALL THE WAY TO NO. ONE THIS WEEK ON THE BILLBOARD COUNTRY SONGS CHART

Aldean Has All Star Week with Major League Baseball and ESPN

NASHVILLE, TENN - July 18, 2011 – Country rocker Jason Aldean scores his seventh No. one song as “Dirt Road Anthem” drives into the top slot on the Billboard Country Songs chart this week.  The third consecutive PLATINUM release off Country’s best-selling album of 2011, MY KINDA PARTY, the track also tops the Country Digital Singles Chart again this week with over 1.3 million singles sold to date.

"We definitely knew when we recorded this song, we'd turn some heads.  Thankfully, when they turned, they also started nodding along," laughs Aldean.  "It's been a great song to play live and also to be able to do some experimenting with for tv performances and things like that.  I love being able to put out a big ballad like our duet with Kelly and come back with something a little different the next time.   I don't want anyone to ever think they've got me figured out exactly!"

Simultaneously, Aldean's duet with pop powerhouse Kelly Clarkson "Don't You Wanna Stay" continues to climb the AC, Hot AC and Top 40 charts.  Both songs follow the success of the lead single "My Kinda Party," making this the third consecutive No. one hit from Aldean's fourth studio effort.

Aldean spent this last week in Phoenix at the Major League Baseball's All Star Week, where he played in the Celebrity and Legends softball game and performed on ESPN's broadcast of the 2011 Homerun Derby.  He is also featured this month in ESPN magazine's celebrity series "Fans Like Us" with Justin Timberlake, John Legend and more.  Click here to see behind the scenes of the photo shoot with Aldean and Kenny Mayne:  http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/6761993/celebrities-justin-timberlake-john-legend-eliza-dushku-showcase-their-fan-allegiances-espn-magazine
Aldean's MY KINDA PARTY TOUR continues to crisscross the country selling out the nation's biggest amphitheaters with openers Chris Young and Thompson Square.  For more information and a full list of tour dates, visit www.jasonaldean.com.
NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Christian Kane

By Bob Doerschuk
© 2011 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
Before getting into the often raucous heart of The House Rules, jump ahead to the last track, one of only two not written or co-written by Christian Kane. If his cover of Tracy Chapman’s heartbreaking masterpiece “Fast Car” is all you heard from this album released on Outlaw Saints in partnership with Bigger Picture Group, you’d know that Kane possesses depth as a lyric interpreter that stands him apart from many of his peers.
It’s important to understand that from the top, because it lets us hear more clearly that on the riff-slamming single and title track (written by Kane and Blair Daly), the banjo-studded swagger of “Callin’ All Country Women” (Kane, Jerrod Niemann and Jimmie Lee Sloas), and the steel sweetened rocker “American Made” (Kane, Wayd Battle and Steven Carlson), his connection to the material is unusually insightful. As a singer, Kane knows how to bring each of these songs to life, whether an intimate narrative or a call to party fast and hard.
Produced by Kane, Bob Ezrin and Sloas, The House Rules combines the rough, raw edge that comes from being born in Dallas and raised in Oklahoma, with the sophistication Kane picked up after moving to Los Angeles and landing the lead role of Ryan “Flyboy” Legget in the MGM syndicated television series “Fame L.A.” He appeared in other TV productions as well and stars today in his fourth season as tough guy Eliot Spencer on TNT’s “Leverage.” But over time more of his energy went to KANE, a band he founded with Carlson. After they’d built a following in Hollywood clubs and a spot on local Country radio playlists, Kane and Carlson cast their lot entirely with music and moved to L.A.
With his good looks, stage and camera charisma and genuine Country feel, Kane has already gone far and is well positioned to go much further still.

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Brett Eldredge

By Bob Doerschuk
© 2011 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
Some people were born Country. Brett Eldredge came to it a little late — but once he got there, he dug in deep and made it his home.
Growing up in Paris, Ill., Eldredge spent a lot of time hanging out at the local lake. He played baseball, basketball and football in high school. He enjoyed all music, especially big-band swing. Hearing Brooks & Dunn when he was 16 put Country in the center of his map, but the full-blown conversion didn’t occur until his sophomore year at Chicago’s Elmhurst College, when he visited Nashville for the first time.
Eldredge went to the Station Inn to hear his cousin Terry Eldridge, now a member of The Grascals, with The Sidemen. Called to sit in, he sang “Amarillo by Morning”; when he stepped down from the stage, his dreams, his passion and his future had all transformed.
Transferring to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Eldredge spent his spare time going to songwriter circles and hooking up with other writers. Two years after graduation, he found his break when Byron Gallimore caught a performance. Soon afterwards, he became the first artist signed to the newly revived Atlantic Records Nashville imprint.
Eldredge’s self-titled debut, produced by Gallimore, connects a wide range of moods through the excellence of his co-writing on 10 of 12 tracks as well as his extraordinarily communicative vocals. His first single, “Raymond,” exemplifies all that’s right in modern Country: Written by Eldredge and Brad Crisler, it shares a deeply emotional narrative with sensitivity and power. This quality persists in the evocative small-town imagery of “Signs” (Eldredge, Bill Anderson and Crisler) and every other moment created and captured here.

PHRASE YOU SAY OVER AND OVER “That’s just one of them deals.”

Ten years and five acclaimed albums into one of the most uncompromising careers in American music, the singer/songwriter whose work has been compared to Prine, Cash and Nebraska-era Springsteen by some the toughest music writers in America may have finally conquered his most demanding critic of all: himself. For fans, critics and even Knight himself, Heart Of Stone is the record where it all comes together. It’s an album that is alternately raw and rocking, quietly powerful and significantly truthful in its scope. Most of all, Heart Of Stone is the sound of a remarkable artist coming into his own.

For some, their first musical memory might be a favorite song playing on the radio, a video on MTV, or a concert their parents took them to. But for 22-year-old singer-songwriter-guitarist Lukas Nelson, his first music memory is being onstage with such superstars as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and his father Willie Nelson singing along and stomping his feet to a crowd of thousands. Says Lukas about his first album, Promise of the Real, “This album makes me feel good and that's the point. The whole idea of being a musician is to create joy in the hearts of others. The whole idea of being an entertainer is to make people happy and entertain. And that's something I think we achieved on this record. I really believe that everybody has their own purpose in life and I think mine is just to play music and spread some joy."

THE BAND PERRY’S THIRD SINGLE, “YOU LIE,” GOES GOLD AS ALBUM NEARS PLATINUM

Crowds grow as TBP graces Country Charts, Pop Charts and VH1

Upcoming: Vote now for TBP’s two Teen Choice noms; Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance to air 8/17

Nashville, Tennessee (July 21, 2011) – The Band Perry is on a Gold streak! Their latest hit single, “You Lie,” has now earned Gold certification from the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000. “You Lie” was written by Aaron, Brian and Clara Henningsen and recently rose to #2 on both the Billboard Country Albums Chart and the USA Today/Country Aircheck powered by Mediabase Chart.

“‘You Lie’ is full of spitfire and it’s our high-five to everyone who’s been the victim of a cheatin’ heart,” explained The Band Perry. “Only in Country music could a song about feeling fed-up be so much fun to sing. When we perform this one, we get a big ‘amen!’ back and we thank everyone who has joined in.”

“Plain and simple…this song has more hooks than a tackle box!” said Jimmy Harnen, Republic Nashville President.

This is the latest plaque for the Perrys, whose debut album, THE BAND PERRY, went Gold four months after its release on Republic Nashville. Additionally, their megahit, “If I Die Young,” went Platinum, then Double Platinum recently – a testament to the song’s undeniable universal appeal.

The album, which is currently on course to go Platinum by year’s end, contains radio hits “Hip To My Heart,” “If I Die Young,” “You Lie,” and the upcoming love ballad, “All Your Life.” Album-only gems include the Perry-penned “Independence” and the crowd-pleasing rocker, “Double Heart.”

As TBP’s crowds grow, the trio has been embraced across genres. With hit singles on Country radio (“You Lie”) as well as Pop radio and VH1 (“If I Die Young”), they have been chosen to headline one of the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush 2011 concerts along with Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz and Luke Bryan. Excerpts from the band’s live show in Dallas on August 8 will air on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on August 17.

They are currently nominated for two Teen Choice Awards in the categories of Choice Country Group and Choice Country Single (“If I Die Young”). Fans can vote each day at teenchoiceawards.com. The special will air live Sunday, August 7 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. TBP's sweep of fan-voted awards began last April, when they earned the coveted ACM Award for New Artist of the Year. Most recently at the 2011 CMT Music Awards, The Band Perry earned the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video trophy and was chosen as Country music's best new live act in a category sponsored by Nationwide Insurance.

Currently on the road with Tim McGraw and looking forward to dates with Keith Urban (September) and Reba (October), The Band Perry has become a captivating headlining act in their own right, as recent attendance reports attest.

ABOUT THE BAND PERRY: The self-titled debut album by the family band was released in October 2010 by Republic Nashville and just four months later, it was certified Gold. The trio’s “modern throwback” style combines classic Country with an eclectic infusion of Rock, Gospel and Soul. As songwriters and musicians, their sound is distinct and rounded out by the rare magic of perfect three-part harmonies. Their first single, the up-tempo “Hip To My Heart” was a Top 20 hit, followed by the inspiring, reflective “If I Die Young,” which earned a Grammy nomination, reached #1, was certified Double Platinum and racked up over 27 million views on YouTube. Their third single, “You Lie,” is a sassy anthem of a woman scorned. As their fastest-climbing radio single to date, "You Lie," catapulted into the Top 5 on Country Charts. Having previously garnered Grammy, CMA, CMT and ACA nominations, The Band Perry recently earned two TEEN CHOICE 2011 nominations for Choice Country Group and Choice Country Single (“If I Die Young”). Earlier this year, they won their first CMT Music Award for USAWEEKEND Breakthrough Video of the Year as well as ACM Awards for New Duo or Group of the Year and the coveted New Artist of the Year. They have performed on the TODAY ShowThe View, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and have been profiled by E! News, CNN, Extra, Access Hollywood and Fox & Friends. Additionally, they have graced the cover of Pollstar and Music Connection and have been featured in a wide range of print publications from USAToday to People magazine. Currently they are on Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic Tour and will join Keith Urban on the road in September and Reba in October.

The record earned them two Grammy nominations for their rendition of classic Detroit soul Motown hits. The group then followed up with another timeless album in 2009, named Love covering songs made famous by Bonnie Raitt, Journey, Sam Cooke, Cyndi Lauper and The Beatles.
Twenty finds Boyz II Men twenty years later, fulfilling their dreams with a worldwide following, millions of records sold, countless amounts of awards across the globe and a new album ready to move the Boyz to their next chapter.
